Been haveing problems for a long time. The eng. surges eradict but only slightly. When at hwy speed say 65 you let off and rmp get to about 1500 then put it in nuteral rpm drop quick to about 700 then pick back up,if A/C is on it almost dies. No white smoke no black smoke fuel mileage is normal. And when you rev up the eng. then it starts droping it has a little rev up right before idle. I here common rail motors do this, why would a vp motor do this. I changed the inj. to 75 hp and it started this so I had rv 275's rebuilt and put them back in and still the same no change.I dont no if this means anything but rpm gauge bounces a little at idle. Also I loosen inj. lines so…

I am told I need to replace the chain in my transfer case. I am also told that it is fairly easy to do. Do you have any suggestion or writeups on how to replace the chain??

Should a BHAF increase the performance on a stock truck, or is a chip required to take advantage of the increased air flow? I installed a BHAF, and the three MPG calcs have dropped 1 MPG. Could be normal "noise" in the MPG calcs, but after three tanks I expected to see some kind of increase. - djb

Anyone using the Transfer Flow toolbox/fuel tank combo? Made a deal with a gent here in town last week and now I have a 50 gallon unit sitting in the back of the truck.Have not hooked it up yet and playing with options.First option is to hook it up using their computer display and enjoy. It monitors the fuel level of the main tank then adds fuel as needed in 5 gallon slugs.Had also wondered about just using it as an Aux fuel tank and putting a "on/off" stitch and controlling the flow manually. Before I do this, wondered if anyone else on the board had done this and had any suggestions or tips.Thx,FT

Just spent the afternoon installing most of the Edge w/Attitude on my 2002 Dodge. Most of it was pretty easy but getting to some of the sensor plugs was not real easy, and one of them was hidden under the LP pump.I did not hook up the sensors for the VP-44, transmission temp and EGT. Ran out of time to drill the exhaust manifold for the EGT and will do it later. I have a 6 speed manual tranny so not real worried about the transmission temps. As well I never tow anything (yet) so feel that the temps are fine. As for the VP-44 wire, want to drive it in the #1 setting for a while and see how it does. As I do not tow am not looking for lots more power and the wire to the VP is…

I have a vintage 2001 24 valve 3500 ram with a 5 speed manual trans. When the temps outside get below 40*F the truck is hard to start. The colder it is the worse it gets. However, if the truck has been plugged in over night, it will start fine. The other evening the truck was cold (about 45*F) and had not been plugged in, so I used my wifes hair dryer in the air box to supply hot air (it worked previously), it tried to, but no start and the batteries ran down trying. So I tried to pull start it. As soon as I let off the clutch in 3rd gear it started! I have tried new batteries and my fuel pressure is 15 psi at idle and 10-13 psi at WOT with a FASS DDRP lift pump. I …

I'm new to the site and new to the Dodge Cummins. I have a 2002 with 90,000 on it, stock as far as I know, had it about 2 years with no problems. Recently I would be driving along and suddenly lost power, the throtle goes to the floor with no response untill it downshifted and then it seemed to have full power again. I have been reading your forum and see it could be different things that can cause this. Here is what I know, There has not been a trouble code, or the check engine light has not came on. Fuel filter was replaced about three months ago, maybe 2,000, I can hear the pump come on when I turn the ignition switch on, the truck starts right up. Can someone give me …

My manual states that the intake air grid heaters will cycle on and off for approximately 3 minutes if the intake air temp is below 60 degrees F. However, I can't seem to find the durtion of the on cycle anywhere. Mine stay on for about 3 to 4 seconds, then off for about 15 to 20 seconds. Just curious if this is the correct cyclic timing sequence.PRG, 2002, Ram 2500, 5.9 CTD, 4 WD, Extended Cab, 8" Bed, Quadzilla XZT+, Quadzilla Monster Air Intake, Quadzilla Recon Gage, Okanogan Highlands, WA.

What is the differance between 600.00 60 Hp Dynomite Diesel inj. and cheaper ones. Dynomite advertizes flow balanced and matched to opening pressure. In other words is it worth it?

2002 3500...smelled antifreeze when driving..got home and saw that coolant was spraying in a small stream out of a tiny hole on the passengers side on the back of the cylinder head.Is this a small plug that came out or is it there to let you know there is a bigger problem like the weep hole on a water pump? thankx for any help!

Everyone claims the stuff is great, except for a few pages i found on the internet. They also really have a lot of websites for this stuff. Seems like Mary Kay or Avon for men. Does anyone actually have any proof this stuff works? I would still be worried about running any oil 25k without oil analysis, which adds even more to the cost of the oil. Do you guys think it would be worth it? I am currently running Valvoline Premium Blue @ $12.99 a gallon, so approximately $33 a fill. Amsoil Heavy Duty Diesel is $75.15 for 2.5 gallons.I read an article where a guy ran a 12-valve for 1 million miles and it was still going good but a little worn out on nothing more than off…

I can get my NV5600 to shift if i am creative enough but it always wants to grind on upshifts. Notably worse between 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd, 4th and 5th. 6th has never ground on me, and rarely a 3rd to 4th shift will. It never grinds on downshifts though. Also there is a rattling sound when idling second, usually when i am turning slow speed through a parking lot...but no rattling when accelerating while going straight. I am positive the sound is coming from the transmission. Any clues?

New to this forum and need some assistance. Recently purchased 02 3500 truck with 188k miles on it. My understanding is the fuel pump should be changed out and relocated due to the heat from the engine. The truck runs fine, but don't won't to screw up the injector pump. What pumps are recommended for this fix and where do you get the best bang for the buck? What are the pros and cons of the kit from Dodge, other than it is too damn expensive? Has anyone had any luck at repairing the rear plastic fender wells with the types of epoxies on the market? Duramix? Automix? What about adding a fuel pressure gauge and where should it located? Thanks from Texas.

I've been adding 2 cycle oil to my VP-44 and my wife's 12V since 2001, 8 years now. Pulled the injectors once and they looked exactly as expected. No evil 2 cycle "gum" buildup. Now to the interesting part: I bought another used 3500 2001 with 117,000 miles. Shortly there afterwards, I started getting low power periods and P1693 (?), the code for "internal timing error". I didn't have the time or money to replace the VP at that time. So I experimented with heavy dosing of 2 cycle oil in the fuel. <100:1 mix ratio. I was able to drive the truck several more months before replacing the VP.My son didnt believe me about 2 cycle oil, his VP died at about 150,0…

The emission issue with running any fuel supplement is I expect the powers that be pronounced a prohibition of ANY additive that has not been tested & proved to not put the emmisions out of limits. There's no way a 2 cycle refiner is going to spend the cash for this... so we're on our own. That does not mean it will worsen emmisions... just that it's untested. That being the case, I'm thinking of shutting up about what I put in the tank. I've had pump jockies eye ball me & even question it. If I had a container from a known additive, no one would blink an eye. Maybe I'll just magac marker the outboard marked container or find a motor oil quart. (I keep on…
