47re valve body look see

Recommended Posts

Set your TV cable so the WOT 1-2 shift occurs at 2900 and leave it. Don't be messing with the lever stop adjustment. Set it to factory specs and leave it alone. It sounds like your TV cable is on the tight side if it has no slack in it at WOT, your upshifts are coming in late, and your downshift are early. Did you use the TV pressure regulator spring for the Transgo kit? Was there wear on the end of your TV plunger? Wear in the TV regulator valve bore?

So your 2-3 shift orifice is at .106"? That's pretty small at that pressure. Enlarging it will firm up that shift. Where do you have your front band set? That will affect the feel of the 2-3 shift also. The orifice sizing I use for the 2-3 is much smaller because I have the boost valve on once the 1-2 shift is completed, so it wouldn't be much help to you.

Line pressure will not affect your shift points. That is determined by TV pressure and governor pressure, not line pressure.

To be honest I wasnt aware the 47re could downshift like this

Even before rebuilding it rarely down shifted.

Then after rebuilding I had to drop it into second at slow speeds.

Also to be honest I dont know TV lever specs.

I took the stop turned it until lever contacted the plunger then gave it another half turn or so.

Now it downshifts with engine braking. I like it alot actually now tune si it doesnt down shift as much and early.

I think a zip tie to hold lever and adjust and test drive instead of dropping pan a million times. Learn what does what before turning the screw.

All springs that came in the kit are installed.  I dont believe theres any abnormal wear.

Yes its .106.

I'll readjust TV start with a bit of slack and report. Though I know that makes slack at zero throttle

And keep looking for tvleverspecs

Thank you so much

Ok. I gave TV a fish of slack at wot. This got rid the early down shifting and also smoothed up all shifts. 1-2 s is still quick 2-3 still not as good but seems better than it was.

I like how it's down shift to second. Coast from 30 or so and itl drop to 2nd on it's own. Get on brakes and it drops sooner. Rounding slow corners it drops to second. I used to manually drop it. Now I can just drive.

I've had this truck for 12 or so years maybe 14 and it's never down shifted this well and consistent.

Front band is backed off 2 turns after 72inch lbs. Rear I set by fill and backed off. I cant remember how much. Specs say 3 turns for some reason I dont think I did that much.

It has a harsh 2-3 shift under very light throttle nit nit alo the time. Cruising through town 25mph it now stays in second it's more it harsh shifts when speed is border line. If you know whay I mean.

What do you recomend for both bands, 2-3 orfice size for 150+ pressure?

I'll get the gauge on it and see what pressure is during 2-3 and wot

I'm feeling very good about how its driving. I may order a pan so Ive got a good reason to drop fluid adjust bands and then just drive it.

Also curious. Do your tranny prices include a core.  I kicked around your website. Really like what I saw. Specially the tripe that can get away with stock shafts.

Got my bargain ppe pan on.

Bumped pressure a turn bumped TV stop in a half.

Just for you guys I even filled with atf+4

Dynamics TV cable recommendation helped alot. I still never found a spec on TV stop. It's down shifting perfect and feels very good off idle so I must be close.

Almost grabbed the floor jack. Ppe pan is heavy. I feel good about it and especially since I got it half price.

I'll edit a few pics in

Well funny story so last week did the pan grabbed my inch lb. Wrench to set rear band and front and finally quit messing with my tranny.

Come to find out every tooth is stripped in the tourge wrench. How in the hell did that happen.

Set band by feel fuming. Dont touch front band.

Come to find out Crystal my better half decided to tourge her lug nuts with it. I asked here what she set the wrench to response I dunno. 2 adapters to go from 1/4 to half..

So I walk here to bench, use this big long wrench set it here to about 85-100 I dont really care what. Please reset it to zero when done.

Yesterday dropped the ppe pan used my new wrench, looked at TV stop for alittle bit,  have it set right pushing g on the valve at idle eas curious because cable goes half passed ball at idle. Guess I dont k oi whay the right setting is. I wanna push the valve. If the TV cable had it's way it wouldnt ve pushing the valve at idle or even very low throttle.

I ran the seat back and forth pushing the throttle watching it.  At wot it doesnt quite push the valve all the way in. Maybe 1/16-1/8

I dunno I'm done messing with it.
