Hi guys, long time no posts, busy being a grand dad. Anyway had old Red out the other day and found out I had no low beams. Bulbs are fine and come on with the high beams, but not by themselves, Ideas? Mark

Disappearing Brake Fluid
Annnnnnd the winner is..... Tractorman! Yup, brake line between tank and frame was rusted and had a hole in it. With all the dirt and gravel in there it acted like a sponge for the fluid, took it a while to drip. Now I just have to see if I can run a new line in there, or if I have to drop the tank to fix it. Thanks for all the advice/suggestions, now I just need some time to get this done. Mark

Disappearing Brake Fluid
Checked drums and front calipers, no sign of leakage. No puddles on the floor, or evidence of a leak under the truck. For the amount of fluid I've put in this truck I would think that I'd find a puddle or some kind of sign of a leak. Not sure how I could go from no sign of a problem to a completely dry master cylinder without any sign of a leak. Defiantly a head scratcher. Mark

Disappearing Brake Fluid
Got in the truck the other day to go to town, and when I get to the end of the driveway the brake pedal goes straight to the floor, no resistance at all. Good thing I'm used to downshifting coming to a stop. Anyway, get the thing back home and the master cylinder's empty, and no sign of a leak anywhere. I had last driven it three weeks prior with no problems. Refilled master cylinder, worked the brakes, and refilled again, let sit. Checked two days later, refilled master, checked for evidence of leak and found nothing. As it sits right now, I've got about a quart of fluid into it, very spongy pedal, ( I know I have to bleed them) and still no evidence of a leak anywhere. I could bleed them, but where did the fluid go in the first place? Mark

You nailed it Drip. After doing a interweb search with "water in fuel", "low oil pressure", and "cummins code P0237" it actually sent me to a thread on this site from 2018. Same symptoms, not the same conclusion, but close enough. After looking at Mike's wiring diagrams I got out the multimeter and started checking voltage. Turns out the MAP sensor was shorted to ground. So now the question is, did the jump start cause this, or just a coincidence? Mark

Limp mode
No major boost leaks I can see, the major point here I think is my inability to clear the codes. The p0237 code maybe indicating short to ground somewhere, either the sensor or the wiring. Disconnected power and let it sit for 3 hrs, codes still come up with ignition on, not running. No power when running, low throttle response, feels like it's definitely de-fueling. Mark

No, I can't build boost, 5-7 psi max. on a side note, my oil pressure is now 20 psi lower ( on the factory gauge) there is no acceleration. I'm fixen to go nuclear and unhook the batteries and reboot the system. Mark

Was a nice guy yesterday and gave a friend a jump start, wasn't watching when he hooked up and now I've got a water in fuel light and a check engine light. Scanned it and have a p0237 and a P1693 code, it will not let me clear them. Ideas? Please tell me he didn't fry my ECM. Mark

Armored 2nd Gen...just in case
If you're actually considering doing this, it would probably be better to look into a armored seat like they use in helicopters. Mark

Moving to almost the great white north.
I'm guessing you already tried International Falls, Bemidji is probably the closest you'll find a dealership. Mark

Moving to almost the great white north.
Yup, they paint it green for a reason. People up here love them, but there's some serious sticker shock! The red stuff (International) is usually cheaper and does the same job. Unless you want new, keep an eye one the auctions, Craigs list usually kind of high. Mark

Armored 2nd Gen...just in case
Mostly I load my own 5.56 and 7.62 NATO. I find that I can build a better more accurate round than I buy. If you want, I will share my recipes. Keep in mind that every rifle is different, and some tuning is required. Just like Mike and his Quad tunes, these work for my boom sticks, but may need to tweeked for yours. Mark PS I have other loads as well if you really want to go down the rabbit hole.

Armored 2nd Gen...just in case
My part time gig is as a concealed weapons instructor, and a 24 year combat infantry vet. Permit or no permit, get yourself some professional training! Practice with your weapon (it's fun), dry fire, practice mag changes and drawing. The thing to remember is "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast". Far to many people think it's not hard to draw a weapon and take a shot that actually hits what they want to hit. This is not the movies where you can fire from the hip and hit every time. The most common question I get is "What is it like?" The only way I can think of getting close is run about a quarter mile, then do some pushups. Now try to draw and hit your target, because that's what's going to happen, your heart rate will go straight up, your field of vision will narrow, and complex tasks become more difficult. This is why the Army does so much repetitive training, if you do something the same way, time after time, it will become muscle memory, and easier to do in a high stress environment. Once the two way rifle range starts, and you start hearing rounds go by, no matter how many times it's happened before, your heart rate will go up, but training can help you function and be able to deal with it. Okay, I'm done with my rant, and if you've read this far, if nothing else become proficient with your weapon. Mark

Moving to almost the great white north.
You should have some Bald Eagles up there to, we've got enough of them down here. Also: Great horned Owls Hawks Gray wolves Coyotes Black bear Moose Deer up to our ears Grouse Wild Turkey Red Fox Beaver Of all of them, the worst thing to run into is a pissed off bull moose, those things can be nasty. First thing that comes to my mind is "Chinook". If you've never heard that word before, it's a warm up in the middle of winter followed by a return of cold weather. Could be I'm just cynical of good fortune, but time and experience have taught me to be leery of things that seem to good to be true. Mark

Looking at a significant warm up here in Frost Bite Falls, and my heat bill loves it. Not really normal for our winters up here on the tundra, and I can't help but thinking we're only at halftime of this winter waiting for the second half. Is Old man Winter rolling up his sleeves, and saying hold my beer? Mark

Noticed a fuel smell and a few drops on the pavement.
What size were they? I've got a bunch of viton o-rings that should work for this.
