Dealer says high idle won't work because of remote starter/alarm

Recommended Posts

The wifes ford is acting up so she has been "borrowing" my truck even though she hates Dodges.

She started it this morning, was about 20 degrees and it went to high idle on its own.

She remarked that it was cold for it to do that. I said no we don't have any idea about cold.

Folks here know all about 30 and 40 below...brrrrrrr.

Regards Chris

With my DRB 3 scan tool you just go in to owner preferences ( I think thats what it says) and there is a heading to enable high idle.

You just click the yes arrow and its done.

I should be doing this for people ...bring me a coffee.

Only takes about 2 minutes and I am not "good" at it yet.

Regards Chris

I'll bring donuts as well if you want to do mine. I'm in Ohio.

Well....

I am in Nova Scotia.

I think your truck will be warm by the time you get here and the coffee will be cold...the donuts , I have no idea how they will do.

I should have just sent the DRB tool to Mike or Ed and let them help folks as they could do this easier than me.

I don't think there are many members here in my area.

Regards Chris

Ya the stealership flat told me it wont work on the manuals too. I even printed out and brought in the TSB paperwork and he laughed at me and said he doesn't know what moron wrote that up. Same guy tried telling me that the PCM and ECM on these trucks is the same unit!!!

Doesn't that just makes you want turn his light off, I get pist when have to deal with retards that think they know everything.

  • 3 weeks later...

I noticed now whenever I don't plug the truck in when it's at 0*C or just below it will barely start . And when it did go once it sounded like it was in 3 cylinder while running for the first 10-15 seconds. Anyone else notice this after having the high idle cold start enabled?
