so a few days ago i went to start my truck after work (sat 10 hours) and when i started it, it took 3-4 cranks instead of normal, ran rough for the first few rotations, then bright blue smoke was coming out of the exhaust.

it has done this every time ive started it since.

any ideas whats causing it? i need this fixed asap, vacation trip coming up soon!

also on a side note, my fuel pressure gauge has a mind of its own. between 20 and 30 psi. bounces occasionally, spikes, doesnt alter whether i floor it or at idle

If you are in fact making oil, that could also explain the power loss when you are at speed. Just enough of a fuel leak to not give you full power. The no black smoke definitely tells me there is a fuel delivery issue.

is it safe to drive the truck 15 miles to a shop?

Depends on how much fuel is actually getting into the oil. I dont think I little would hurt it. If its like a quart of fuel in the oil then I might be worried about it.

i feel like this is going to be expensive as crap.. its about 1/4 inch above the safe zone top line. should i drive it or pay a tow bill?

Defer to the paper towel trick:

- Take your dipstick out and let one drop of oil fall onto a paper towel. Give it a minute to soak into the towel. Report back with the size of the saturation and the characteristics of it. This will give you an idea of how much fuel dilution there is in the oil. It'd be even better if you could provide a high quality picture of it as well.

grid heater relays werent working. replaced them and all good to go! started great after 10 hours in 15 degree weather. not blue smoking or smoking at all, running perfect. pretty strange

thank you guys for all the info and ideas!

So are you "making" oil?

Sure don't look like it. He said the grid heaters weren't working. When it gets cold if I don't cycle mine twice it is real hard to start too.

at first i thought i was, but i actually misread the dipstick. complete blonde moment honestly

oil is fine, perfect level still. blue smoke is gone, no hard idle. starts first crank. mopar screwed me for $130 for the relays though. couldnt find them anywhere else

I don't know how to do that or I would
