ABS kicking in

Here is the one issue I have since doing my gear swap. I also replaced my WIF drain on the filter canister before this started. Intermittently but frequently upon braking the pedal will get hard and my brakes will do just what they do   When abs kicks in if you try to lock up your brakes on ice. What could have caused this?

Time to hit a dealer and have the ABS module flashed with the proper ratio of gears. ABS module isn't seeing speed properly causing this issue. There are two settings on the ABS module for the number of gear teeth and then tire rev per mile.

OK thanks Mike. I figured it was something with the speed sensor but i swapped the sensor from my parts truck and it just turned on the ABS and Brake lights with a 35 ABS Code. Is it something that can be done on a snap on scanner?

No. DRBIII tool only. You have to flash the values into the ABS module. @Chris O. tool would do it.

@Mopar1973Man How do I figure out the tone ring count without taking the diff cover off?

Give the dealer a call and ask them. Another would be ask Chris O about it he should know.

I'm hoping he gets the final product made. It actually reads all the data on the CCD network. I'm hoping he adds the high idle on and off switch too in the future.

I don’t want to have to remove the Diff cover to determine the tone ring tooth count and I called the dealer and no go any other suggestions?

As far as I know Dana80 Hybrid axle regardless of gear ratio has 120 tone ring tooth count. Sorry guys the tool is on hold until my job and health issues are solved.

Hmm so do you think this is the cause of the abs kicking in since I installed different gear ratio?

I am pretty sure your abs is acting up because of the tire revolutions per mile mile not set correctly.

So my tire size is what needs correcting?

@Chris O. what do you think is causing this, I now wish I did this on old front wheel bearings before I replace them as my abs  came on and off randomly before I changed wheel bearings. It doesn't happen near as much now but still happens once in awhile, this image is with new wheel bearings.

Either electrically the sensor or wiring causing or the tone wheel failed. Like mine had a cliff at about 30 MPH and the RF signal would drop to zero. ABS would go nuts back pumping preventing me from stopping. Install new SKF wheel bearing and problem is gone.
