Sneezing truck?

Recommended Posts

I have only had my Dodge/Cummins for a few months. When I turn off the ignition switch and the engine comes to a halt ---- it has a sneezing sound. What on earth is that? Its sorta like a suppressed little sneeze sounding a lot like "chit"???? It seems to be more pronounced now that the weather has warmed up. Thanks in advance. mal

i'm not really sure what you refer to, but these trucks have high compression. what you might be hearing is just that, the engine stops suddenly and you hear the last compression cycle but it doesn't fire fore there is no more fuel.what i hear in mine is that plus a little belt squeel, ya know all the accessories are spinning and want to keep spinning even though engine stopped.

With a free flowing exhaust and the silencer ringMIA on my 2000, you can hear the turbo winding down real well, ive had a couple people ask me whats wrong with my truck!!

:lmao: i know what you mean. after i recently went to straight pipe. i actually put my silencer ring back in! but you still hear it spin down.
