So I have searched here after reading an article on CF about fluid to use in the NV5600. Some say Pennzoil, Amsoil, OEM..etc. First off, is the Syncromesh transission fliud made for the GM brand the same stuff reccomended for this tranny? From what I can read I think it is, just makes a fella question it when GM sells for less then half of what Dodge dealers want. I have also read the theory of adding the limited slip (1 bottle) to the tranny when doing an oil change to it. Has anyone in here been doing it to theirs? I think i'm going to do a fluid change on mine and not sure what to put in it. I can't get the Pennzoil or Amsoil here in Canada where I live so it's gonig …

Trucks been throwing the 1689 code. I started to test the truck to see how often it throws the cel. 1689 every time. It will cut the power for a few seconds EVERY time it hits 2500ish rpms, it only happens at 2500rpm's. why would it be doing it at a specific rpm? I thought for a while it was only doing it under hard acceleration but its cutting out at 2500?????? Any ideas???

My overhead read about 16.7 to 16.9, but actual mileage was only 14.2, on stock size tires. Most driving was short trips and basically no highway miles. I know that's not TERRIBLE numbers but I am hoping to get up there around 17-20 mpg if possible. I was using the overhead to adjust my driving style and it seemed the harder I accelerated (to a degree) the mileage went up, so I would try to drive it harder, I think this tank I will ease up and see what happens. But other than that, I need to fix a small fuel leak behind the motor. I think it's the stock return line but haven't pinpointed it yet. Some ideas of future upgrades are AFE Stage 2 intake, RV275's, maybe a larger…

  6. Hey Guys, I am fresh to the site - have dug around on some of the tests that can be provided, did those and after running thru that and replacing the MAP sensor we are still at a loss so I am reaching out to you guys for some help if you would....The truck is a 2001 Dually, 3500 4x4, has the HO engine in it with about 83,000 miles on it. Fuel system has a Raptor 150 Pump with a Draw straw and bigger lines to support more fuel not only to the filter, but past it and direct to the VP. I run a pressure gauge that reads pressure just previous to the VP to monitor the pressure right before the VP to keep an eye on lift pump pressure and filter condition. It's been holding st…

  7. So I had a annoying slight surge when not under load at highway speeds. I did some research on this and a few other sites and ordered up a Timbos APPS. It got here in only 4 DAYS. I couldn't believe it. I can't get stuff here from Calgary in 4 days and thats only 200 miles away. Anyway got it installed, surge is totally gone and it feels like the first half of throttle is crisper now too. Great instructions and packaging too. Thanks TIMBO!!!

I have been having issues with my truck towing, seems to have a lack of power. Well for the fun of it I ran the 3x key thing on my truck and read the codes on my SuperChip and this is NOW what it is telling me.PCU 1693ECU 0216 & 0234I just had my injector pump tested at a shop in Green Bay only to pay these guys $700+ to test my injector pump, try to fix my turbo that they tell me my waste gate was stuck. Of course, broken bolts and yada, yada a huge bill and they tell me my stock turbo was cracked. So hence, I buy a new turbo $1200 and install the little wire to my map sensor so I dont get the 0234 code (over boost condition). Obiviously the little wires are not …

I HAVE A 98 24 VALVE WITH 165 k miles. I am getting a crank position sensor code set. This happens only near wide open throttle. The tach goes crazy and the check engine light comes on. when checked the only code is p0331. I have previously replaced the part but the code comes back. After doing a fair amount of reading I decided to check the fuel pressure. It reads 13 at idle and will stay there until i get close to 2500rpms or so at which point it will drop to around 8 pounds maybe. the needle flutters pretty bad. The truck also at that point runs like ____.So my questions are do I need to replace the crank position sensor , replace the lift pump, or should I do some mor…

My edge mph stays 20 to 70 mph above my actual mph so when i am traveling at 65 it thinks i am going 150 or so. i have to leave my edge alert at 200 to keep it from alarming nonstop. when i am traveling between 60 and 70 mph it shuts down like i am governing it out. once it gets below 60 it drives perfect. i tried unplugging the edge and it couldnt even get to highway speeds. had to plug it back in just to get home. will get codes read tomorrow as the only one the dash show in 1693 which we all know is a companion code. any ideas?

Can someone answer some questions about this article concerning measuring AC noise across the fuel fuelpump. My question is what position do i need to have the key when i probe terminals 48 and 50 on the ECM harness. The article isnt clear on that. I am thinking of running a 100 micron or something along those line in front of my raptor pump. I am running the standard screen that they send with the pump but I think that if I run a finer filter before the raptor that if will help keep it running quieter. Do you thing that its worth wild?

I was directed to an article posted by Mopar1973Man that was on a different forum. it concerns a P1690 engine code. it says that AC noise from my lift pump can also cause this. where does alternating current come frome on a direct current vehicle. The alternator? And why does it manifest itself in the fuel tranfer pump?

Now I got code 216:cry: after code 230 cleared by itself. Truck runs smooth as glass with no symptoms:think:. Has new Raptor 100 with the harness. Running 17.5 fuel pressure. Volt meter shows 13.1 volts at the lift pump when you bump the starter. Batteries at 13.6. fuel relay in the PDC tests good. Both filters changed 3,000 miles back with A clean and clear bowl on the Racor filter bowl.Okay, should I switch out the primary filter (suction side) from a 45 g.p.h. to a 90 g.p.h.? Might have too much restriction. I know I can pull f/p from 17.5 down to 14 with half inch fuel lines all the way.Should I not go to Yosemite with the 216 error code? It's a 1300 mile round trip.…

  17. I have my transmission out and will be turning it in as a core on a reubuilt transmission. I want to make sure the lines are clean when the new transmission goes in. What is the best way to do this? AutoZone has this, Has anyone used it before? Before the transmission came out, I flushed more than 20 quarts of fluid through the transmission. What a fiasco that was.... Anyway, when I drained the fluid to remove the transmission, the fluid was a nice clean, high dollar red. I only managed to put 30-40 miles on the fluid. Do you think the lines are ok? Could I install the transmission, fill it with fluid and leave the return line off and use the transmission to pump the …

Hello. I was wondering if anybody can answer me this one just to satisfy my curiosity. Theres a guy over on CF who's Raptor 100 quit due to dirt in the gears. He got a P0230 which makes sense and also a p1689 code. How can lift pump trouble cause a 1689? The last time I got one the VP was done. What really baffles me is he said once the lift pump was fixed it cleared all the codes. What am I missing?

  19. So I have a 2001 dodge cummins with the 6 speed manual, it has 50 horse injectors (50k on them) new vp44 (20k on that) the batteries are fairly new. It also has a pacbrake, air dog 150 which was installed before the new VP44 and a holset turbo that pushes a little more boost than stock and it also has a 4 in straight pipe. The issue with this truck is I have a miss and I called the kid tonight and he bought the APPS sensor from dieselsource.com and HE DID NOT CALIBRATE it. He told me he was getting his dead pedal in the same area I said it was missing at. I have cleaned the IAT sensor, probed the ECT and it all checked out good the only codes are a P0500 ( speed sensor si…

Alright, so in the midst of moving, I decided to try and kill 2 birds with one stone. Loaded up the dodge full with firewood. I had a cord of wood in the truck, but about 3/4 of it was just cedar. The other portion was maple. Really, I did'nt think it would cause a problem. I hauled alot more wood then that. I have stuck green paper birch in the truck in 8 foot lengths all the way to the top of my wood rack. Thats a crapload more weight in the truck then what I was just hauling. So, being that we were moving, I was driving the u-haul. I left the wife in charge of driving the dodge. She was not too confident in driving with this much weight in the truck. I told her she woul…
