Help me build the new static pages for the site!

Ok Gang... I'm trying to lighten my load a bit here. When I first started the site it was fun exciting to build HTML pages and keep theing up to date. Well now its becoming a pain in the rear. Trying to keep up with all the new xHTML code or the HTML5 code is hard for me. So what I'm doing is converting the static HTML pages over to CMS (Content Management System) software. So at this point you guys/gals that I give access to can update your articles at will you own way. You'll be able to add links to suppiers or parts and much more. So it no longer solely up to me to do the write up articles but everyone can do it. So this allows you to put your own personal appeal to your write ups. I'm currently in the process of getting the software setup and configured. I've been doing a bit of test driving myself but I might have to have a few of you help out really soon. But I'm willing to let you guys/gals take a sneal peek at what I'm building and working on. So here you go... http://articles.mopar1973man.com/ Feedback, idea, and thoughts wanted... Please let me know what you think and we'll build a better site! :hyper:

Looks great! The members rides section could very easily turn into a facebook for trucks! Can we use our forum login id/pw yet in the articles section? How are we going to review the articles to keep them up to standard? A peer review vote system, or mabe an approval system by you mabe? Part of what brought me to this site was that I have read your articles for years, and always found them to be high quality.

Yes... You'll just re-register on the CMS side just like the Forum side. You'll have your own account. The two software are NOT bridged together... There is software to do this but I'm sitting on the fence yet about a few of them...

How are we going to review the articles to keep them up to standard?

That will be up to the staff. Typically right now I'm taking the document converting to HTML and posting up. So this just removes me from the conversion process but now I still have the final say if it stays or gets pulled. Of course the Moderators will be able to come in and edit, remove, etc for articles too...

A peer review vote system, or mabe an approval system by you mabe?

Way it worked in the past is that you would post up a awesome write up on the forum and people comment on it... If it popular enough or if the staff sees its worth something then its converted to HTML and posted to the web site. Now it will be you given access to post your article and maintain it on the CMS. So if you happen to learn of a new way, short cut, etc. you can add it to your article.

Part of what brought me to this site was that I have read your articles for years, and always found them to be high quality

Don't worry I'm going to keep them high quality yet... Just trying to spread the work load out so others can aid me in keep the beast alive. You might not know it but to download a copy of the site as it stands right now is roughly 4.5 GB worth of information here. :stuned: But right now it solely up to me alone to edit, post, review, etc of all the article on the site. So the more and more I looked at a problem I'm getting stuck with I figured I better gain some control. With the Joomla CMS software I still have the control over the site but the authors of the articles have the ability to edit and update there articles. So right now I'm in a major learning curve and playing with the software figuring out how to set up everything but trying to resolve other issues that are occuring with static pages and forum... Nothing is set in gold as of yet and everything is in a fluid state and will be for some time till well get things ironed out a bit... _________________________ More... Now there is something else I got to be careful of is the fact the current static pages will be left up for quite a long time even after the now CMS software is kicked into use. Why you might ask? Well I've work very long and hard to get the site to compete with the other big boyz out there like CumminsForum and Diesel Bombers etc. So what I got to do is build the article base up on the CMS software and get it noticed by Google, Bing, Ask, etc before I even consider shutting down the old one. Give you a few link to check out... https://encrypted.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&site=&source=hp&q=replace+vp44&aq=f&aqi=g1g-v2g-j1&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=d159f891fa5f2787&biw=1680&bih=890 https://encrypted.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&source=hp&q=Timbos+apps&aq=f&aqi=g1g-j1&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=d159f891fa5f2787&biw=1680&bih=890 https://encrypted.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&source=hp&q=vp44+fuel+pressure&aq=f&aqi=p-p1g2g-v1&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=d159f891fa5f2787&biw=1680&bih=890 https://encrypted.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&source=hp&q=apps+sensor&aq=f&aqi=g2g-v3&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=d159f891fa5f2787&biw=1680&bih=890 https://encrypted.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&source=hp&q=p7100+pump+mods&aq=0p&aqi=p-p1g4&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=d159f891fa5f2787&biw=1680&bih=890 Now take notice these searches all have the M73M site on the front page somewhere... Which once again I must turn around and say "Thank you!" to all the members and staff that made it happen. I might be in the driver seat but all you are co-pilots that have built M73M to what it is today...

Ok... A update...

I'm back on track for this winter. I'm going to get the article side security setup in the next day or so... I need a few people with articles to get with me and help me test out the software. Please send me a PM or email and we'll get you set up...

Milestone members... Hey guys I need you to contact me so I can setup you up with your vehicle and articles...

--- Update to the previous post...

Ok... AH64ID has been working with the site and helping me learn more about the software. I'm getting it tuned and tweaked into place. Just taking time to debug the system and get things set right. Come on guys take some time and take a peak at the article part of the site now. :hyper:

--- Update to the previous post...

Ok Gang...

All the 1st Gen, 2nd Gen 12V and 3rd Gen articles are moved over to the new article system. I just got to finish off the 2nd Gen 24V and General Cummins areas and then the old mopar.mopar1973man.com will be moved over. Once its moved the pages will be left behind but all the menus on the old pages will be disabled.

Then eventually the mopar.mopar1973man.com will be deleted from the server...:stuned: Yeap I said it right... I will deleted it...

They all want you to sign up for other stuff to get it for free otherwise one has to pay for it. Now I got my puter screwed up and tried to open it with another program and it always goes to that program as the default and it screws up everything. aaaarrrggghhh:banghead:

Uninstall them and start over with RarLabs...

I didn't install anything and rarlabs is what wants me to sign up for other stuff in order to get a "free trial" of the program. When I first tried to download the file I didn't know what to open it with so I picked acrobat or adobe not sure from the list that was already on my computer as the program to open this type of file now it automatically tries to open with the wrong program from my computer and thats what I can't figure out how to undo.

Go to your control panel and look for "Default programs" then look for the extension that is screwed up and change it to point to a new program, or set it to return to the factory program or clear it.
