Fender Repair
I have a story to share!Within a week of the day that I bought my truck, I had an accident.Nope not vehicle! It was my truck verses a shopping cart at Walmart! As the wife and I were leaving a Walmart store a shopping cart came out from between two cars and Pow hit my right rear fender.Well I was moving about 15 miles per hour and it was moving at a unknown speed. It broke my fender! -- split it --- split was almost the whole length of fender running up and down to the bottomI went imediatley to the manager and we took pictures. Then I went to a body shop and got an estimateThe price of the fender alone was like over a thousand dollars I gave the estimate to walmart.total bill was like around $1,800 if i remember correctly.Believe it or not they paid me. Sent a check.Ok thats not the story yet!I went to the paint store and got a pint of matching paint and thinner etc. They asked me why don't you repair it yourself! and then they said we sell a plastic repair thay you mix up like body filler. They said it is mainly used on bumper repairs, but would work on the fender.Ok I bought some, not very costly. I went home and took out the rear fender well and it was very easy.on the inside it was very clean. So i worked the fender back into what was near the original postion, and put some air conditioning aluminum tape on the inside of the fender to hold it in place.Mind you this tape you cant get at lowes or home depot or wherever. This tape is made of pure aluminum with sticky on one side. Just peel and stick. It is some tuff stuff. Ok after putting the tape on it was almost like it had never been hit.Now I took my dremel tool with a small rotary file in it and sat down and slowly ground out the crack so it was almost all the way through. It is very easy to tell when your almost through you can see the broken area.. I did that all the way down the fender top to bottom, and then mixed up the plastic repair putty and smeared it in the crack, leaving it slightly higher then the fender. Now I used a rotary sander -- my wood sander -- sanded it smooth and put some primer on it.Off to the body shop! payed them $100 to spray paint the fender with my paint. That was in 2003 here it is 2010 and it still is holding great and can't be seen.So for me I had a net income of about $1500 for a days work! That is my story and maybee it might come in handy for someone else here that has a broken fender on the rear of their dodge truck

One of the reasons I bought my diesel truck was!For the last 6 years of my working life I drove nothing but diesel equiptment ( Meow )No names mentioned.I worked them hard every day I drove at least 8 hours a day on the job moving dirt with a front end loader ( model 966 )I loved it! So one month before I retired I got my truck!Ok I had some problems with my vp44, I am learning, and still love my truck even though I don't drive it much.

Not a truck or Diesel Post
I hope this is not to far out for a post!I am 68 years old, and now have the Diabetes! My blood sugar level had gotten up to 400! Not Good.So I now take the pills to lower my blood sugar, just like everyone else. Now here is my reason to post.I have discovered a product that anyone can get from most health food stores, or asian cusiune store. It is called Palm Sugar or sometimes coconut sugar. It tastes like brown sugar, and not bad.The reason I am using it is: It has a low glycemic index of 33 that means two teaspoons of this sugar is like almost nothing in comparison to regular sugar. It is high in potassium and other stuff, so it is not a people killer.Since I have been using it my blood sugar is down to 120 in the morning and that is after eating cookies in the late evening, and I have reduced my meds by half.Ok I'm no doctor and I don't sell stuff. But for a couple bucks you might help your self.Just wanted to share something in my life that might help someone else

Final Follow up on new lift pump with my rebuilt vp44
Got me a better gauge today and checked my pressure on my lift pump. Got a 0 to 30 psi gauge. On starter bump i get 14 psi.start engine and run im getting 12 psi at idle.Put truck in gear, hold brake and acelerate i run at 9 psi when really pulling hard.So I'm hoping that is good enough for my stocker around town.OH yeah! I never realized how stupid I am.I realized I have a intercooler on my truck! Duh! I was thinking it was my air conditioning condensor.Like they say sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees.

Gauges
I would like to see some pictures of where people have put gauges in the 2001 dodge 3500 trucks.I don't see any real place to put any other then the pillars on the side, and I think that would be very hard. Thanks Ahead for any response to this postElshadow

follow up
I posted earlier about my pressure to my vp44 and miss quoted the pressure.I just went out and rechecked my guage. I guess I was in a haste and miss read my guage.Cranking I get : 10 psiIdle I get : 12 psiFull load I get: 7 psiI usually don't use my truck for anything except go to the store, or an ocasioanal hauling of manure or maybee some rocks for around the house.Mostly just very minor things in town.I want to get a guage with more span on it now the one i have is 0- 100 psi so it might even be a little better

Question on Fuel temperature
Ok I have been reading posts on fuel temperature effecting the vp44.No one is saying what is a good temperature for the fuel! How hot is to hot?How cold is to cold?If the overflow valve is not allowing fuel to return to the tank then you are stuck with the temperature that is coming from the tank.If the overflow valve is open then the temperature is what is generated under the hood and from friction in the pump and injector pump!So would a inline cooler be a improvement? then if the air is to cold it seems like it would be a detrament and you would want a inline heater.Just some thoughts in my head and I would like to see other peoples thought on this
