  1. I seem to spend more time as the bug than anything else.........
  2. Well, I wound up at a dealer to program the new remotes. The remotes wouldn't work. Turns out the dealership gave me the wrong part number. The only good thing to come out of today was I did get the PIN code so now I can have an automotive locksmith program the new remotes when they get here. What a PITA........
  3. Just as a follow up, I got TWO remotes off Amazon for under $40. I am going to call a locksmith tomorrow morning to see if he can and how much it would be.
  4. Something you can try is to unplug the field wires and go for a drive. That will take the alternator out of the loop. If everything works like it should then you know for certain.
  5. Make sure you think about some of these "upgrades"!! Cross Drilled Brake Lines
  6. He would have a 47RE transmission. The 47RH was used up until '95. '96 is the first year of the RE (my '96 was one of the early models to get the RE). Far as your alternator, it would be physically impossible for it to be putting out 10.5 volts and have the batteries at 14.2 volts. If you are getting 7v AC you really need to fix your alternator.
  7. I stopped at a Dodge dealer in Uvalde, Tx. to see what they would charge for getting a remote working. They said $60 to program. I thought, well, that's kinda high in my mind, but doable. I asked about a remote since I didn't have one and how much they were. HOLY CRAP!! They wanted $130 plus $10.73 tax along with the $60!!! That ONE remote would have been $200.73!!! I just ordered two of them from Amazon for under $40. That way IF I find a dealer and have a bit of time I might be able to get them to program one of them (or both).
  8. You don't need to wait. All you do is fill out the form online and it will eventually be delivered to where you designate. Most people have seen their new replacement in just a couple of weeks. Mine however took months........
  9. That's what I was thinking, unless a good locksmith could do it. Anyone have any idea how expensive it could be?
  10. Hey guys, When I got my truck I didn't get any remote for the door locks. Yes, it is supposed to have a couple. My question is besides a dealership os there anywhere else I can get one programmed? I know a dealership will have the DRB III to get into the computer, but who else?
  11. Yep, a Smart Lock will help. There is one in my 'new to me' truck along with a Banks Brake. The only problem I have right now is the diaphragm in the actuator is leaking so the exhaust brake doesn't work. I am not sure how your transmission is on your '04, but on my '05 even with Tow/Haul engaged I still have overdrive, but at a higher speed. With the Smart Lock engaged O/D is locked out and I think there is lock up down to 35 mph.
  12. I dunno....... ya think he might see it as funny?
  13. Isn't that where "Other Duties as Assigned" comes into play?
  14. That's the bridge I remember!! Can't wait to see some of that stuff again! Is there a fuel filter that fits in the stock container that filters down to 3 microns?
  15. Hey Dripley, you may know the answer to this question......... If you take care of chickens does that make you a chicken tender? Asking for a friend....... Anyone know the difference between chicken and meat? If you beat your chicken it dies.........
  16. Hey Ben! Yeah, you can't get rid of me that easily!! How's things up nort??
  17. I plan on it! I would like to show my wife what it is like to come up US93 into Twin Falls so she can see what the bridge is like over the Snake River. It's probably been 34 years or so since I have crossed it, but I still remember it! I'm like that bad penny....... You never know where or when I will show up! I see you still have your avatar too!
  18. I acquired an older Pressure Pro last October. The sensors were old so just before the new year I called Pressure Pro for replacement sensors. They were $35 each but were going up to the price of new $50 each as of the first of the year. I ran eight sensors on my truck and trailer. I did like the idea od checking the pressure in any tire any time I wanted, but still did my walk around and checking things every time I stopped. I am thinking of getting a couple more sensors so I can have all my tires monitored all the time so that in case a tire goes down in pressure I can hopefully get air into it before it heats up and ultimately causes a blow out.
  19. That's what the plan is. My wife has not been west other than when I took her to Athol, ID in the semi and when we went to Yellowstone. I really want to get back to Utah too!
  20. Yea, I finally updated my truck a little...... My '96 was getting to where it was leaving a trail of cab parts (rust) and I never did get the brakes like they should be, plus the rear end was getting in tough shape. 330k miles and 22 years old I guess that happens, PLUS I had the transmission out of it three times in the last few years. Once for the input shaft, 1300 miles later because the transmission shop pt the wrong pump bushing in and it took out the pump seal and scored the snout on the converter, then I exploded the planetaries in the OD. Still have no idea how I managed that one...... I am in east Texas right now then we (wife and I) are heading to the hill country in west Texas fora month or so. We are suppose to be back in Minnesota by about the first of June for Dr. appointments. Thinking of Arizona next winter and maybe Alaska next summer!
  21. That's what I get for being away from things for a while..... and campground WIFI! I am not concerned about it, I got the info there that I wanted. Just thought maybe I was dong something wrong (again).....
  22. Don't forget the CBC trans controller! The trans controller actually works pretty good. This truck even with the Tow/Haul engaged still allows overdrive to work. With the controller I can lock out OD and have the converter locked in second. That would be a good thing if I get the brake working. The actuator is about 1/10 the cost of a new brake.
  23. Stupid question (I know, just consider the source), but I changed my signature and now if I try to use two lines I get the message that there are to many lines being used. Any suggestions?
  24. Michael, this set up has its own vacuum pump that gets mounted to the engine and is belt driven. https://s3.amazonaws.com/assets.bankspower.com/sdc/manual/97055-Dodge Exhaust Brake System-v9_web.pdf Dripley, that's what I was thinking too. I have considered converting it to air pressure, but then I wold need to engineer a mount for a cylinder. That would be way more work than it needs to be. Besides, when I get back to Mn I have a lot of other stuff to do to my truck and trailer, including installing air ride to the trailer.
  25. I'm guessing that this is a third gen truck so it isn't a Dana 80. It should be an AAM. If you want a build sheet for your truck go to this site: Build Sheet Let the site load then look on the left side for the words "Equipment Listing". Click that and the next screen will have a place to type in your VIN. Hit enter and you have the build sheet.
