I'm sure most of us are experiencing cold weather one way or another, and so I'm curious if you have had any problems related to steering/ hydroboost issues. Whenever it gets to the low teens or single digit temps, I start the truck in the morning, and fires right up, and you can hear and feel loud humming vibrations in the cab. It gets loud if I touch the brakes or turn the steering wheel, and you can definitely feel it vibrating through both. I figure something maybe with the hydroboost. It had been doing this for years, and I thought maybe a new steering pump would fix it, but it didn't.(needed to be replaced anyway.) Anyone else experiencing this issue? Going to the steering issue: I replaced my steering pump last spring with the one from genos. From day one, it felt under powered....but I thought maybe it would get better with time, maybe a little air in the system, despite a thorough bleeding and following the steps to get the air out.(also new lines to and from the the hydroboost. Even disconnected the return line from the steering box to get ALL the old fluid out.) Sitting in my truck now, operating temp and all, I cannot physically turn the steering wheel while the truck is standing in place, the tires won't budge.(265 75r 16 Michelin Defenders) I have to be moving ever so slightly to get some assistance to turn the wheels (increasing rpms does nothing to help either.) Does this sound right? this issue isn't because of cold weather, but it probably makes it worse. The pump has Redline full synthetic powersteering fluid in it. Here's the pump. https://www.genosgarage.com/product/BORG-800328/power-steering-pump

I recently noticed that I had power steering fluid leaking from the weep hole on the bottom of the hydro booster of my 01 Dodge 2500. So I ordered the seal kit containing the inner seal and figure 8 seal. The install went as follows: Pumped the brake 3 times, unbolted the master cylinder from the hydro booster, unbolted the brake booster, removed the 3 power steering lines, and then removed the hydro booster and brake booster in one piece. I then separated them and replaced the seals while making certain that the inner seal actually went around the piston and didn't tear. I bolted the 2 housings back together then put the spring, rod, and washer back in before bolting the master cylinder adapter back on. After checking to ensure that the rods functioned and pushed back out properly I reinstalled it in the truck. I bolted the master cylinder back to it and reconnected the power steering lines. I filled the power steering reservoir, then cranked the truck, turned the wheels left to full lock, then full lock to the right, then back to center, killed it, and then pumped the brakes 5 times. This was repeated 3 times. After that I checked the reservoir and the fluid didn't even touch the stick so I filled it again and began the full lock, brake pumping procedure again and it was at this point my brake pedal went to floor as soon as I cranked the truck and it wouldn't return. I couldn't even pull the pedal up. It does release when the truck is off. I looked through a couple of forums and found that others had had similar problems and it was suggested to them to bleed the brakes. I half attempted to bleed the brake lines starting with the left rear working counter clockwise around to the left front. The left rear squirted fluid and ran down to a light stream, the right rear squirted a little and it too ran down to a light stream. Both front just dribbled. Could it be that when the reservoir went dry that the lines filled with air at the top going into the hydro booster? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I should also mention that I noticed that the power steering lines got pretty hot.

I had a leaky hydroboost. Bought a rebuild kit and changed 2 o-rings. It was very simple and straightforward. Reassembled everything pumped the breaks. A little spongy, no big deal as I was planning on bleading them. Start the truck to look for ps leaks. The break pettle was sucked to the floor and will not return. Turn the truck off and pump the breaks. After 15 pumps the breaks start to come back up. I'm stumped. Any ideas?

I ran into this last summer. The hydro boost on my 01 cab n chassis is different than like 80 percent of the rest of them most cost around 250 reman at the parts house, mine is only available thru Dodge and it's 800$ .mine took to leaking bad . I saw a kit from pirate 4x4 that advertised universal hydroboost rebuild. I tried it and be dam if 50 dollar kit didn't fix me right up. No more leaks lol thought I'd mention this one

Ok so about 2 months ago I resealed my hydroboost using the moparman recommended guide and solve a leak problem but before I could do that my wife drove the truck around 70 miles and 65mph or higher which lead to the death ofy original power steering pump. Having replaced the PS pump the HB unit makes lots of noise when turning the wheels and pulses the brake pedal fairly hard when the breaks are applied. I've flushed the old fluid out. Jacked the front wheels up and turned them lock to lock, and tried my best to avoid any foam. I thought the problem had been solved but a 5 minute drive proved otherwise. Any thoughts on this? Or tricks I haven't tried?

Ok I posted a while back about some issues I was having with the hydroboost system. The power steering pump went out and I replaced it. Then the hydroboost started making lots of noise, and shuddering when the brakes were applied. I would lose power steering altogether at an idle, but all this only happened after about 5 minutes of driving. Today I finally broke down and swapped the hydroboost I still have the same problems.... I'm at my wits end here wit this thing! I don't know what else to do. Btw it an 01 2wd.
