1. $100 http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/94-98-engine/211976-holset-hx35-rebuild-pics.html DAP or CPP stock the rebuild kits
2. Drop the pan - look for hard parts, look for for clutch material, upload pic Its a 30 min job
3. Try it but dont think you will find much EGT reduction. People talk about it ..... but I think it has more to do with the exhuast side turbine rather than the AR of the housing. I prefer smaller AR housings for spoolup
4. Some thoughts 1) Slighlty overfill tranny fluid to ensure you have enough (it wont shift it too low) 2) Any clutch material in pan - any hardparts 3) Get a aftermarket VB and install ...... your going to need one anyway and you can do it in your driveway - it might do little but extend your tranny life - but since your just paying for the cost of something you will need anyway it doesnt hurt. 4) Issue only in D or R also ? 5) How about manually shifting gears ? 1,2 etc thx
5. No problems except you have no drive pressure release. Just dont go over 35psi. Aurora 3000 which is quite popular are non gated I believe (for example)
6. thanks guys - going to have to do this - figured that was how it was done ....... but was unsure on all the appliances loaded onto 1 12v circuit. Guess comming off the battery and having inline fuses helps with that.
7. For the turbo pull the air intake and check for oil out of the compressor fins or any damage or oil in the cold pipe going to the intercooler. Also look for oil out the exhaust.
8. hmm ok I get what your saying. I'll clean down the side of the block and make sure its not from something else ..... sure does look like it thoguh .... wonder if the oil passes over the outside of the cooler ... so inside seal is intact .... but outside seal for oil passage is a little weak.
9. yeah problem is with my twins - I think it might be hard to see the reduced EGT / spoolup as Im already pretty quick to 20psi and EGT low also. anyway ...... interesting ....
10. thats it !! Hows it work. IS #4 or #6 a gasket ? It leaks at bottom. Have tightened down the bolts and will see ..... how hard to pull and fix ?
11. Awesome awesome awesomecpl questions though1) This the correct ID and OD ? I guess I can go pull the lines off the truck and measure myself - but if u know

INSIDE DIAMETER1/2 in. (13mm)

REINFORCEMENT BRAIDS

OUTSIDE DIAMETER0.815 in. (21mm)

2) where do you actually order it - its talking about 50ft lenghts3) Can be used for AUTO coolant purposes ? Says glass/welding shops / foundries ....
12. So they all run off the same 12v circuit going to the shared block ? Need thicker guage wire to 12v and to ground due to more than 1 accessory ? What size AMP fuse do you use and how to tell ? How to control switched and non switch (simply by having a switch somehere on the panel - i.e - totally seprate to the block itself) ?? sorry - not very electrical
13. yeah 12v only But think what a tunnel ram does for you and that's just reduced resistance. Porting on the intake side is meant to help heaps ... but lots $$ Seems for $50 in parts - if you can fab yourself - this could be a significant help - especially to #5 +#6 Quicker spool and lower EGT for a stock/mild stock seems this would be a winner Id be up for trying it if someone wants to fab it
14. You dont have it on the 12v head ? Interesing. I dont think you would lose anything ...... maybe the stock fuel canister. It tees off at the intake tubing and theres not too much in the way there except wiring for apps/vacuum lines etc.
15. I want to add two more gauges to my truck.Even if mechanical probably needs wiring for the background lighting.Whats the easiest way to have them all running of a 12v power - rather than runnning 4-6 different wires to the battery or to fuse taps ? It gets MESSY.I need a real "junior" explanation with paint by numbers examples
16. Yeah basically what I plan to do. What size or where did you get the heat resistant hose ........
17. I think your overthinking it my engineering friend (but I AGREE - thats why I bit the bullet and went twins - I can run it from 300hp all the way to 550hp). think about (theoretically again as I dont know many people that have done it) running that second air pipe on a stock setup (hx35). Now you have a direct feed with little resistance or turns into the #5+#6 cylinder. I mean - a intake plate like a tunnel ram can drop EGT by 100-200 and increase spoolup by 50-100rpm ... what would this do ?? Direct FEED Stick it on the 12v and let us know I know you can fabricate this !!!
18. Hey gang - sharing info Someone PLEASE make one of these and put it on their truck and if it runs well make me one !!!!! Theoretically this is a $50 fab job and could be awesome for EGT and spoolup ..... theoretically http://www.pusherintakes.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=24vs2gCA common - who's putting their handup
19. So have a small leak on the passengers side of the block up front near the oil filter and front of the block. That big funny shaped (almost rectangular thing) thats closer to the front of the block than the oil filter or the heater block. Passenger side. How hard to take off and replace gasket - etc ...... - - - Updated - - - Very front of the passanger side of the block (kinda rectangular running up and down) http://roadmasterengineworld.com/images/dodge%20cummins%20engine.jpg Oil filter might bolt onto it ..... haven't checked but close
20. I want to get some with stainless steel coating that are heat resistant [close to my twins exhaust secondary]Any idea on size (ID and OD) ?? thanks
21. Yeah - pretty much have now Thanks team MM ......... got it done ...... good to have vents back ....... plugged up a couple holes on my windshield washer reservoir also .....
22. NO worries I figured as much. Gives me an excuse to finally replace my dash on year ..... I have enough line to create a connection - but cant lose anymore Why does the line have so many funny shaped couplers running along the firewall - eg wher ethe 90 degree bend is and a couple other places - rather than just a single normal line with a couple tees split off it ? If you follow me ...... Im going to get rid of the 90 degree coupling for example comming off the condensor and reroute around teh hot parts but wondered why all the funny coupling - since no special purpose ? I'll post a couple pics
23. Ok that was it have air vents again - what a crapper The line was burnt close to firewallAnyway to replace without pulling dash ?
24. Is there a vacuum line that goes into firewall by ac condensor line ? If so where does it feed onto main line on firewall of engine bay Looks like might have burned it off with the hot pipe of twins doh !!
