Posted January 24, 201411 yr I have an 02, at what fuel level will this light illuminate? Long bed qc 4x4. I have no owners manual. Thanks Ap
January 24, 201411 yr Generally with 4-5 gallons remaining, or 1/8 of a tank. I never let mine get below 1/4 to 3/8 personally.
January 24, 201411 yr Mine has always lit at 1/8th of a tank. When new I had 7 or 8 gallons left. After Dodge installed my in tank pump that went to 3 or 4 gallons at 1/8th of a tank. My vote is for 1/8th of a tank and the gallons depends on your fuel level sender. I run mine pretty low on long trips. I actually put 35 gallons in once. That was stretching a bit to far even for me.
January 24, 201411 yr Ever since I bought my truck 2 years ago, the light always comes on at 1/8th tank. If I fill up as soon as the light comes on, its almost exactly 10 gallons left. Mainly I just figure about how much mpg's I am making and go by that. So if I average 21 mpg's on the highway, I should be able to make at least 700 miles to the tank.
January 25, 201411 yr Author And of course, after I posted- the light came on after I started it up! Filled about 5 mile later- 30.6 Gal. So that gives me 5 gal reserve? AP
January 25, 201411 yr I've put 35 in mine as well. Mine comes on around 31 gallons worth of topping off, or ~4 gallons left.
January 25, 201411 yr Author Thanks gang, this is the first truck I've owned without an owners manual. Who loses these things????
January 26, 201411 yr I have seen owners manuals on the internet. Probably could find one for free somewhere.
January 27, 201411 yr Owner With a good fuel sender its typically lit up by 1/8 a tank and I've typically got 10-11 gallons left. At Empty mark I typically around 4-5 gallons left.
