Brake Controller - Dash Panels?
Thanks guys. I guess I just need to start pulling wires to find out where things go. The guy that had the truck before me liked to do things right so I assume a 3500 Dually came with a tow package. I would bet he took it to the Dodge dealer to have it done. I am getting too old to be standing on my head under a dash board....

Brake Controller - Dash Panels?
I hate the break controller in the 2001 3500 I bought and I want to change it out. My question is does the Dodge have a plug like comes with some controllers, or do you have to hard wire it in. Next question, How do you go about taking the lower dash panels off? Thanks In advance Earl

Raptor FRRP or FASS DDRP ?
Everybody has their own preference when it come to mechanical vs electric. I like mechanical, but then I am an old fart, and have been using them for years. I got the ISSO three gauge set from Vulcan. The fuel gauge was a snap, but the pyro took some work. I took the turbo off just to make sure I wouldn't get any crap in it. Routing all that stuff up thru the A piller wasn't fun either. But I am too old to be standing on my head under a dash. LOL

A fuel gauge will take the guess work out of that....

Raptor FRRP or FASS DDRP ?
Good question on the tester. Never used one. I bought my truck and put the three gauge pod on right away. That was one of the things everyone recommended doing first, so I that is what I did. The one thing that improved the performance on my truck more than anything was putting the 4" exhaust on. WOW what a difference.

Raptor FRRP or FASS DDRP ?
I go from the tank to a single can filter/water separator - from that to the Raptor - from the Raptor to the stock filter - from the stock filter to the VP 444. I have removed the stock lift pump from the motor. My big line kit only goes from the draw straw to the stock filter. I left the stock lines on from the stock filter to the VP44. I am sure that hurts me a bit, but even when I am towing I take it very easy with this truck. If my temps get up to 1100 when I am climbing a hill while towing, I just grab a gear and back it down under a 1000. I try not to get much over 950 pulling a big hill. The guy a Vulcan said that not putting the big line kit from the stock filter to the VP44 wouldn't hurt with a basically stock set up like I have. But, I think next spring before I start towing again, I put the bigger line on all the way. Just to be on the safe side.Doing research is a good thing. I did that before I did mine. The guys on this site are the best. Everyone is always willing to help. I know I ask a bunch of questions that were very elementary and everyone was very helpful.Yes I have started running the 2 stroke oil. I could notice my pump didn't make as much noise after I started using it.

Raptor FRRP or FASS DDRP ?
Vulcan Performance is the place..... Great people... By the way, the Raptor is working out just fine. Stock draw straw, extra real filter before the pump, and big line kit to the stock filter. Didn't do the big line from the stock filter to the 44. So far so good. Very happy with the set up.

Possible 5th gear nut fix for the NV4500.
So far so good with mine also. The rear seal is starting to weep just a little. Not enough to drip oil, but just enought to have some residue. I wonder if pulling off the tail housing to change the seal, then pull the nut off, clean everything, lock tight the heck out of it, put it back on would be good preventaive medicine? It seems like after it comes off that is the point of no return as far as a simple fix is concerned. Perhaps getting ahead of the game would be a good plan.

Possible 5th gear nut fix for the NV4500.
Here is a link to a transmission shop that is claiming they invented it. http://fifthgearrepair.com/nv4500repair.html Does this only happen to 4x4 NV4500's? No one ever seems to mention two wheel drive NV4500's...

Help choosing gauges
Not really. I think it was my fault for not getting the line completely full of fluid.

Help choosing gauges
I just found one draw back to the mechanical fuel gauge. At first I thought my lift pump was acting up because the pressure dropped to 13 lbs and wouldn't go higher no matter what I did to the pump. Called Eric at Vulcan and he told me to check the isolator on the fuel gauge. The diaphragm in the isolator was too extended. I had to take the gauge side fitting off and push it back with a pencil. Now everything is back to normal at 19lbs fuel pressure.

Help choosing gauges
Call Vulcan Performance. They hooked me up with all mechanical ISSPRO gauges. Drilling the hole for the Pryo probe was a pain. I took off the turbo, but everything came out ok, it just took longer than I thought it would.

New 4" exhaust!
One of the best things I ever did to my truck was put the 4” exhaust on it. It was the last thing I did and man did it wake the truck up. I am like you, I love the sound and the extra performance. One guy wrote that some of these accessories should come with a disclaimer, “May cause permanent smile”

Air dog Raptor 100 pressure is variable
My Raptor will be lower when the intake heater is on, and lower when it is cooler, but will slowly come around to where it was set at 20 lbs when everything warms up. But it is only 4 lbs low when cold, so I don’t worry about it.

Shift Point's
Before I put the 4” exhaust on I would shift around 2000 to 2100 in each gear. That was where it felt and sounded like what the truck wanted. Now with the new exhaust it wants to go to 2500 to 2700 easily. When I am towing I notice I get lower EGT’s by letting it wind a bit in each gear before shifting so I have slowly adapted to driving like that now.

What fuel pressure do you run if you have a gauge?
When I ordered my Raptor from Vulcan I ask for the fittings to put on my Carter as a spare so I could duck tape it in place of the Raptor just in case it failed out on the road when I was towing. I am even thinking now that I just might get an extra Raptor to put in the trailer. Since I am towing a race car I always have spares and tools with me. Just good insurance because I hate being broken down in some small town and being at the mercy of who knows who...

4" Exhaust
I got mine from Vulcan Performance. It was a Diamond... It is a good exhaust, but if I had it to do over again I would buy a better kit. It came with all the hangers as bolt on hangers and it was a pain in the butt to install. I would spend more money and buy one that had all the hangers welded on in the stock location just for ease of installation. It should have taken less than an hour to install, but I was at it for the better part of two and a half hours getting everything lined up right. Sounds good though... It was worth it.

4" Exhaust
You will like the BHAF... It takes about 5 min to install... The only bad part, and you don't really have to do this, but you might want to build a mount for it. I am building a simple one for mine.

4" Exhaust
I finally got my 4” exhaust hooked up yesterday. WOW, what a difference it made in the old heap. It really woke the truck up. I can’t believe the difference it made on how quickly the truck revs up. I drive it like an old man (of course I am) and usually shift the truck around 2 to 22 thou. Now I can’t stop the thing from reving to 3 before I can move the lever. Been racing and building hot rods all my life and I have never seen an exhaust make so much difference. I have been making up excusses to drive the truck anywhere for anything ever since.. I am a happy camper:hyper:

Pyro Range?
I must be confused, or I am the wrong guy replying to this thread... I don't have a DPF, and I don't recall ever saying I did.... This is Utah Dully...

Lift pump choices with some questions
I run the Raptor 100 and here is why. No return to the tank, Just fine for a stock truck with injectors, didn't have to change stock draw straw since my stock pump was on the motor. I can't even hear the thing run. I only know it is working when the fuel gauge spikes quickly when I turn on the key. This perception that the Raptor pumps are falling like flies is not true in my opinion. I did a lot or research and talked to a lot of people before buying one and didn't find it to be a compelling argument. I would highly recommend putting a real filter in front (between your tank and pump) of whatever pump you put on. I got extra fittings from Eric (Great customer service by the way) at Vulcan to fit on my stock lift pump so I can use it as a spare. If the Raptor ever gives me issues on the road I can just duck tape the old stock pump up in place of the Raptor and get back to the barn. There are lots of ways to go and you can drive yourself crazy trying to make the perfect decision. I know I did. I think the main thing is to pick a good vendor and don't short cut the install. Do it right, all the way, the first time and you will be good to go for a long time.

Pyro Range?
Texas CTD - Thanks a bunch. I pull about the same weight as you, and our trucks are about the same. You must have a 4:10 gear, mine is a 3.54, so expect for and difference altitude might make I should be almost the same.

Pyro Range?
I installed it pre-turbo... Is 1250 normal, or is that cooking the engine hot?
