Why not just buy an exhaust brake? I know it isnt cheap to upgrade to a vgt turbo

With the VGT turbos you would be looking at another $500-$600 for a standalone controller for it on top of the cost of the turbo so keep that in mind.

What controllers are out there these days?   Last time I checked, Fleece wasn't marketing theirs.

Those two came up in a Google search so I am sure there are other places to get one too.

The HE351VE isn't worth 600, you can find good ones around 400 fairly easily.. if not lower.

 

The controller and turbo should cost about the same as an exhaust brake, but the turbo has more than one purpose.
