  1. Just a little update. The Napa starter has been working great and was an excellent choice ?
  2. CF can be a PITA to navigate at times. Be sure to tell him to not overlook this sight for quality information. The guys here talk from experience and many possess knowledge well beyond their years.
  3. Howdy all! I haven't been on in awhile and wanted to see how everyone was doing. I know that most of you live quite a good ways north of me (I'm about 45 mins south of Houston Tx) so y'all will probably laugh at the following. Last night at 9:45pm it was about 75° with calm winds and by a little after 10pm it was 45° with the wind gusting to 35+ mph. It's currently 32° but feels like 28° which is actually pretty dang cold for this area. The nice thing is that it actually feels like Christmas instead of summer ?
  4. Got the steering box and pump put on today. The truck drives better than it ever has and I'm not leaving a trail of fluid everywhere I go lol. I filled the system with power steering fluid as per the FSM information that Michael posted. Now it's on to the next problem, a throttle linkage ball joint that pops off with the slightest touch.
  5. Thanks! What type of fluid should I run in the new box, ATF +4 or regular power steering fluid?
  6. @Mopar1973Man I'm replacing the pump too, it's been run low on fluid so many times that I don't trust it. @leathermaneod I don't have hydroboost. @IBMobile What type of filter are you using?
  7. I'm going to order a box from Bluetop tomorrow
  8. I betting the previous owner of my truck hammered the wee out it before I got it ?
  9. All of the complete kits I've come across so far are listed as "not available". Thanks for the suggestions.
  10. It's looking like I'm going to have to pony up for rebuilt steering gear ?
  11. Anyone know where to get a complete rebuild kit that includes the bushings/bearings?
  12. The steering gear on my 96' 2500 4x4 has a lot of play in it and leaks quite a bit. The steering shaft has a decent amount of lateral play so it either needs to be rebuilt or replaced. The biggest issue with rebuilding it is finding a kit that has bearings/bushings and not just seals.
  13. I ended up buying one from NAPA since I needed the truck.
  14. My starter took a dump and after pulling it off found that it's an AC Delco and not a Denso. Can this starter be rebuilt and is it worth it?
  15. Hookers and blow man, it's always hookers and blow.
  16. You'd be surprised how many people don't understand stand that. A good example can be seen on one of the gun forums I frequent. Those who live behind enemy lines (so to speak) in ban states are always told they need to move to a free state like it's no big deal. Plenty of those people have lived there their entire lives along with their entire family and have careers that took many years to build up.
  17. That's exactly how we're anchoring it down. Believe it or not the way we lifted it meets city code (we don't have to follow it since we're not in the city but wanted a guideline to go by). Once everything is situated you can go back and jack up the house by each stack of blocks, remove the two top blocks, then fill the stack with concrete. This is also the way they build a lot of beach houses which are hurricane rated. A little history on this house.... At one time my grandparents and great grandparents (both on my mom's side) lived out here. My grandparents lived in a trailer house and my great grandparents lived in this house. It's only 450 sq ft and was built locally back in the 60's. My great grandparents came from the time of small cabins out in the woods with no electricity, no plumbing, and dirt floors. They didn't want anything larger than this house and thought it was a mansion with air conditioning and all. The house remained unchanged for many years until my parents sold the lot it was on after my great grandparents had passed and my grandparents moved. Years later they ended up buying it back. Later on (back around 97') my Grandma Krpec (dad's mom) passed and my dad inherited 7 acres. We ended up digging two ponds and moving this house out to that 7 acres over looking the ponds. Eventually we moved it back out here and sold that land due to falling on hard times. I've lived in this place off and on for last ~12 years. Had a rent house in town for a while with my ex-fiancé, that ended very badly and moved back here. I moved to a town about an hour away for a new job that ended up being a bust and moved back again. My gf and I have been together almost 7 years and she's lived out here with me for the last 4. We've decided this is where we want to live for the long haul, flooding river be damned. This little house has seen a lot over the years and I'm pretty sure it was worth the original $3k price too lol. I know to some the hassle of dealing with the river seems like a valid reason to leave and not come back. I've tried leaving a couple of times and ended up completely miserable. This is my home and there is a LOT of history here. Even though the river has been my best friend and my worst enemy I'm tied to. It's a part of me and helped make me who I am. Like the Alan Jackson song "Home" says, "They'll never be another place in this world that I'll call home."
  18. @Mopar1973Man I thought I had already posted a pic but didn't It's been leveled since those pics were taken. We were in a rush to beat the river so it we didn't do the best leveling job right then. It's also going to be anchored down as well.
  19. Yall' are good! It's my father in-law's 66' Mustang convertible rally edition. He just got it a couple weeks ago, it's all original except for the paint. That's the original engine, it's been rebuild and only has ~1500 miles on it. Well we're finally back home! Last night was the first night we've spent here in almost 4 months.

  21. I used the thin injector washers when I installed the new injectors and I'm thinking about trying the medium ones since I haze pretty good at idle. Thoughts?
  22. It was coming out clear before I used the Thermocure. So far I'm quite impressed with this product.
