Well for while now I've had a squeak noise from my blower motor that would come and go. Today I finally got around to look at it. I pulled the blower motor down and attempted to spin the cage. OMG! Talk about hardly spin. It must of been putting a hell of a load amps wise on the circuit. Never blown the fuse or burnt anything that I know of. But the shaft without the cage on you couldn't twist with your fingers you had to use pilers. Well my nice boss ordered me one today and just got it tonight so I'll get the new one installed in the morning.

My napa still said they don't carry them so I had a buddy get one from napa down the road in the next town. How stupid is that?

Well I'm in the same boat, but I also have a bade brake line and a worn ball joint. Looks like an expensive trip to NAPA is in order

Bad blower motor and bad resistor pack

Just solder it back together and it's good as new, all most.

Looks like they got plenty of solder on top and not much in between the connection.

 

Where is that resistor pack for the blower? Like to look over mine too.

Just to the left of the blower motor on the bottom of the plen, 2 Phillips head screw secure it in placr

put my new resistor pack in ($51 from NAPA); I now have A/c and all blower speeds again!!!!!

Mike, did you have any discoloration of the wiring at the plug? Last time I replaced my blower (I'm on #4 from Autozone with their lifetime warranty) I noticed the connector had browned considerably, and 2-3" of wire insulation in either direction was similarly browned. I pulled the connector apart, filed the pins and resoldered them, and put it back together with dielectric. It doesn't get nearly as warm as it used to...

I'm going to bet your blower motor has bad bearings. I ran mine till it start to squeak. What was strange is the motor ran fine but had a mild squeak that comes and goes. Then when you pull it out the motor shaft is stiff as hell. Don't spin very good at all. Hence there is a increase in amperage draw to muscle the blower around, also why the plug would be getting heat damage.
