OEM Air Filter Box

I re-installed mine today. The rubber on my "washable" AEM filter on my Fram Boost 2 intake system was cracking/dry-rotting pretty good. Didn't feel like spending the coin for a new filter, so I re-installed the OEM filter box and filter. The OEM filter only had just over 12k mile on it when I tore it out originally. You know guys.............I kinda like the quiet.............no turbo whistle I mean. I forgot what it was like!!! When I have time, I'll "swiss-cheese" the airbox................not that it needs it, the OEM system flows enough air for about 500hp!!!

About 2 years ago I actually reinstalled my silencer ring for that reason. As for the box I would watch the box and check for dust leaks now and then. If it does leak put a thin coat of grease on the sealing lip of the filter to stop it.

10-4.........thanks!!!:thumbup2:

Are you running the 2" or 4" filter? The OEM box can support about 450-500 rwhp, but does need some help to do so. Instead of swiss-cheeseing the box (increase IAT's and EGT's) I would do a home depot CAI (decrease IAT's and EGT's). It only runs about $15. The baffled section in the middle is also a big hindrance to airflow above stock. The airaid MIT is the best replacement I have found.

I haven't put my winter front pieces in yet. I put my stock air box back for the winter... but I'm not connecting the snorkle thingy. I'm going to tape over the dumb fender hole so the air box will pull warm underhood air all winter. I have not yet but will mouse screen the airbox which will be doable without the snorkle. I like the expander metal aluminum gutter guard (maleable) and just a few SS self tapping screws.
