  1. I bought the truck in the pic. It's a 99 dodge ram 2500 5.9 manual 4x4. It had a 55 block swap and trying to determine the year of engine is in the truck. Any help is appreciated!
  2. Ok, the oil pressure is fine. Ran a guage up under the wiper and is in the normal range. Must be the sending unit. I agree with the oil type, and will use my regular chevron delo on my first oil change with the new truck. Just going down the list of things to check.
  3. I know the oil pressure sending units and readout are not the best in the 99 dodge rams. Mine is fine when running but drops to 0 at idle. The engine sounds perfect so I assume it's the sensor / sending unit. My question, does using fully synthetic affect this at all? I wouldn't think so but thought I'd ask.
  4. I have some work ahead of me to buckle down the engine (studs) but I'm in the planning stages for what's to come. I'm curious if the stock intercooler is too restrictive or if an aftermarket is the way to go for more flow after the turbo selection. My truck is used very lightly for towing, if at all, goal is to get it as far as I can! I'm all about the speed and torque and love this stuff. Ultimately I'd like to take it and see how it fares on the track for fun. I want to customize the truck to be one of a kind and just my powerhorse. That's it, fun, learning, speed. I attempted to study the math on turbos and ...WTF, that's a lot of calculations so until I truly understand it, I'll go with yall's recommendations. It's pretty amazing how much I've already learned just on this forum. By the way, I'm a programmer and sit in an office all day so, this is the main reason I have a horsepower craving lol
  5. So which is really better suited, a single 62/68/12 or a compound setup HT3B with the existing hx35?
  6. Good combo. The all in one tablet is a cool option, still lacks a built in look though. I wonder that the tunes look like that PDD put on?
  7. I run 'Me78569 RaceTune' most of the time And 'fun / Daily tune mid injectors trucks' here and there. Long trips I use an economy one from Mopar1973Man. I wish I knew more about how to understand the Quadzilla V2 Excel Tune Builder. Works great if you know what you're looking at ?
  8. Interesting, I have dash command. I'll dig into the PIDs a little too, see if I can make out anything.
  9. Yeah, so far. Solenoid and deep sump. I have talked with Dynamic and will probably get on the Stage 3 setup. Although the Mrs. did say that if I blow this one up that I can get a tranny or a new truck Anyone know if you can just upgrade the Hx35w (54/60/12) to a 62 compressor & 68 turbine in the Hx35 12cm2 housing?
  10. Well I have a 2wd, gotta have a larger stance somehow
  11. Good info guys, so in theory, I could actually swap gears to a 4.11 gear set and have a final ratio of 3.73, almost identical to having 245's on.
  12. Where is the low power? I've been pondering this. Turbo upgrade? Diff gears? ECM mod? You get to a point when all forms and info get so jumbled you forgot what you are looking for. I don't tow much, some, but not much. I want that tire burning diesel action when I feel the need to use it. I can get about 35 lbs of boost with my setup, which is good, egts climb to the 1500s at Wot( rarely at Wot) . Little worried about that. From what I read my Hx35w (54/60/12) is a good turbo, but a 60/60/12 or 62/68/12 would spool faster. But would that rip the tires loose? If so what is the right turbo internal upgrade? I thought about changing diff gears to 4.11 for low end power with my 285s but my current 3.55 seems to be where I need to be.. I think. I've also heard talk about a Mad catcher ECM mod ripping off the line but don't know how it plays with quadzilla. Once I'm rolling, it's on, but from a dead stop what's the magic ingredient to rip loose? What am I missing?
  13. SavageTusk posted a post in a topic in Ford
I'd go this route with it,
  14. Curious, what are your power goals?
  15. So something like a Suncoast Category 3 SunCoast 47RE Rebuild Kit would cover it. Any other recommendations?
  16. I'm stuck on a topic that I see a lot on 2nd gens, especially moving up in horsepower. Beef up the transmission, upgrade the tranny, etc. What is the most practical option to do this? I'm looking to get to the 500hp range. Suggestions? Thanks in advance!
  17. Interesting, I did a tps/apps reset today and fingers crossed.. Sounds great! Almost seems too easy. I'll check the valves over the weekend just to be on the safe side when I install the double deep tranny pan. Hopefully the injectors were set properly and it doesn't come to that.
  18. Hm, well maybe I spoke too soon. Everything runs fine but seems a bit off. My instincts tell me that it's missing.. like the timing is off a bit. Maybe I was off in the valve lashing? Wish I could explain it better. If it's missing it has to be just barely. I lashed the valves using the pictured steps. Maybe I need to check it again. Thoughts?
  19. Well I got the 7X0.0095 SAC injectors installed today and everything is running! ? I also set the valve lashing, man that really quieted the engine. So far so good! Finding a good tune now :D
  20. Have em rhino line the whole thing and call it a day. The small dents make rhino Liner look better!
  21. That would be ideal. I do like this truck. I'll have to get the Mrs. on board with a tranny upgrade... Cough<repair>cough ??
  22. Agree, I have this reoccurring thought. Sitting at 220000 on my diesel. Runs like a top, no rust, clean inside with sound dampening throughout and nice performance mods.. Downside? 2wd. Just wondering if I go to the top with a stage 3 tranny OR sell it. And get a 4wd then beef it up. ? Idk, tough decision.
  23. You thinking a performance transmission valve body and a deep sump will? It should hold around 400-450 rwhp..? Trying not to jump into a performance trans just yet..
  24. Hey KATOOM, I think my signature should be updated now. My drivetrain is stock except for the GM Transmission Governor Pressure solenoid conversion.
