Posting this issue for KyCTD since we talked about it in the chat last night and told him I would type it out for him. Bought a 2001 auto CTD that ran fine. One day he started getting on it pretty good and then it just turned into a really doggy truck, slower than any stock truck. Described it as "Geo metro being pushed by a yugo with a 30mph tailwind lol". Found it also had a cracked block. Scrapped the engine and found a 2000 donor truck which was also an auto. Put the engine in using the 2001 ECM and it ran but something wasn't right. Found out the cams were different, switched the cams and that made it run perfect. He used the 2000 VP as well, not the one off …

Has anyone with an automatic trans had their transmission Heat exchanger (located on the passenger side of the block) fail?If so is this a prone part to fail? The reason im asking is that at 10 years, and 8 year old engine coolant(before i changed it), im wondering if it will stand the test of time, or if i should go about replacing it, and avoiding trashing my fully built transmission.

Before I changed out the motor and tranny there were lots of spots in my driveway so it didn't bother me. But now there are no drips but I still get that burned oily smell once in a while. Being a rooky, is there something I don't know about? I can't see any obvious cause of this odor.

Hi guys. I have a couple questions on what is going on with my truck. I noticed I am shifting too early where the RPM's are low and it surges or jerks until the RPM's get higher. It is shifting into 4th gear with OD off at 25mph and it happens also about 45mph where its shifting into high gear and doing the same thing with OD on. Tonight I was doing a couple road tests and I got on it alittle more than usual and when I got home because of how it was acting, I used my scangauge and I had a p0234 code. So I have been doing alittle reading about the wastegate etc which I do not understand and wonder how the code is related to what is going on with my truck. Is it someth…

My truck ultimately runs great. It has good power. I recently replaced a crankshaft position sensor and noticed the plug will need to be replaced also. However replacing the sensor only, the check engine light has not illuminated again. However recently I have started to get a miss at idle after coming to a stop. Very slight, but noticeable. You can feel it in the truck. Not similar to the hard miss the crank shaft position sensor caused. The weird thing is my AirDog 150 has also started dropping pressure pretty bad. When new it was putting out 17psi nearly constantly, about a year later it was at 15psi. Then it kept dropping, much quicker after that. Now it is at…

Ok Gang...I got the ScanGauge II dialed in perfectly and extremely accurate now. I know exactly how to do and make the adjustment so it right near perfect. Fillup Procedure.1. Pick a fuel station that you going to use for a calibration fill point.2. Pick a pump that you going to use for filling. You must return back to the very same pump in the same direction!3. Fill the tank on the lowest sped possible of the pump this reduces foaming of the fuel.4. When the pump shuts off. That's it! Hang up the nozzle! Don't round up to the nearest dollar...5. This you go through the fillup process but leave the setting alone. Don't change the offset percent. But you can change the pri…

Thinking about installing a Boost Fooler with Boost Elbow on my 1998.5 24V Cummins. If I do this before I install the RV275 injectors will I notice any increase in power or fuel mileage? It's cold and very wet here now. When the weather warms and dries up I will do the KDP, RV275 injectors and valve adjustment with the Boost Fooler. What's your advise?Thank you, Kerley

Is there a way to tell if my Killer Dow Pin has already been repaired with the KDP Kit?Were all Cummins 5.9 24V 1998.5 manufactured with the KDP problem?Did Cummins ever solve the KDP problem during assembly?Any information will be appreciated, this KDP issue could be a very expensive repair which worries me.

Hi guys! Two days ago I had my Airdog100 installed at a shop local to the area I live. That night I went and picked it up and I had 22 miles to drive home. It idled fine when I left the shop, partway home it kinda sputtered alittle like there was a dead pedal for a couple seconds. Parked in garage and next day went to go get kids and it did it again with the pedal. I got it home and looked it over. Two hours later went to go pick kids up and it wouldnt start at first. I could hear the pump engage and then I left key on for about 30 sec just in case it needed that time to build pressure. It did finally start and rpm's were from 800 down to 500 jumping back and for…

OK, so I feel dumb even asking this question.. but I'm looking at the front of my engine and don't see a hose, bottle, vent or anything like it. What I think I'm looking at is just a smooth timing cover. D oes that make sense? I crawled under the truck and see what looks to be the vent/blow-by hose but it runs back up into the side of the block above the stock LP location. So, am I really dumb enough to be missing it somehow??

My fuel filter is still in the factory housing and used to just go to the local cummins shop to get a fuel filter but I have moved and would really like to know what to put in my truck. I think it was fleetguard but cant remember now. This topic is popular in the 3rd gen section but it never really comes up in the 2nd gen forums. So, what do you use?

So i got to thinking that having polls will help many make a decision or get a baseline of certain vitals on the cummins. Ill make a poll for a few things, it will help with troubleshooting as i see many times folks asking for "what range should i run" or "what is a good pressure" etc etc. I think these will be beneficial for all of us. Maybe Mike can make them a sticky so folks can get a quick look at vitals and what people run with things quickly.ill make the polls seperate from this thread.

Alrighty straight to the Chase I'm sick and tired of my nv I know its going out just don't know when. I've decided on what I want to do but need more info that what i can find. I want to swap in an eaton 8ll as that was the tranny I grew up loving in the old dump truck we used as a grain truck. It's what is familliar and its an eaton. But I'm open to suggestionsMy problem is how in the heck I'm going to mount that big sob. What transfer case to use? What clutch and flywheel? Bellhouseing? Is there a kit somewhere? Then once it is in how to convert my clutch? Get one out of the donor truck and fab it up? What is my cruising speed going to be in 8 at 1800 rpm?I have 353 gea…
