Newby HELP! Power down @ 1900 RPM Here's my story bought my 1st Diesel, unknown to me it had a cracked 53 block. Ran good but high idle (about 850 rpm). Bought a used 2000 24valve with 50 k miles on it. Did the re n re myself all went good runs good but @ 1900 RPM powers down, no throttle resonse until the RPM drop below 1900. Replaced fuel pump as it was producing 6-7 PSI. Traded the new engine ecm for the old ecm, starts, runs high idle like old engine for a few seconds then tach stops working, idle drops to a lower RPM and check engine light comes on ....but when test drove didn't power out at 1900 RPM....switched back to newer ECM and runs as normal except still po…

Ok Gang... I got a phone call from Cajflynn tonight and he's got a shuttering problem with his truck. I'm going to relay this phone call the best I can. So let put our heads together and help him out. He got some internet access on his phone... Conditions... Mild hill climbs at about 63 MPH steady or acceleration the problem (shutter) occurs right at the crest of a hill. Auto Trans temp is <100*F and the rear end about 125*F. Pulling about 800-900*F worth of EGT at 18 PSI of boost. Currently towing about 5K pound trailer. Now The power puck is traded out with the Quadzilla XPT currently but is shutters the worse with this combo at about 63 MP…

  4. Hello, just joined the other day but member of CF also; my first post here.A buddy of mine at work is offering to sell me his SGII for $100. So far most of the functions seem to work. I have all the correct engine and fuel data, etc. set up. Completed 2 fillups. The SGII website recommends to set up the gauges to read the following for monitoring fuel economy: XX.XAVG X.X GPHXX.XMPG X.XX TFCI cannot seem to get to the avg mpg or tfc gauge while in the gauge section...Also, when in the mpg gauge, I just watched the MPG jump around from 16 on up to 350 mpg (I wish). I double checked my settings to verify, all was correct. Is the SGII itself faulty, or am I …

  5. I am new to Dodge diesels. I have a 2000 model and when you start up at below freezing, there is a howl like a banshee coming from under the hood. It changes sound when you either turn the steering wheel or step on the brakes????? Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on??? After 15 minutes driving, it gets to be less of a racket but as long as its below freezing, it continues. Oh, and the temperature guage never shows over about 130 degrees. I have a new 190 degree thermostat to install when it warms up outside.

So once again it's time to register the truck and I have to take it to a shop and let them run the heck out of it while testing the opacity of my exhaust. It's a stupid once a year ritual that I have to go through because the People's Republic of Colorado says so, seriously this state is getting about as bad as California with the greenie crap. First off the Envirotest centers that test gasoline vehicles for $25 do not test diesels, so I am stuck paying anywhere from $60-$85 a year for a emissions test. Second it's a BS test. The techs are nice mind you, one year I forgot to turn the Edge down and the guy asked me if I wanted him to set it to 0 before conducting the t…

Today I drove into town about an hour drive. When I got there I stopped and it smelled like I had left the park brake on. I know that was not the case just what it smelled like brake material or clutch material. So here we go .... :$: Tue the truck goes in for some service. I'm getting my rv 275s installed, valves adjusted, mbrp 4" installed, Edge Juice w/Attitude installed, front end done ball joints, track bar, etc... the works. At that time I will have the free spin kit installed I got from DLux thanks Erik . I am getting a good deal at the shop so I am letting them do the easy stuff too. I have a torn tendon in my left shoulder so im out of options for the ne…

In Sept. I started having problems in my 98.5 with the torque converter at about 40 mph, tack dying, and sometimes no start every time. Milage dropped from 19 to 16. Dorkweed? said it was the crank position sensor. I was working 6 12's and driving 150 miles to work. I drove it until mid Dec. when I had time to fix it. It drives like a charm now, check engine light is off. Milage is still at 16. I think I need some more advice on the mpg.

  10. I've noticed a vibration in 6th gear on the highway in my '02 HO CTD. If I am gradually accelerating, the vibration begins at 72 mph, and continues on up through 80 mph (I haven't been up much higher). But if I am on the pedal, the vibration will begin as soon as I hit 6th at around 55 mph or so. The vibration feels like it's coming from the rear half the truck (I can't feel much of it in the steering wheel, but a little shake is there). Around town at lower speeds and in 1st-5th it drives smooth. I haven't heard any noises coming from the drivetrain either. Has anyone experienced this same symptom? Or have thoughts on the source? Maybe a wearing u-joint? The tires are f…

First id like to introduce myself, im from delaware and have a 99 3500 dually. My problem is the trans shudders alil bit around 40-50mph, i took it to the trans shop and they got 2 codes, 1693 on the engine side and 1682 on the trans side of the tester. i know the 1682 is a charging issue, coyuld this cause the trans to act up? also, when i start the truck for the first min or so, the volts read way low like at 10, then slowly rise up to above 14v, while at idle the truck will have kinda like sudden dips in the lites and the noise the fuel pump makes dip for a sec and then normal, any help would be great, looking forward to the site as well, im fairly new to the cummins. …

Hi All, I recently purchased a 4WD 2500 24v 5.9 with 115K miles. No problems at all for the first 800 miles. Twice since then, the engine has stumbled. Cruising at about 35mph, fully warmed up, with about half a tank of fuel, it just fell on its face for about a half a second, and then picked itself up like nothing ever happened. Any thoughts? I drained some clean fuel from the fuel/water separater, no water. There was a wire dangling that I re-connected to the filter housing. I think it was for the water in fuel sensor. That was about 100 miles ago. Today, the ABS and BRAKE lights come on and stay on. Gauges all look normal, and the brakes seem to work fine. Pro…

so i've had this thing for several months now and after a month or so of flawless working, it decided to screw up on mefor some odd reason, it won't show the water temp, IAT, and a few other things i forgetand before you ask, no i haven't tried it on another vehicle....but i don't think the problem is w/ my truck, because the water temp does show on the gaugeand just to say it...i did the gasser HP X gauge on mine, the only X gauge i have, and it seems to be pretty accurate...my motor is totally stock, and it read 230 HP in direct(4th gear) which seems about right for a motor w/ 139k that originally had 235....

  15. I have a 2002 CTD automatic that can't seem to decide what gear that it wants to be in or if it wants the convertor locked or unlocked between 35-40 MPH... Maybe the apps is bad? I remember when the auto manufacturers made stuff that was pretty good. They made cars that didn't blow head gaskets, didn't wear out wheel bearings, etc. GM had Turbo 400 transmissions, Turbo 350's weren't too bad either. Ford had c4 and c6 transmissions that performed quite well and the famous 9" rear end that is still the standard of many racing series to this day. Chrysler had the 727 and 904 transmissions and also the Hemi 4 speeds that were very good. Also the 8 3/4 rear ends as well as t…

I am to a point after many years with a BD low pressure indicator that I am in need of a true gauge on my 02. My question is this. I want a gauge that is electric and doesn't use isolators and needs bleeding ect. I want the best quality with least hassles. I read continuous threads on a lot of forums of the gauges with isolators causing more issues than the rest of the rig. Which gauge mfg is the cats meow? I don't care about the bling the face has just after reliable accuracy without hassles. On my 05 I am after an electronic gauge cluster like edge BD quad ect, looking for input on the best choice in that area also. I want to keep the 05 simple and uncluttered versus ru…

Do you know of anybody that has switched over to running an electric fan or fans on their CTD yet? I think that will be another project that I will put on my list for spring or summer. It's gotta be better than swinging that big fan around. I used to take the fan right off of my gasser trucks in the winter for a couple of months at a time. They are alot quieter and and have better throttle response without a fan in the winter plus they heat up better, as long as you don't have too much city stop and go driving. I believe the Derale fan company sells fans that have a built in adjustable thermostat for their fans now but I know for sure that Derale sells a kit with a coola…

  20. I'll have to check at the dealer in Canada to see if they have the heaters since we have Canadian warehouses that supply the dealers here. You might contact Mancini Racing in Detroit, www.manciniracing.com ? I think might be their website. From what I heard Chrysler is emptying some warehouses and Mancini had a bunch of that stuff for sale as they always have in the past for Chrysler. They have this pump on their site:http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/chucker54_2084_9531548 CARTER - 14-16 psi 100 gph Get the fuel flow you need. These universal rotary vane electric fuel pumps from Carter operate using leaded and unleaded gasoline, gasohol, and fuel boosters. They hav…
