My first post here, hello! I am having a dead pedal issue with my 98.5 24V 4x4 2500 5spd, which I bought new, has 183K miles now.Earlier in the year, the dead pedal was accompanied by the check engine light and codes, and I replaced the MAP sensor to fix the issue. I believe the cause may have been related to a fuel leak from the fuel heater grommet, and saturated the MAP sensor plug after a hauling trip to NM when I was pushing more fuel out. I removed the fuel heater and plugged the grommet hole.About mid year, I "fixed" the 5th gear nut issue, I disconnected my batteries before wire welding the nut to the shaft (laughs or applauses insert here). I have never had to res…

01 dodge 2500 Cummins diesel. Started off it turned over fast but wouldn't start. I changed a VERY CORRODED terminal end and it started. I drove it across town and shut it off then it went back to the same thing, turned over but wouldn't start again. Visually inspected cables and changed all the terminal ends but it didn't help. Now it won't even turn over. No click or anything when I turn the key. Hooked a wire to both posts of the starter it only sparked a little no click or spin. Took both batteries and the starter in for testing but they all tested good. When I put the starter back in it did turn over once slow then nothing.

So I have been trying to figure out what is really going on. I have been getting engine codes at random. the truck will be running just fine for a few days, then the check engine light will come on. it will throw a P0341, then a P1690, and sometimes a P500 I know the definition of them but I cant seem to fix the problem, I started with the Cam position sensor, replaced it, problem still occurring, but then I go back and think how it will go for a day or two without having any issues. I took my programmer out. unplugged the batteries and let them sit, hooked them back up, calibrated the APPS. but that didn't help. then I read that bad battery cables / weak batteries, and b…

I have seen on this site a couple of times where 17# is the ideal fuel pressure. My pump provides 12-13#. Why is 17# better?

I got my shot to install another Raptor pump. They seem to getting worse all the time now. The base frame bracket is now a composite plastic of some sort. Can't even tight up the bolt enough to set the lock washers. It seem to start bowing really faster and looking like you could break the corners off. The since its plastic they had to make it thicker now. So now the plates don't fit behind the existing fuel line line with old school steel plates. You've got to lever the steel lines up to get the plastic plate behind it. Oh make sure to pull one holder bolt so you can. Then with all the quick connect fittings. The 2 fittings right at the pump are wiggle loose right out of…

Hello, I am getting ready to install Fuel Pressure, EGT, and a Boost Gauges in my truck. My question is about thread sealant on the treads of fittings and senders. I am going to install a tapped banjo bolt on top of my filter housing and a needle valve will be installed in that. I don't see a lot of recommendations for Teflon tape and I am not sure if I can get a good seal without adding something to prevent leaking. Does anyone have any suggestions? For the EGT gauge I was planning on using an anti-seize on the treads of the sensor. How about for the boost sensor? Is anything recommended for that connection? Thanks for your help.

hi everyone my name is Jason barrett, I live in Lincoln Ca, I have an 02 2500 with a few simple things done, 4inch mbrp turbo back exhaust, BHAF, 2.5 inch leveling kit, quadzilla dxzt-02 programmer, an expensive transmission, with a d&p triple disc billet converter, billet servos, billet valve body, Kevlar bands, and that is about it for now. My ECM question is in my opinion a dumb one, I think I might know the answer to. so here we go, what exactly is the difference between a 2002 6speed ecm and a…

Newby here, I just bought a 99 dually with an apparent wiring issue! I replaced the entire fuse box and harness this weekend only to barely touch the positive and have smoke start rolling out the fuse box!:banghead: I opened up the fuse box to peek under it and found the burnt wire is from the J/C 1 port. What is it,and how do I fix it? The truck was running before this but had the parking lamp on engine shut off problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I want to start mods with a lift pump. One thing that I am concerned about is loosing the fuel heater. I often work in Eastern Montana and the Dakotas. Do I need to retain the fuel heater? Can I use something like a Fass 150 and retain the fuel heater?ThanksDave

Okay local guy just did Ppump conversion and is selling edge juice W/ attitude(has original box all instructions everything is there supposedly) and airdog 150. I can for sure get both for 800, maybe 750. should i?I just got my 02 3500 6spd HO with jacobs exhaust brake. i've added BHAF and will be installing iispro ev guages(FP, pyro, Boost) tomorrow. this is my first diesel. I'm not completely new to them(was hay farm mechanic and now union equipment operator) but am completely new to modding them. From my research over the last month and a half of having the truck an airdog/raptor/fass lift pump was going to be a definate mod along with chip was aiming towards edge, so …

Ok, So I bought this 02 6 speed quad cab dually back in april. No body on the back, getting ready to put on a nice utility body. Been doing lots of fix-up, new brakes/calipers/rotors/wheel bearings/dana 80 clutch re-stack/u joints/air bags/ etc etcSo, soon will be ready to put the body on but first want to do the lift pump since right now my tank is easily accessible.I've researched and asked this question over at the cumminsforum.com But there are sooooo many different reccomendations/types/styles/price ranges of lift pumps. It's confusing man! :think:I just want the simplest & most reliable. For now I'm happy with the factory power, maybe more power upgrades in t…

I recently had installed a South Bend DD clutch (sdd3250) and replaced the hydraulics with south bend as well. My question is what is the correct "Clutch Pedal adjustment", should this be set such that the clutch behaves a certain way (aside from engage/disengage ok). or just set pedal height to one's desired comfort level or maybe it's none of the above and I missed something lol. Right now the clutch pedal is about 1" above brake pedal. If you have a double disk clutch, would you mind sharing with me how different the truck drove after the install. I went from a stock clutch with worn out south bend hydraulics to double disk. Thanks in advance,Tony

Alright, so ran up into the forest yesterday for an evening trip. Out and about traversing the mountain roads, no problem. Got dark so headed down. Got to the highway and the truck did something funny..I got to about 45-50 and it sounded like it was making a quick and short rev. As if I was the one doing it with the pedal. I slowed down, turned the comp off, checked the trans. temp gauge. All was well. Sped back up, got to the speed again and did it again. This time I fueled it more and it went faster and shifted after that.Stopped by the sister in laws, which was about 10 min. away. Visited for about an hour or so and then headed home. Shifted fine and turned the comp ba…

The local ARCO near my work has just in the last month or so, put in a couple new pumps, one of them being a bio-diesel pump (the other is the ethanol blend). I haven't stopped for a fill up there yet, as it's about 10 cents higher than other diesel prices. I currently add in the 2 stroke oil for the extra lube, which of course increases the pump cost, probably by about nine or ten cents. Being relatively new to the diesel world, I'm unsure about whether or not to use it. I believe it's a 10% blend. Can anyone share pros and cons of using bio-diesel instead of regular diesel?

"shiver" Well It's a 1998 24 valve did the same routine as i have for year's 1. lossend the nut on the filter housing2. drained the old fluid from the housing3. replaced all the gasket's (3) and replaced new filter4. Filled up canister with fresh fuel5. turned key on 3 time's to then bumped key twice to ensure complete primie 6. turned the motor over fired right up for about 5 sec's then stalled and died..So after trying to bleed the line's at the valve cover for 2 hour's started at #1, then 3, 5, 2, 4 only # 4 bubbled a little after the …

i drove my truck for about a half an hour the other day and noticed a good amount of smoke coming from the breather, it hadnt done it this bad all summer. usually a little haze, but it has also droped down from 70 degrees in the morning to around 50. it also doesnt do it until i drive for about 30 minutes, and havent lost any oil in the last 1000 miles (last oil change). truck has 245,xxx on it so they probably need adjusted anyway. any answers would be greatly apreciated.
