He seems to not been able to shift gears ,he said that the only way the truck can move is if the truck is turned off and he puts it on second gear ,but then the truck will not shift to any other gear . I cant test drive it my self cuase I am still out of town, so wanted to ask if you have any idea of what could it be ? He took it to a shop and was told it …

Well I have done everything I think possiable, it has come down to bitting the bullet and buy a vp from Blue Chip Diesel. The people I have been dealing with rebuild junk. I have learned a lot about the famous vp junk in a bucket. More is being revealed day by day as our trucks get age on them. He is going to give me a fair deal I think, he says if the pump does not fix my problem just box it back up and send it back for full refund. Here is some hind site for ya, if you lose two pumps and they are not in warranty your expense just cost you what it would if you had ppumped it to start with. The chance of you going thru two pumps is highly likely. I know somebody is going…

This is guesswho's wife... guesswhoswifey Guesswho is at work at Code Red and has asked me to make a post for him. This morning as he went to leave for work, all of the sudden the truck would not start. :banghead: His Air Dog fuel pump was not kicking on either. After 10 minutes of messing with different things, he finally got it to start and the pump had finally kicked on. He continues on to work and realizes know that now the check engine light is on and deceides to go to Autozone to have the code read. At the store they get code P1689, autozone says failed injection pump. Guesswhos question is, does this code automatically condemn the injec…

Ok - so had tranny TC + VB replaced.Just had the evap/heater core replaced.Picked up the truck and I hear a funny sound - hard to describe - like a very low/dull whir/thud that "appears" to match engine rpm - making me think drivelineInitial thought was TC bolts - so I looked at them and they seemed tight with no play.If I had to say as a "guess" it sounds more like its coming from the block itself. Hard to say. Its very low compared to fan/engine and like a low whirring/thud sound as engine shaft spins.Could it be valves or something - I know we tightened my valves a few months back and no issues and not much play to begin with ?? Any other thoughts ??No codes ........ I…

I am considering buying a complete 1998 12v drivetrain consisting of: [*]Engine w 100k [*] Auto trans w 12k on Jasper rebuild (w/ upgrades, but not sure what they are) [*] X-fer case w/ 100k [*] 3:55 axles with 100k [*] Front drive shaft Been sitting indoors since 2003. However, I can buy the whole deal for $2500...maybe less. I would then swap the 12v and Jasper trans into my '98 QCSB and sell my 24v (w/ 177k), good auto trans and 100k axles after the swap. I could give people good deals on everything, I think, and still get an engine/trans with low miles in my truck in for just a few dollars. I could not do the swap myself. Just don't ha…

See attached file. I'm trying to figure out the path of the fuel flow within the VP44 injection pump (IP). I'm interested in the slight possibility of additional cooling for the IP. Does anyone have any other pics or drawings or diagrams they can upload? I've done a bit of research on forums and I've talked to BlueChip at lengths. The VP44's computer sits on top of a heatsink or is integral to it, this is bolted to the IP housing, and the diesel fuel passing under the heatsink cools the computer. There is a vane pump at the inlet of the VP44. The "ww.chinahanji.com" drawing is helpful. I'm thinking the area directly beneath the computer, adjacent to th…

I have been looking at my boost gauge (adrenaline pulse monitor) and I haven't seen go pass 15 to 16 psi and thats steping on it on the hwy , its usually always around 5 to 8 . Sorry for asking this dumb questions but just trying to understand boost better Is this normal boost what I have? I am also asking this because on most of the tread I read that have to do with boost every body talks about getting 25 psi or 30ish psi reading , Is there some thing I need to check ? what is a boost elbow do I need one? Thanks for your comments.

I finally am going to do the ball joints on my 2000. I have found a couple of write ups on later model trucks on CF and the like. Does anyone know any tricks or tips for my model year. I talked to a friend who did them on a 94 CTD 2500 4x4 and he said he had to engage the 4x4 before pulling the passenger side axle to prevent the linkage from falling apart???? Any way I am going to start with it tomorrow morning. ThanksChris

Was hoping to get some insite here. My truck wanders all over as If I was truck. It is amazing I havent been pulled over yet. It makes you tired driving on a trip as you are constantly trying to compensate to keep the truck going straight. Its not like a steering wheel play problem but it acts in a similar way. Today I put the new Borgeson steering box on, no help. I have run the tires at 35, 50 and 60, no better.I have new moog ball joints, and track bar, new tires, alignment. My truck has 60,000 miles. It is a 2001 2500 SLT 4 x 4. It does have the big ARB bumper and large winch. Also, it has new front shocks. Any ideas? Mark

So 2 days after a long road trip I noticed a new noise that sounds like its coming out of the exhaust. Between about 1100-1200rpm I get a loud tick/tat that I can clearly hear over my exhaust. It happens in all gears and only really makes the noise when I'm on the throttle, can't hear anything at idle. My only thought is my exhaust valves are out of adjustment going to adjust then tomorrow to see if it fixes it, but not sure:shrug: Any thoughts please let me know.

Ok as usual Michael hit it on the money again, don't get your hopes up just yet, it didn't fix the real problem (surge). But we now have 17 psi on fuel gauge. Went from 12.75 to 17 at idle, wot 15.25 on a airdog 100 with a 150 draw straw. Speaking of surge would injectors cause that or not?The .740 had to be brought down to .690. I could feel the washer line up as I screwed fitting in with fingers. It then went smooth all the way till tight.

Finally took my truck into the shop to get them to yank the entire dash out and fix the damm diverter door. If I ever find the person who invented this method of heading/A/C, will tie them next to a fire ant mound and slather them with food. Not kidding... Anyways they got everything working fine, it was evidently only one door out of the three that was not working right but now they call and say that my fan clutch (which was working fine yesterday) is now not good and causing the A/C pressures to go too high when the truck is not driving. Interesting... it worked fine yesterday when they started working on it... Fan clutches are easy to change so am going to do that mys…

was getting ready to change my 99's front pads. i have noticed the inside pad(the one with the piston on it) wears significantly faster than the outer. went to the part house and notice his screen said the pads he was selling me are 7500gvw and my truck is 8800gvw. he did not have ones listed for 8800 and when he check 1ton he also got 7500 and 10500. are the 7500 ok? i mean they fit(as its most likely what i've put in the last 2 times). rockauto.com lists a 8800 and even 8500...guess that kinda answers that question. ---------- Post added at 03:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:10 PM ---------- it seems some places have 8800gvw as only 4X4. they look s…

Ok so today I went out to the lake and we took my uncles boat ,I don't know how much it weight but this mourning when we were on our way over there my egt's were pretty low well at least thats what I think I do really have an idea of whats normal but they were running around the 700's and had my adrenaline on level 3 and on 5th gear. But on the way back I started to notice alot of difference the truck felt heavier and had it on the same level and also on 5th gear and egt's were higher 950's so I slowed down a little and drop it to 4th gear and the egt's went down again to 750's . So my question is was this boat pretty heavy or am I missing something maybe a bigger turbo o…
