The "Thundering Herd" is playing for their 4th straight national championship this Saturday in Frisco TX against Illinois ST. so you can about imagine what the talk is all about around here.

Pretty remarkable considering they have a new quarter back and head coach this year and only lost 1 game this season which ended a 38 game winning streak. They have won the National championship 3 years in a row going for 4 which has never happened in college football FCS league, if they win it will be national title #12 for the Herd. Several co-workers are headed down as they are NDSU alum, Frisco TX loves NDSU and the town totally caters to us like no other, All who go down there say everyone in town has Bison flags and banners all over and all bar and restaraunt personel wear bison attire as well, must be pretty intimidating for the other visiting teams to go to another town in another state and be totally overwhelmed by NDSU Bison fans. For a state with only 700K people we fill most of the stadium which is what impresses the folks from Frisco TX as they have never seen as much support for any team that has ever visited there for championship games as ND supplies.  They say its actually pretty pathetic how little support most other states and colleges fall short in that.

Feel the excitement here!!!!!!  https://www.facebook.com/NDBison

That's cool!

Here in Idaho we have a similar happening in that Boise State Broncos have an enormous following that travels to away games in very large numbers as well.  While we are in the NCAA league we have won 3 fiesta bowls for national recognition as well as being ranked in the top 25 teams nationally for a number of different years, which does wonders for recruiting and fund raising for the University.  I can imagine NDSU also reaps great financial and recruiting benefits from the football teams success and all the community support and public recognition.

Not to mention its just plain cool and fun to see and participate in winning activities. :thumb1:

Game is on ESPN 2 at 12 noon CST if you have access to it, I don't have cable or a dish so I will check in on the radio.

Down here in nebraska we follow ndsu pretty close as your former coach is a nebraskan, former player and former coach. It still amazes me what they can do with bringing in and developing players to a northern school. Just hope our new coach can do that at nebraska

The rival state college UND in Grand Forks has always had a national power house Hockey team that rivals the NDSU football program. Many hockey players from UND have found careers in the NHL and Olympic teams over the years.

Well our ND boys did it again,

"The Herd has defeated Richmond 33-7 and advanced to the NCAA Championship game for the FIFTH consecutive year!

NDSU vs Jacksonville State/Sam Houston for the 2015 NCAA National Championship on January 9th in Frisco, Texas!"

Going for Championship #5...............................And they did it this year with a new coach, their #1 main quarter back out most of the season with an injury and a lot of fresh blood on the team this year as they graduated a lot of their seniors that took them there the last 4 years..................this my friends is true passion!!!!:thumb1:

The North Dakota State Bison football program represents North Dakota State University in college football at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision level and competes in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The Bison play in the 19,000 seat Fargodome located in Fargo, ND. The Bison have won 12 National Championships and 32 Conference Championships and are the four-time defending NCAA Division I-FCS National Champions (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014). NDSU has the record for the longest winning streak in Division I-FCS which stands at 33 consecutive games spanning from 2012 to 2014. It is also tied for the 3rd longest streak in NCAA football during the past 50 years.[1] In the final AP Football Poll of the 2013-14 season; after their third consecutive National Championship, North Dakota State finished with 17 votes which ranked them at #29 in all of D1 football, the highest of any team in the history of FCS football. Since 2011, the North Dakota State Bison have a record of 70-5 (.933) including an ongoing record 19 game playoff win streak, and have won 4 straight FCS championships (The only FCS team to do so), making them the most successful college football program this decade at any level. The Bison are 124-32 (.795) since moving to Division I in 2004. Since 1964, the Bison have had only 3 losing seasons and an overall record of 481-134-4 (.780) through that 52 year span, one of the best in all of college football. North Dakota State currently has more all time wins than any non-Ivy League FCS Program at nearly 700 all time wins. Of all teams established after 1894, only Oklahoma has won a higher percentage of their games than NDSU.

24-0 @ half time, Bison are dominating #1 rated Jacksonville State.:cheerleader:

This with their starting Q-back Carson Wentz  who has not played a game since Oct 17 when he was injured. He is supposed to be a top pick in the NFL draft this next go round as well.

Looks to be another one for the record books, no other team in NCAA college ball history has ever won 5 consecutive back to back national championships.

History made today, Bison win #5 straight national championships 37-10.

Have most of this years starters coming back again as well as a heck of a backup q-back who got them most of the way to the championship this year.

Congrats to the Bison!!!!! Sounds like they might have the makings for 6 peat.

I hope there wasn't any one named Jimmy Johnson on the squad, if so I might have to rethink my support.
