Just upgraded to hx35, not happy
what about the o-ring at the connection to the elbow? or is the elbow not seated completely into the compressor housing? seen both quite a few times.

24 valve P7100 swap
low end grunt, like straight out of the floor grunt where you can put it in gear and let the clutch out was gone, I hate smoke so I spent weeks tuning the afc to get it clean which made it laggy, mileage with the vp on the highway was never under 18 usually closer to 20, p7100 never got better than 15, egt's became hard to control, it was a monster when my foot was on the floor, and a turd the rest of the time. I blame most of it on the static timing, it makes everything a comprimise. It did make 560/1198 with a little 62mm turbo, so like I said it ran good full tilt. It just wasn't fun to drive anymore and pulling a trailer was a nightmare. I've still got the engine, no idea what I'll do with it though.

24 valve P7100 swap
Hope you like yours better than I liked mine, I had my 01 around 650 hp for 4 years and loved it, popped the engine being a dumbass kid, converted to a p-pump when I built the engine. I liked the p-pump so much I now drive a ford. It made great top end power but everything else really suffered though.

Tires: Treadwright
Right now I'm just north of San Diego, but I'm from Idaho, and Lived in Leesburg, Va for a few years, worked at Dulles Airport and Mountaineer Pipe Corp. in Sterling, Va. That's when I was dealing with the construction tires. I used to go over to Winchester on a regular basis. Got lost the first few times from guys at work giving me directions like "just past Leesburg mountain" Never did find a mountain around Leesburg, a couple rolling hills sure, but no mountain...

Back to stock injectors for a short time
Have you considered doing a HX35/40 hybrid? It's basically putting an HX40 compressor section on your existing HX35. That is definitely one of the best towing and general purpose turbochargers I've seen for a 5.9, better airflow, and nice cool EGT's. Pretty inexpensive to do as well.

Tires: Treadwright
Those look a lot like BFG AT's. On that note the transforce At's are built on a truck casing and can be recapped like the toyo M55. Trying to remember the place down in Chantilly. Alban tire maybe? they used to re-cap a lot of construction tires for me.

new old guy, old new guy, something like that.
Hi all, I'm Russ. I used to be on this site, and a few others. I'm from SE Idaho, lived by Firebird for a while. Now I'm in Encinitas, Ca. Quit my job and went back to school. As much as I love and miss Idaho it's pretty nice living a mile from the ocean.Anyway I've owned five brands of diesels, BMW, VW, Dodge, Chevy, and Ford. My current two being a '99 F250 and "our" 2011 Jetta TDI. I've still got my built Cummins engine sitting in Dads shop in Idaho, but haven't figured out whether to sell it or buy something to put it in.I better quit screwing off and get back to my math homework, so I'll end by saying I'm not the smartest guy around, but hopefully my experiences can bring something to the table here.P.S. I'm sure Michael will remember me, although if he remembers me too well I might not be able to log on tonight...

5.9 blowing oil
the 04.5 to 07 5.9 is famous for melting pistons. the best anyone can figure is due to the non-reentry piston design. I'd almost put money one of your pistons has deformed causing excessive blowby.

1996 Ford F350 ?'s...
Welcome to the HEUI fuel injection system. High pressure oil fires the injectors, and when it's cold the oil is thick and they are pretty lazy until the oil warms up.

2013 Ford diesel accidentally put gas instead of diesel......
95% chance the Ford tech doesn't want to fiddle with troubleshooting, diagnostics, checking for ACTUAL problems. There are a lot of parts changers out there, they go with "it needs an entire engine" because it's easy to do, they don't have to think, and they know it'll fix the problem. After all they don't have to pay for it.unless it was ran hard or for a while with the Gasoline in the tank it's probably fine.
