1. I wouldn't - because there is an inline heater at the intake manifold.
2. Hi All, Advance Auto Parts has ScanGauge 2 for $159.99, but use $40.00 discount promo codes "trt41" Mine is on order as of 5/24/2013.
3. Can you update me on your ScanGauge II? Did it ever work properly? I have one on order and would like to understand the "real world setup :smart:".
4. If this is a complete OAI report, it is not really complete. Check out the information in the Blackstone Report attached. Notice the Unit/Location Averages, Universal Averages and reference to previous communications. Side note this is analysis of conventional oil - no blends and no synthetics. - - - Updated - - - Here is a test of air filters - K&N is not very good. http://www.getdieselpower.com/my04dodge_files1/Spicer%20Filter%20Testing/Spicer_Filter_Testing.html
5. Let me just say I would never use Delo 400 LE (see attachment) Let's be reserve about the data. Your Silicon, Molybdenum, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Zinc are a little high, but how many miles are on the oil change and did you spin a new filter and add oil between oil changes? I always send my oil samples to Blackstone Laboratories and ask for a TBN result (TBN tells if your oil is spent). All oil types have a TBN number and it is very important not to exceed this number to zero: http://www.blackstone-labs.com/spectrometry-the-marvel-of-the-lab.php Information for high Potassium and Sodium are signs of coolant in oil, but you are not showing this. It seems you have ring and cylinder wall wear, could it be possible you have using excessive rpm's or towing very heavy loads? This leads to how many miles on the engine? Look for an air intake leak, tear in an air filter or something else with the air filter.....58 Lube Oil Analysis Compare.pdf
6. A few questions: Which side of the fuel filter is your gauge attached to? What type of new pump did you install?
7. Here is the website: http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/76-gm-trucks/64-maintenance-fluids/177728-lubricity-additive-study-results.html
8. Hey Dave, If you are into reading about VP44 fuel system and repairs, open this link and print it or save it. http://m.bluechipdiesel.com/site/vp44diagnostichelp.html
9. Thanks for the video and the explanation. For me, I usually take 3-4 trips a year from Boise, ID to Hamilton, MT and fill up at the same stations. It is 340 miles and usually run 2 mph over speed limit. MPG is 18.5 with a leer shell, extended cab, automatic, LT245/75/16 and 3.55 gears (stock from factory). What would be the "mpg" benefit of changing stock injectors to +40 or +50 (Bosch RV275 if available)?
10. I have no idea what this scan gauge or the calculations are about. I will loan you a Garmin GPS and you can fill the tank till you see diesel and calculate with simple division. Maybe I am just old fashion, but there is no second guessing.
11. I would really like to know your new MPG with the +50 HP Injectors. Are these RV275's?
12. I have never spilled a drop after the Fleetguard Enviroguard Kit installation.
13. During the day, 1st time using cruise control it accelerates. Set it at any speed between 45-75 and it continually creeps up. Turn it OFF - ON - set it - multiple time and it starts working fine. Anybody seen this and have a solution? No warning lights and no codes.
14. Thanks - I copied the link and it worked. I think this is my issue! Well a picture can tell the story with 97,000 miles bad contact.
15. Need some help with intermittent starting. 1999 Dodge Diesel 24v. "Intermittently" after Wait To Start, I turn the key to start and nothing from the starter but all the dash lights work, radio, etc.. Try it again and everything is working. It is getting worse over the last 4 weeks, but I only drive it ever couple of days.
16. Hi jumpjg,I have recently found the O-ring replacement could be #10 Air Conditioning O-ring which is Green in color and withstands diesel fuel. What kind of O-ring did you use? Also, is there an easy way to remove the heater pins from the connector?Very nice post!
