So, since I have installed the mopar1973man blowby mod, it exits right at the front differential on the driver side. I was wondering what normal blowby looks like. Does the outside temp. have any influence as well? My dipstick says its at the top of the full line still, but the differential looks wet like I accidently dropped some oil on it. It does not accumulate enough to the point that it drips on the ground though...

Wait till you see it roll up by the driver mirior, you will think your truck just blew. :lmao2: Man I had a motor that should have had blow by, and didnt use a drop of oil. This motor I have now has no blow by and uses about two qts every 5k and gets better fuel mileage. There is a test you can do with a 3/4 clear hose that will measure the amount of blowby you have and I cant remember where to find it. Maybe someone on here will come thru.

Hmm.. well, I would think my compression is still good. But the blowby still makes me curious. I was trying to get it compression tested while I had the injectors out but could not find the injector adaptor to do it. I coulda got it from cummins but I would of had to wait.Although, I would like to hear more about this "test"...

It's called a manometer I think Isx had a link to it somewhere here

Alright, so how does one go about building this manometer?

Here is my blowby on a warm summer day.

As long as your not losing oil and having to add oil constantly you fine. My truck blows a good trail of vapor, drips on the floor now and then but never requires oil in between oil changes.

My truck doesn't give any blow by vapor, and I can't ever feel any pressure from the oil filler cap. I am going through about a quart every 600-800 miles... I have asked around and might have narrowed it down to the turbo.. I don't ever have any on the ground either.Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2

Yea, mine was doing it the day I noticed it. I have not had any oil on the ground, but my vent also exits right over the diff. fin on the left. The area was wet looking. I suppose what oil is dripping on the ground from your truck is what oil is dripping on my differential on my truck. Its so strange that I could have this much blowby but not have barely any oil consumption...

just happened to see this thread on blowby, and our 2000 ram' been showing quite a bit of oil accumulation at the end of the tube as well. Im sure most in here knows how nuts it is to track an oil leak that is in the main stream flow of the cooling fan! vapor is one thing, but it seems to be carrying too much oil out too.. I'll address this problem soon as I get the p1693 code sorted out!One thing that has driven me nuts over the years.... is to see people jump into their diesel trucks, hit the key, then immediatly buzz away... Some are probably already warmed up, some are not! I been guilty too... but I don't live anywhere close to a highway, and let it warm up before dropping the hammer. (hint: lots of things are 'swelling-to-fit-properly') I too will go into michael's blowby thread.
