ok so I've been having these not starting when hot issues...as I've posted recently...Mike says put in gauge.... I get the electric installed with my triple pillar pod setup (glowshift)I'm anal and hate the way the wiring is coming out but still I push.Going to do the snubber from Geno's, pull off the banjo (filter up canister setup on mine)...I screw in the snubber, then tread the sender (tef. taped)... wire and ground.Gauges all come up (no other probes hooked yet) bump starter to bring up LP....it cycles (no pressure...nothing)try more,,,, still truck wont start either (several tries) nothing. I didnt bleed anything yet (the darkness came too fast) I did pop the filter drain and it was flowing. did I not install sender right? I'm thinking I have air in sender, but truck should fire. I did a draw straw and ran out of fuel before, never this on a priming tho. I cant see a complete how to to prine this setup anywhere.... lots of words or discussion on it, but I'm a see and learn guy (what did we do before YouTube).

First off no teflon tape and any sender fittings. Make sure the sender had good contact to the banjo bolt (metal to metal). What happens is the teflon insulates the sender from ground so the pressure gauge will show low or nothing. Teflon tape is not a good thing to possibly get into the fuel system to it would most like cause some serious issues.There is a air bubble caught in the filter housing and the drain is show fuel but the air bubble is being forced through the filter towards the VP44 so since air can be compressed the sender is still seeing zero. You should bleed the line at the VP44 by using the schrader valve or cracking the banjo fitting. Then crack 1,3,4 injector lines and crank till you see fuel spray or it starts. Then shut down tighten the injector lines and fire it up.

(True shade-tree style)I was actually afriad the the air bubble could be too high to bleed out at VP cuz of the way the sender is on the top of the canister.

with the dawning of a new day I'm feeling dumber....I have some pics to help represent my stupidity. I went out this morning, pulled sender off of snubber, cleaned off teflon tape (as Mike told me)... thinking I need to prime system as Mike instructed anyhow, I'll bump starter and see whats coming out of snubber (cant hurt I figure)....I get nothing (am I being dumb here)....So I go to the banjo at the pump (back line on side of pump from top of canister where I have snubber installed)I crack it open...nothing...bump starter...open more....just a drop or two. I pull the snubber off completely, bump starter, nothing there .... now I'm expecting maybe not a stream, but some flow (I'm hearing the LP running ...25 seconds)...I'm either not understanding the concept, the names of the parts I'm looking at or the lift pump is spinning..... HELP! I drove the truck to where it is so I didnt think it was completely gone (yet).I'm beyond frustrated. :banghead:

I read thru that PDF at 2am this morning (again). I'm not sure.... are my pictures and what I'm saying seeming right? Is the schrader valve just frontward of the theInjection Pump banjo bolt in my (first pic above) Totally lost sir!Mike, I'm not too crazy right.... the lift pump running should shoot fuel out of the banjo on the canister (even thru the snubber) right.... and more than a dribble. if I open the drain it seems to keep filling. can the lift pump be running some...to keep filling the filter housing? if I bleed of the filter and try again is that gonna show me anything?

Might not being the lift pump is not working properly. You might end up loosening the banjo on the VP44 for a moment and bumping the starter and watch for fuel flow. If it just dribbles then the lift pump is shot and the pressure reading are true.

opened the filter drain, emptied everything..... put the snubber and sender back on top, connected wiring, opened banjo (a lot) on the inj pump line..... cycled starter several times, no fuel... checked drain on filter (nothing flowing)..... guess that means the lift pump is not flowing at all I didn't miss anything right?(checking Geno's for DDRP).... that what you would recommend? or is there anything else to try first?

You on the right track. But I would highly suggest you do a Vulcan Big Line Kit and not use the facory plumbing with FASS DDRP pump it will perform better with 1/2" plumbing.

I hate spending $$ when I'm not 100% certain, but that what I'm going to do.... DDRP if its still not on back order .... big line as soon as I can. Need to get this running, I think I have to go to Virginia to get a new camper this week.... Fun fun.... Thanks Mike

Sounds like your lift pump is dead. Might fill your filter housing to the tip top with fuel via a jug and get it to prime. I hate trying to blead my fuel system even with my fass.

Thanks....thats what I was just thinking too.... I'll try... if nothing I'm ordering the DDRP....! this sucks... see why I cant buy an NV4500 for a conversion. I always like when you hear a "BANG!" and you know something broke

Well the top filling the filter housing didnt work. I ordered the DDRP from Geno's. Have to wait and see now..

I bought the raptor for $284.00 ? it is adjustable. Mounted it on frame. Cut line and moved it forward to connect the banjo that used to connect to the pump inlet is now connected to the filter inlet. Didn't buy a kit. Extended wire harness and connected to fuel lines with 3/8 flex fuel line and hose clamps. In and out holes on raptor are #12 O-ring boss. Bought those fittings and barb 3/8 at a hyd. hose supply in town. Adj to 18# idle 12# max fuel.

Did ypu get it running? Did you buy the fass or the raptor ffrp?

cant get it running... I ordered the FASS ddrp should be here for weekend. have to see how hard the convert is.

so I got a new DDRP-02 installed.... factory style inlet into DDRP, push lock line to top of filter canister. fuel pressure gauge with snubber in top of outlet to banjo to the VP.I bumped starter a few times to fill filter.....only at one point I saw the fuel gauge rise and fall showing pressure. I know it pumped enough to fill the filter one time now NOTHING. what's wrong.... I cant get anything out of the pump.... i popped the banjo on the inlet side of the filter. I havent put the inline pre filter to the tank yet. I'm thinking something is in the line.... or am I not priming right. Can i blow back thru the pump and into the tank???

Ive had same type of issues getting my FRRP pump to prime. a couple time i had to put a suction after the fuel pump and once i got fuel to the pump it primed fine. Btw diesel fuel tastes horrible . Just an idea and its free to try. Im not sure how the DDRP is but my raptor dosent seem to want to pull the fuel from the tank and bleed the air behind the pump by itself.

I can not get this DDRP to prime.... I have half a tank of fuel.... I'm blowing bubbles in the filter housing. I tried to top fill the pump down thru the banjo... I'm getting no where.... Any help....Want to try vaccuum But I dont have a pump to use.... any home remedy ideas... (LOST).

Only thing I can think of is possible hole(s) in fuel line? How long ago did you do the draw straw? Are you sure your not having an issue there? Seems like a new pump should very well be gushing fuel at this point... I would inspect you fuel line as best you can going from tank to lp and replace if any doubts. Good luck.

Try hooking a hose up to the inlet side of the pump and run that hose into a container with some fuel in it. if it pumps you know you have a issue behind the pump and possibly in the fuel pickup in the tank.
