Just want to vent about this, cause honestly it boiled my blood a bit.
I have been in the same line of work for 11 years. I am a chef. For sometime I was doing 2 full time jobs cause my wife lost hers. We made it but barely. I have two kids, well dressed and fed. I don't receive any assistance from the government, do not owe taxes, have no delinquent bills or bad credit.
So they hire a house keeper at my work, mind you this is about as low as you can go for my company. It is a minimum wage job, in fact it is the only job in the company that starts at minimum wage. She pulled in for her first days work in a Hummer. Ok, now I don't like to assume there has to be an explanation right? Her husband might have a good job, who knows?
Well it was time for break and I went out for a smoke (nasty habit, i know.) There she was blabbing to another house keeper about how her lazy husband doesn't work. Turns out her kid works there also. Same position.
Well today they pulled in with an Escalade with huge wheels and low profile tires. Just as the day before she is outside when I take my break.
This time she looks at me and starts complaining that her food stamp card (I guess they have a credit card type deal now) wasn't working.
I couldn't help it, I looked at her and asked why she needed assistance buying food when she was rolling in with such fancy cars. Her only response to me was "i don't tell you what to drive!" then she walked away.
Seriously how to people get away with it and how do they get these vehicles and homes in the first place. Is it really stereotyping for me to think there is identity theft going on when she can drive in with luxury vehicles and complain about a food stamp card?
Is it really un-constitutional for an official to spot check people on assistance programs to prevent fraud?
