I'm Torn, Wonderin' If I should change out the VP.........
Normally the vp will cause hard starts and/ or low efficiency and power. Think you would be fine. Run some two stroke in it and watch for code and symptoms ..... You could sell as a useable vp on CF for around $500 if code doesn't come back and your upfront about code , mileage and how truck was running

ATS Stage 2 47RE Review
That's awesome. Keep this thread alive with updates from time to time. Yeah the whole ATS thing. But you know some of the biggest HP trucks run ATS transmissions. I think it's the customer service thing that let them down. same thing that DTT is going through now. Did you get a new flex plate ? What's the warranty ? I think it was smart going with a vendor that you can drive to.

my luck may be changing
Hell of a deal. When you starting ? I can probably hand beer and wrenches if required one weekend since I'm close now

Can we say dumb@$$?
I'd definately get him to find a new vp44 since he already agreed and that's strike two.

What's everyone's EGT temps?
Just plug it with one of these and have it tack welded (if you need for piece of mind) http://secure.chassisshop.com/partdetail/993301/ Then retap the manifold carefully with a tap piece and some grease ......... and your good to go. No problems after turbo - you just have less of a reference point (from other members knowing what temps you should be running) and your also further from the exhaust with a turbine inbetween .......... so some say less accurate

Slightly disappointed with MPG's
Aww common dorkweed - you should know i have more guages than most by now 3.53 gears towing a 8000lb 5th wheel. Same day, same road, about 4 hours later - next fillup - dropped it around 10mph, towing in OD. We were moving to FL. Basically at 65-70 where I normally tow I get exactly 250 miles out of my tank when it reads 1/2 full. When I fill up its just below half on my fuel guage and hand calc results in ~12 mpg if its easy pulling, 11 mpg if its hard. Since I95S was SOOO flat and for many many hundreds of miles I decided to try the slower speed test. The overhead was suggesting I picked up + ~0.75mpg ..... but actual calculation was 4 miles shorter than than previous fillup at higher speed. So as far as I know - no tailwind (It wasnt windy anyway), as consistent conditions as possible. Right now I can only attest the following * There's a certain amount of fuel/power required to tow 8000lbs - and that prevents large net increases regardless of speed. * Like others have mentioned about the sweet spot for truck. Dropping 10mph might be slightly less efficient. I'll have to try it without towing ...... but generally that gets harder due to variations in driving and traffic and stops etc. I totalluy understand Mikes theory and it logically makes sense to me - I just havent seen anything make substantial difference in net MPG apart from timing chip. Speed seems to have less effect for my truck. Now I dont know what would have happened if I had increased 10mpg - eg 68-78 ...... maybe then it would have been terrible. I do know that if I run 55 without OD ...... so my rpms go from say 1400 to 2100 then I get bad mileage. - - - Updated - - - Your trucks different Ryan. I think its the weight, low profile and tires and the mechanical injection. Plenty of 12 valves pulling close to 25-27 mpg. Very rare in a 24v. Generally 18-22 mpg.

"built" 47RE woes
So What was the diagnosis ?? Any updates ??

Slightly disappointed with MPG's
Thanks George. Yes It was the "truest" test I could think of doing whilst towing. Same road, same day, all flat. Dropping 10mph resulted in no NET mpg. I figured theres a certain amount of fuel required just to move the trailer .... and maybe having sped up 10MPH would have shown affect the towing heavy trailer ...... but based on mikes results and theory (which makes sense) on wind drag I was suprised to not even net 1mpg ........

How do you bend all 12 pushrods?
thanks I remember stuffing up on a valve lash ........... really made the truck run bad ..... only for 10 seconds .... but always wondered if I could have slightly bent a pushrod ....

"built" 47RE woes
Ill almost guarantee they will say its leaking and needs a rebuild. Curious what the diagnosis is and what the estimate $$ is Try calling Frank at Revmax and have a chat with him. Same with Goerand. good luck

How do you bend all 12 pushrods?
What would Symptoms of a bent pushrod only be ?

Slightly disappointed with MPG's
It's just guys tuning their trucks. Some for HP , some for mileage , some for both. Each to their own - I do both ... But like Rogan says this forum is for guys more in tune to efficiency and longevity ;) keep it in mind

Slightly disappointed with MPG's
Same trip , same road , just 250 miles later:) no diff that I could tell

Slightly disappointed with MPG's
Mike - was towing on 95s to Florida - Very Flat. Thought I'd try your theory of slowing down. Dropped about 8-10 mph from 65-68 down to 58 ... No net gain in mpg after 250 miles ..,. About 12.3 towing .... Any thoughts ?

mpgs
You went with DAP RV275 - they are cheap chinese knockoff junk. . . . *GOTCHYA* That's weird - as asked how are they running ? Start fine ? No fuel leaks back of head ? No Boost leaks ???? I know shouldn't be injector related ...... but you know No codes ? Worst case ping DAP (Jacob) and see if he can switch you out to another set ....... very rarely they get and issue like all builders ........... hes normally awesome about that kind of thing ..... definitely call him

Marine Engines for boats
What about an older INBOARD ......... will that be 2 stroke ?? Say Volvo Penta 5.0 L ?

Marine Engines for boats
Russ - this might be for you Anyone else feel free alsoThinking about buying me a boat. I have no idea on gas engines never worked on one (car or boat). I assume the principles are the same except you have spark plugs for ignition rather than combustion and carburetor for balancing the air/fuel mix.So a bit on that but a focus on marine boat engines (inboard or outboard). How hard are they to work on, what to look for when going to check out a boat and common pain/$$ points.Looking for a good overview - not too much specific detail at first .....:thumbup2:thanks !!!

new cure for p1689
kinda similar to mikes relay observation (effectively a circuit issue) http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-technical-diagnostics/116431-p1689-error-code-cause-code-found.html

"built" 47RE woes
That probably rules out safe mode and linkage issues .... Filter , constant line pressure , fluid level *shrug*
