I got a small refund from Uncle Sam this week and I am planning on installing a mechanical fuel pump. My question is whether I should go with the Assassin or Fuel Boss--what is the good, the bad, and the ugly of each. I know these topics have been beat almost to death but if you can point me in a direction of an article that has already compared the two that would more than suffice. I have searched through the different forums but I was hoping for a little bit more. Thanks,

I have a 1998.5 24 valve and I leak engine oil from above the starter. I leak about the size of a couple of quarters every night. Appears I have an early engine as I have a cap on the front cover. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks, Philo

Ok, I my original transmission finally went out. So I replaced it with a Certified Transmission, the Road Ripper 2000. The uninstall and install of the new transmission went great. It shifts great and everything. The problem I am having is, I believe it is going into lock up too soon. When I am empty, and take off from a stop gentle, and gradually ease up to speed, sometimes it will lock up at 40 mph, which is no problem, but it dosent act like it wants to unlock when I give it a lot of gas. I have to put the pedal all the way to the floor and hold it there for about two seconds before it will finally unlock and I will have power. It unlocks fine when coming to a stop…

i apologize for starting a new thread on this beaten to death topic especially since i know the info i'm looking for is out there, ive read a few threads where moparman goes over a more foolproof diagnosis strategy for discerning between a dead pedal apps failure vs vp44 failure. after searching for the last hour and a half i can't find the threads or info i'm looking for. anyway my truck is 2002 ho 6 spd. 130k nv5600. edge jwa, with pressure gauge and egt installed and an analog fuel pressure gauge. ddrp mounted on frame producing 17psi at idle and no lower than 9-10psi at wide open towing heavy. ABOUT A YEAR AGO: so i'm going to paste some stu…

Hello All. I am relatively new to Cummins but have owned my 99 Dodge for a couple years. It has 265,000 miles on him. Everything is stock except the previous owner installed an edge EZ and I installed boost and an electronic fuel pressure gauges. When I installed the gauge last year I installed the t-fitting to avoid the hammer effect. I have a question. Here over the past couple weeks (it has been 0-20 F here) when I start up the truck in the AM the pressure will be in the single digits for about 5 seconds and then jump up to 13 or 14 psi. Do you think this is just because the diesel is cold, or is my lift pump about to quit? It is a stock LP and I plan on changi…

I am installing a new Edge Juice with Attitude in my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. The kit comes with a new Boost Elbow, but my turbo has the hard line between the tubo and the waste gate actuator. All it said in the manual is that on some trucks you can't install the elbow. What affect will this have? I read something in a thread about installing a turnbuckle on the WGA, but when I searched for more information, noting came up. I am assuming that you are installing it on the rod from the WGA to the WG and using the turnbuckle to adjust the psi the WG opens at. Is this worth doing? The truck is basically stock, BHAF and 4" exh but no other HP mods. Thanks for any help …

I have 196000 miles on my truck now and was thinking of taking it in to a mechanic to do a tune up on the valves and get the turbo cleaned. I am also going to have them do the thermostat to a 190 and have them go through my wiring on my column gauges and redo them because who ever put them in before I bought must not have done it the best way and took corners and might have them look at the a/c... just wondering if any other things I should just have them check on while its in the shop? I only want it down for like 3 weeks because I live in Bismarck and im taking it over to Jamestown because they have good rates and I know the people working on it has done good work o…

I've been looking for the MG oil and all I can find is the LE. Does it exist, does it make a difference? It's what's recommend for 24 valve cummins.

Hello all, I just installed a new Gearotor/Motor tower assembly on my Air Dog FP-100. While it was out on the bench, I noticed there was some debris in the pre-filter screen at the inlet to the water separator. It looks like disintegrated paper, I think my wife had the small cardboard seal in the cap of a bottle of fuel treatment fall into the tank months back. Now it has broken down and the fibers are clogging the screen. I have 1/2" fuel lines for the whole system, can anyone recommend a good in-line filter to cut into the pump supply line? I would like one that I can disassemble to replace the element and clean. Most of the in-line filters I have seen are for 1…

I was wanting a set of batteries for my farm tractor ...and. I thought it would be a good idea to buy a new set for my truck and use the good ones already in it to put in the tractor. I told the Interstate guy that I wanted group 31...he said no way will they fit. Sold me group 27s. Same rating as the ones in the truck although a bit smaller. WOW...I thought the ones that I took out of the truck were good, not so much compared to the new ones. It sounds like that air starter in the other thread. The tractor will start with the ones from the truck but not as good as it should. Warm weather is coming and things will be better for the tractor then. Regards Chris

Ok guys, I posted over in the CR forum about my brother putting a new turbo on his 05. So I am thinking about buying his he351cw from him, but I have a few questions. First off what is a fair price? 130xxx miles on it no shaft play. Second is it worth it for my second gen? My egts get out of hand quickly with the comp and smarty stacked. Will this cool them down very well? I can use his old down pipe if it will work. What adapters will I need for the oil input, oil return, exhaust manifold ect. When I tow heavy I turn the comp off and run the smarty on 9. Will this be enough fuel to spool the turbo? Any input is appreciated. Remember I'm in college and I'm on a budget!

Wanting to get a bit better mileage and maybe just a little more get up and go when I feel like it. I am a mellow driver but once in a while I like to step on it a bit. Nothin major. I have read about what some of you have done and here is what I am thinking now the truck is paid off. Assassin mech fuel pump, sounds like the electrical ones have issues here and there Big line kit Edge comp box Edge Insight CS Slight injector upgrade Now what I don't understand is what difference is there in changing the nozzles if you can just get whole injectors? Other than some extra coin savings. Plus any other input on what I have planned would be helpful. Steve

Hello all, I'm new to this forum and have already found a wealth of information. I have an Air Dog FP-100 on my '01 Dodge Ram 2500 QC with the standard power Cummins. It has just failed the Air Dog pump for the 3rd time, this time costing me a new fuel injection pump. The gearotor/motor assembly was just installed in Sept. I put in the new fuel injection pump and everything tested fine. I knew the Air Dog was not putting out as much pressure as I would like, so before I ran the truck further than a couple miles, I installed a 1/4" washer that I drilled out to 3/8" ID and then shaved the OD to fit under the return to tank fitting in the Air Dog base. I drove the tru…

All right men, I need some help here. I posted a while back about my clutch slipping and now I finally have a little money to replace it. That being said, I still don't have a huge budget to do this with. I'm trying to find a good reliable clutch that won't break the bank. I'm familiar with south bend and Valair but those are out of my league as far as affordability. If anyone can give me any info on Luk, AMS performance, Exedy, etc. that would be great. I have tried to research these brands but can't really find many reviews on any of them. Also, I don't do any really heavy towing (probably 6 or 7k occasionally). Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey guys, I am just curious what's a safe RPM rage to drive these trucks on the freeway? I have a 4:10 ratio which I really want to change to 3:55 which brings me to another question anybody know where to get a good set of 3:55 gears? Regarding the RPM's I don't let it get passed 2 RPM's which with my ratio is 60 to 65 mph. So since I 'm new to the Diesel world what would be a safe operating RPM rage for these trucks? Just want to know what everyone thinks.

SO the other day I was going home from work, it was snowing pretty bad and the roads were really slick and crappy so I popped the ole girl in 4x4 just for added reassurance. On my commute I have a nice 90* turn that is completely blind till about half way through the turn. Well I get to that half way part, and this grey toyota carolla was spinning and fishtailing all over the place out of control, SO I did what any reasonable 23 year old in a big 4x4 cummins would do and drove right into the front yard of some guy who lives on that corner, I drove in, drove out and kept on my way. Ran over a few rocks and such but all was good, So I thoight. I got about another 1/2 mi…
