Ok I said I would never do this, but here we go…. Reading about some of these “Tuners – Programmers” that just plug into the OBDll, and you don’t have to “tap” anything, my brain is asking me the age old question – What could possibly go wrong? (Hold my beer) LOL….

In everyone’s humble opinion what is the best way to go. Seems like you can get ones from 300 that have three programs, to a Smarty that has six, any opinions? (Silly question)

I do get confused when reading about the programs, especially concerning timing. How do you figure out what is best for driving around town (yes I do like spirited driving) and for towing? I am very conservaitive when I tow and try to keep the exhaust temp down, but would like a bit more power.

I would assume you would have to switch back and forth with something like the Smarty before taking off on a trip??

Sorry guys, this is one subject that I just haven’t gotten my head into yet… Never say never...

There are 9 SW levels, and then Revo settings in each.

The VP trucks work a little different than the HPCR's, IIRC the VP tunes all make about the same peak power but the low/mid changes with the SW settings.

I am not a VPologist, but I would start with SW5 Torque 2, Timing 2, Duration 3 and go from there.

This is the REVO in each SW setting you can change?

Yes.

When you get the unit go to the MADS website and update it with the Revo software to ensure you have the latest and greatest.

This unit is only a month old. The Seller says it already has the newest software on it.

Revo is your timing, duration, torque. You change that then it uses it on whichever sw you put it to

OH! Ok, so I am guessing the duration is the injection (fuel) duration? If so that will help me control the smoke. I want more bottom end but I do not want to waste fuel doing so and pissing off my neighbors lol. I am already thinking of redoing the straight pipe exhaust (from previous owner) and putting a resonator in. I like the sound it is just too loud at 6am lol.

LOL!

Well I got the S03 Smarty. I can't wait to try it out. It will be nice to have less low end lag
