  1. My truck (Sport): 15 amps each headlight / 15 amp fogs Factory lights: 110 watts on low beam = 9.16 amps 240 watts on high beam = 20 amps Using IB's bulbs: 160 watts on low = 13.3 amps 360 watts on high = 30 amps So I guess it seems the higher wattage bulbs would be OK..... But that said, I also have my fog light relay jumped which keeps the fogs on with the high beams. That means I'm guessing the fog light load runs through the head light switch too (thats 414 watts and 34.5 amps if I include the fog lights) and I cant remember what amperage the headlight switch is rated for so.....
  2. NightHawk, your truck has the Dana 80 hybrid, and the 1410 u-joints. I dont actually expect anyone to go through my other painstaking read either.
  3. Any chance the VP timing key was partially smashed in the shaft cog? And did you ever go back to that shop and ask them about the wire not making a contact, which they thought they fixed?
  4. My intentions are not necessarily the main head light bulbs but more the brights bulbs. I too have Sport headlights which offer some pretty bright headlights already. But if I can get the brights to offer an even brighter/wider beam then that would be worth it. Although not at the cost of any repairs.....
  5. Nothing wrong with reiterating this question..... I'm seriously considering trying these higher wattage bulbs but I have to admit that I'm skeptical in regards to any possibly adverse affects. Dont want to melt anything.
  6. I'm confused..... So it did this before you bought it "and" after you bought it, or just after? Because below you mention that "its never done this". Are you saying it acted even worse after the injector swap? Did you ever go back and ask them about this "non connecting wire" in the harness? Maybe there's something to that and whatever they thought they fixed wasnt actually fixed correctly..... I'd certainly want to know what they were talking about. Did you get the new dampener installed yet? And why didnt you go with a Fluidampr? I hear great things about them. Lastly, can you video this vibration or shake? If its as apparent as you describe then it should easily show up on video.
  7. Yes, it acted like it was in the 3 cylinder high idle.....but without the high idle part. Odd to say the least. And yes, it was a result of trying to cool the VP after driving in hot weather too. Something I dont do anymore and I'm sure MoparMan is on to something about the adverse affects.....but again, as strange as it was, I dont believe it was running backwards. As for a fuel heater, I'm not sure you need to worry about it unless you find there's a problem with the FASS hanging down in the cold during the frigid winter weather. And I guess it would also depend on how cold it gets where you live.....
  8. Hey.....I see that cord poking out at the bottom of the picture. No WTS for you.....
  9. I'm sure its been said already but make doubly sure that the bottom bolt for the track bar is freaking tight otherwise it will cause a clunk.....
  10. Given the number of people who've ever "thought" their Cummins started backwards, and how long you've been doing what you've been doing JAG.....I dont think its something to even consider or worry about. Personally I dont think its even possible to run an ISB backwards. Understanding how the VP functions.....there is literally no feasible way for the engine to receive any fuel if the VP rotation was backwards. In actuality, it would be trying to pull fuel from the cylinders.....if the fueling solenoid even opened at the appropriate times. Rather I think what I experienced was something more like an electronic anomaly causing the VP to try and run the engine in some sort of 3 cylinder mode or random odd firing diagnostic mode. Not sure.....but "backwards", no.
  11. I still dont really know if the engine actually "started backwards". And even if it truly did, the entire episode lasted about 5 seconds.....
  12. I guess it's just a sign of the times.....
  13. The Clintons already have some strange mysterious non-stick goo which somehow not only prevents them from being held accountable for anything.....but also clouds the mental capacity and memory of those who support them. Maybe we need to find out what that stuff is and use it on our vehicles. We could call it something catchy like "Eludes ALL".....
  14. Not many but a few people I've ever heard of who use or used any kind of fan set up because it involves a timer which will allow the fan to run for X amount of time needed to keep the PSG temps from rising. Then you have to account for the voltage the fan will use during that time. But you're right on the money about tires. How quickly we forget about history.....whereby all too many people think that "today" is as bad as its ever been. There's a guy who used to be a regular on TDR that still uses a fan. I believe he used a marine bilge blower connected to ducting too. I cant say one way or the other regarding the fan idea but to each is own..... That said, I'm not sure if anyone remembers back about 7 years ago when I wrote up a thread about how I thought my engine started backwards two separate times. CRAZY violent..... Never understood what happened either, and neither did any one else I talked to about the phenomenon.
  15. Well dang fellas.....I learned something new here. I was always under the impression the non-Sport head lights were glass. So then I guess the intent of my original question to IB was whether or not there was any issues with heat and the plastic lenses using the higher wattage bulbs, but I'm guessing that would be a big fat nope.
  16. IB, just making sure I'm understanding what you're doing..... You've installed these in the Sport headlights or the non-Sport headlights? Reason I ask is because the Sport lenses are plastic whereas the non-Sports are glass.
  17. How long has it done this? Any relation to when you did ANYTHING to the truck? And.....did it begin after the install of the new VP?
  18. 015point9 you're delving into topic questions which have been hashed out for a long looooong time. There is so much information out there floating around the web regarding all this too. I suggest that if you're truly interested in reading then dig through the internet and see what you can find. I'm not usually the one to tell people to search on their own either but really because this topic has NO definitive answers one way or the other, but yet still tends to generate many many opinions from those who've been part of all those discussions, its kinda pointless to say anything more than just make sure you deliver your VP a good clean constant supply of fuel at the correct fuel pressures, and use some fuel lubrication additives. That said, having been a voice in this topic over the years I've come to my own conclusions which may or may not be in line with others who have the same level of knowledge and/or experience..... So I do what I want because its my truck and others do what they want because its their truck. Maybe someday we can all collaborate again and see if what one person did compared to what someone else did will yield any answers. Well.....if anyone even cares at that point. Thats not to say we're all doing things vastly different either but just maybe not exactly the same.
  19. 98.5-99 call for a different clutch than 00-02. Maybe you have the wrong year. If you're concerned about quality, Geno's has OEM clutches. Yes, they're not going to be as cheap as I'm sure you paid for the one you have but its an option if you get tired of messing with it.....
  20. Thats just normal oil leakage. People call it Cummins corrosion control.
  21. Aside from these kids giving environmentalists all the more reasons to hate diesels, I'm simply astounded at the number of people who video themselves committing crimes and post it on the internet.....
  22. Would be interested to know why he feels that way.....
  23. Got it..... Yes, there are trucks who use internal and/or external retainer joints and different splines. I thought you were saying that there was trucks which came from the factory with different brand joints other than Spicer or completely different shaft designs altogether. In respect to that, yes, Dodge is notorious for this "transitional" period whereby it seems it was easier and cheaper to just let the assembly lines use what they had before re-tooling for the different models.....that is as long as they were of the same generation model. For instance, even though disc brakes were introduced in 2001.5, and most "accessory" components like inner fenders, cup holders, hood insulation, etc... were eliminated, you'll see those items still included on a drum brake 2002 truck. And why even though the CAD front axle was eliminated in the 2002 model, you'll still see many 2001.5's and some 2002's with CAD axles.
  24. I cant see what or if any ill effects it would have either..... As 2-stroke mixes with the fuel and remains suspended. So when that fuel is replaced with more non-mixed fuel, the dilution ratio rapidly changes.
