Ok ive go this new industrial injection turbo silver bullet 66.. I got edge juice hot unlock and ddp 250 hp injectors.. Now wastegate it set at 50 psi. When im towing in 5th gear turbo cuts out sounds like it when you got it spooled high and just let off throttle real quick makes that bark noise. Well it does this while im towing for no reason im trying to pull a hill and it hit bout 25-30psi and it keeps cutting out makes it imposible to pull... Now it only does it in 5th under a big load i can drop to 4th get rpms up to 2500 and it still sceems to cut out a little not as bad as 5th but i can actually get to 40psi in 4th.. Now is this a turbo problem or a fuel problem I thought maby im not getting enough fuel to keep it going at lower rpms but it smokes all the time under a load or not so leads me to think it getting enough fuel.. That and my egt's while not towing are more high then id like running 60mph in a good head wind cant run any lower then 1000 degrees under light throttle chip on lever 3. Makes no sence bought this turbo to keep egt's down and guy i delt thou said it lights at 1200 which it dont really lights at 2000 rpm's but still builds boost up to 10-20 psi at lower but it really dont take off till 2000 rpms. What do you guys think. I was considering getting the silver bullet 64 and see it that helps any maby this turbo just to big.. I dont know any help would be appreciated..

That should truly light around 1900-2000rpm. Also, I don't think that setup works well for towing. Everyone I know/read about that runs the II SB + 200hp (or bigger sticks) example:

I have a silver bullet on my 02 24V with mach 8's (6X16"s) in it with a 91 converter and it is a smoke machine. Everything turned down or off it still hazes at any % of throttle. I hate how smoky it is but when it hits it hits hard. You will either learn to drive it in the most respectful streetable manor or sell it all off. Also forget about towing with this setup. Flat land at 70mph and 70-80* out with a 22' box trailer it cruses at 1200-1300 thick smoke the entire time. Climbing a hill it starts poring the thickest, blackest, most chewable smoke out. I almost refuse to tow anymore and use the truck as a toy.

These types of results seem fairly common, from what I can tell. As to the 'cutting out' feeling you're experiencing, do you have boost and fuel pressure gauges? If so, any abnormalities observed in their readings? Almost sound as though you could have a boost leak somewhere..

fuel pressure is always good never drops below 15psi boost sceems to be really good at higher rpm but ive cant hear any leaks ive checked em all before couple of times..

I concur (as previously stated.) I was also saying about a boost leak, as I've experienced a similar issue as you describe, where I had a slightly loose clamp, and would only show itself in high load/high boost situations (such as 4th/5th gear). Finally, the silicone coupler gave way, truck fell on it's face (pulling ~13Klb at the time, 3rd gear, accelerating from a stoplight.. I limped it to a parking lot, and fixed the coupler. Ironically, my surgy/burpy feeling went away after that, as well. I ended up making a boot leak tester that I could pressurize the entire intake system (from turbo to intake manifold and throw 40psi air from my shop compressor (at a regulated increase rate) to check for leaks. you can make something from Lowes parts and have about 10-12$ in it, and it be a viable tool to retain.

would the sb 64 be any better for towing? Ill have to go thro it again and check for leaks ive had boot problems before really need some better boots but cant spend 200+ on em from BD. I really need a good towing/good mpg set up as ive not been real happy with the ddp 250 injectors and this silver bullet 66.. I still like to be wasteful smoke people out now and then. Would really like something that gave lot better low end set up I got now doesnt have much power down low till turbo spools.. What would you guys recommend.. Needs to be good for towing and still be some what quick accelerating and most of all good mpg's cause guy I delt with for this setup said 24 was his agerage is not workin on my truck no matter how easy i baby it.

still have the stock HX35? Twin it! It'll tow like hell, get better economy, and have low-end grunt.and 24mpg avg would be a crock of shiz.. same guy told you it would light at 1200, remember?

twin it with what? My 66? I wanted to do that but people I talked to said I couldnt cause I was really useing 2 primary turbos and the 66 would defenently over spool the hx35.. That and no one makes a kit for it that I know of.

The BD tow twins kit is 2 S300's, the bigger of the 2 is just a little smaller than the SB66. The SB series is a WOT high rpm turbo, not a towing/DD turbo by most standards. People do it, but they have to completely revamp their driving style. A 63/68/12 with your injectors would probably be a good journal bearing turbo.

If its a boot or IC leak - why would he not hit the same issue in 4th gear ..... that doesnt make sense to me

He says he can drop to 4th and can fuel back up to 40psi and not same issue .....

I think the 66 is a bit small.

Sell it , get ~ s472 or s475 or ht3b and some twins piping and youll be much better off.

Sell the 66 for around $1200

Buy one of the above for around 500-800 (depending on new/used)

Get a twin piping kit for 1200

Youll only be a couple hundred more for it ....... and never have to worry about it again

well my turbo dont even have 1000 miles on it and i payed 1795 for it so would it be worth 1600? What would I run with the turbos you listed my stocker? Why wouldnt the 66 work? It builds plent of air maxed out should hit upword 60lbs id think which ive never hit that before.. Any links to the twin piping kit for 1200? thanksNow I got another issue that has just showed up. Saw this on a site for a 66. Not II.

The 64 and 66 compressors are primarily competition compressors. Approximately 10% of our customers have witnessed excessive "surging" issues at lower RPMs (below 2000) and higher boost (above 20 PSI) conditions when using competition compressors for towing or daily driving.

Anyways - yes you can use the 66 in twins - but its a lot of money $$ for a twin primary when you can run something just as good for $500-$700 and get some of your money back.

The Edge Juice does; it's built in. It's harness "T"s into the MAP harness, intercepting the signal at the sensor.

Thats not my problem it has no codes just checked.. Pretty sure its just this big turbo its a compitition turbo i found out so it not built to tow with as i have read more lot of poeple have same issues i have. I think im gonna twin it probually sell this turbo and get a good towing twin set..
