Oil Leak from vent tube connection

Recommended Posts

I have noticed this build up of oil that must be slow seeping out of the connection. Is this normal wear or is it a sign of problems internally? Can I tighten it or do I need to solve another problem first? I dont get blowby from oil cap when removed but it vibrates off slowly. Also do these 5.9's have a filter in here or anything that needs cleaned or maintenance? Any help with allow me to sleep easier . First pic is upside down.Thanks!2007 5.9 92,000 miles auto stockpost-11590-138698185492_thumb.png

Thanks for the replies guys. I've seen those but if you look at the description they say for 03-05. There is a small note on the bottom of that Geno's ad that states "NOTE: Will not work on '06-'07 trucks. Cummins says you have to buy a new complete valve cover to replace the CCV filter on these trucks. ". I guess that answers one part of the question but is that the reason that mine is leaking? Of course this was overlooked by the wizard diesel tech at the dodge dealership.

I told the dealer what is was before I showed up. They did there own eyeball test and said "yep its your cc oil filter, we'll order one and make another appointment". So I never got a call and ended up calling and...."oh yeah the parts here when do you want to come in". Well I made an appointment and when I get there they let the truck cool down then call me 20 minutes later to say that it was the wrong part come back again. No suprise there right? So finally this monday I get there and 20 minutes later I leave with new cover and no problems except the three 45 minute drives and back. I dont know if other ones can be modified but I think before 06-07 you can just replace filter. Just curious if this caused pressure in other places and what should I look for.
