  1. That's what I do too. 4 gauge right to the seat bolt. I'll do that with the stereo, ground to a nearby bolt in addition to the harness, just for good measure. I have some extra 4 gauge so. I'll do the big 3 with it. First time with an ebay head unit.. I don't think I'd recommend it but for $50, I'm not complaing...too much. I figure I'll let the eq/dsp do most of the work later on. So far today no start or stop pops so. I think I'm in good shape.
  2. Thanks for the tips, yes the ebay stereo wires are super thin and cheap. Of course you know the instructions that come with these are lacking to say the least. I got to thinking about it and the auto antenna / amplifier blue wire as it's mentioned in the manual is really just for auto antenna. There is a delay in turning it off. I ran my amplifier remote wire to the switched red wire and my turn off pop is gone. This is because it turns the amp off with the key and then the stereo turns off. At first I thought I may need a delayed relay to eliminate start up pop but so far so good. No thumps. Thanks fellas.
  3. A relay makes sense Any specifics on what you used? Or just any relay will do?
  4. I have an issue that you small electronics guys may have a solution for. When I turn off my car stereo, there is a delay for the screen to shut down. Once the stereo turns off there is a loud thud from the subwoofers connected to an amp. I have reduced the remote turn on wire from 12v to 5v via (2) 1k ohm resistors and still does it. My thinking is that there it a voltage spike when the radio turns off causing the problem. What would I use to catch this or how would I "filter" this spike?
  5. Well ecu back and a lot running well with the new software, oil pressure is working now. However, I can't figure out why the Quadzilla won't read mph. Still 0. Speedo works on the Instrument cluster but nothing on the Quadzilla. I guess I'll try a new map sensor? Truck runs great, just no mph
  6. I'm trying to decide between the S200GX-E faster spool or the Super B Special SX-E S363 more top end. I don't tow. Can any turbo gurus help me decide? Anyone have experience with these? Thanks! Oh, and of course open to other recommendations, but these are what I've narrowed it to with my lack of skill. ?
  7. Thanks @Dieselfuture , I shipped it off to Bob Wagner from Smarty "bob-wagner@msn.com". For $115 he can repair and reprogram the ECM with the updated OEM software and my VIN. I should have it back Monday and hopefully some good news to share!
  8. Well it seems like this is an issue with the ECM, I tested it in my other 99 dodge I'm getting ready to sell and it immediately ran TERRIBLY. I'm talking with Bob Wagner over at Smarty and it looks like at one time had a Van Aaken or edge box added to the truck via the ECM port. I'm trying to get this repaired/reflashed. Hopefully I can put this to bed soon. Does anyone else have experience with flashing ECMs (Updating VIN, flashing software to the eeprom)?
  9. I made new grounds and terminal lugs today while I fixed the ground Reference for the VP44,ECM,PCM,PDC. Another oddity to throw in besides the codes,1693, 0237, 0501, 0522 & 0573 sometimes the coolant will display on the Quadzilla as -40* So the issues are: -Erratic behavior on Oil pressure & coolant -No MPH Question. I have another '99 outside, if this is a ecu problem could I plug that one on this truck?
  10. It reports 0 at idle. Normal when driving.
  11. I don't wanna root a new stereo because of an app. This is my solution.
  12. All zero till I start driving. Then it reads correctly, but at idle, drops to zero again. Now that is just on the dash display. Manually tested with a gauge on top of the oil filter and that reads properly.
  13. Hmm well I have errors, no check engine light though, which is strange. 1693 0237 0501 0522 0573 I've replaced the map sensor already, no change. I wonder if I have a bad ecu? I'll google some more.
  14. Ok, I'll have to go get one at autozone. Maybe it will help. I tried the Bluetooth one but it's not reading right.
  15. Just checked and no errors with the 3 key turn.
  16. Oh man. That sounds like a needle in a haystack. I'll do some research.
  17. I just finished installing my 4" Turbo back exhaust on the new truck today. When I was done, I went for a spin and noticed I have no mph being displayed on the Quadzilla. I didn't check it before so don't know if this is the issue or not. Speedo is fine on the truck, what am I missing?
  18. I thought I'd try an 7' android (not android auto) double din car stereo, just got it in today and nope, quadzilla app won't run on it. Annoying. Sending it back. This has got to be an app thing. I suppose I'll try to fit a tablet in somewhere. Phone is too small for me.
  19. We'll this was interesting. I went to have this done and the shop foreman showed me that the Chrysler tool won't connect to the PCM...I assume this is because of the engine swap. I was able to get past it my modifying the gauge cluster but brings me to the concern of communication with the PCM. The truck drives fine and quadzilla works fine. Remember this is a 99 with an 01 engine. On a side note he was able to adjust the pinion value for the larger size tires. Thoughts?
  20. Yeah this is an interesting setup. There is a third wire - light green/red stripe. This is for the airbag and has to have 3v applied, if not, the seatbelt light comes on. I'll have to do some testing tonight.
  21. Yep, I sure did...but I forgot to plug the original one back in... That's what working under an engine light rather than daylight will cause ya to miss. Thanks for the help!
  22. On my other 99 ram after I took off the Quadzilla, I am left with these 2 codes. Any one else have this happen? How did you go about clearing them or fixing the issue. No boost elbow, all stock now.
  23. I put in a seatbelt that goes in the seat itself and does not have the electrical connections on the recoil mechanism. Instead this one relays on the buckle holder to close the circuit(red and black wires coming out. Anyway, I always wear my seatbelt but since the truck thinks the circuit is open, I have a seatbelt light on the dash. After reviewing the wiring diagram, it looks like I can just connect the orange/red to the black/green to bypass the in seat module. Or connect the orange/black to the new red and the black to the black/green. Any thoughts on this?
  24. Ok I think I found the issue. Scheduling an appt with the dealership.
  25. Pretty sure it's an '01. I'll give cummins a call, thanks!
