Some time ago before I needed to replace my heater core I remember reading a thread where Mike said " I'm gonna show you how easy it is to remove a dash on one of these trucks. I shoulda saved the write-up because now that I need it I can't find it. Can anyone tell me where the dash removal write-up is? :doh:Thanks, Dave

Got the 2" leveling kit for $90 used and the air bags for $150 used. Got it all on last weekend. With 20psi in the bags empty it rides way smoother than before. It's not sitting too high for the 265s in my opinion.

Does anyone know if the ambient air temp sensor has anything to do with the operation of the air conditioning system in our trucks or does it just provide an outside temp for the compass/ outside temp display? Also where is the sensor supposed to be located at? My truck did not come with either of those options but I am putting a/c in it and not sure if I need the sensor or not or if it is already there any info on this would be awesome thanks!

Odometer Accuracy I had a Search and rescue meeting tonight. On my way home I thought about how accurate my odometer is. Since I had the GPS on the dash and the ScanGauge II. I decided to clear the trip on the odometer, clear the GPS odometer and then clear the ScanGauge II odometer. Also the ScanGauge is set with a 1% offset to correct the speed to correct with the GPS. I know the distance for the test was rather short but it did uncover a odometer error on the stock cluster. The test distance was 4.95 miles exactly on the GPS. The ScanGauge II was showing 4.9 miles and the truck odometer was showing 5.0 miles. I'm going to re-run this test again on a long test on p…

So, for those that don't know, my truck is a hodgepodge of wiring, parts, and different model years-which while it runs, it does cause some issues. One of them that I've temporarily found a workaround for, is the AC. Getting it to run through the PCM and actual harness is out of the question-I have no clue how everything was spliced together, and i don't have the time or extra vehicle to use to tear the wiring apart and trace everything down right now. I have been able to get the compressor to activate, by running a relay off the battery, to a toggle switch inside the cab-but, if it's not retarded hot outside, I do have to shut it off periodically, as the lines will fr…

I have a canopy. It's a little wider than the bed, stands about 2' above the cab, all corners are rounded about 8" radius. Any idea how much drag as opposed to no canopy? Will I have much more drag with the 22' trailer behind?

Just curious as to whether anyone has a set of stock hub caps they would be willing to let go cheap????? Or does anyone know where I could find a decent deal on a set? I've looked all over ebay and all I have found is mostly used and abused ones in poor condition...I would like to find a set of chrome ones because I want to do a black powder coat on the wheels and just a little chrome would offset it nicely but any will do! I just hate the look of the rusty hubs on my truck:sick:. Thanks in advance!

Today I decided in spite of the existing truck bed cross member above the fuel module, I cut the opening for a access hatch or lid, whatever you call it.I knew I was taking a risk in weakening the bed but, If I just cut the surface out first I knew I would then be committed:cookoo: Committed to getting it done and to get it right.I only cut the surface and removed that first. Then I was able to see what to do, especially with new light on the situation.I found the cross member just behind the module on the right side would allow 1 1/2'' square tubing over the top and support the cut bed frame just perfectly. After Easter celebration I'll figure out the rest the support n…

Injector cleaners have been the long debate of the decade and I'd like to shed some more light on it. Injector cleaners have a number of things they have to do while also doing others. For instance, something made to tackle carbon means it could possibly and probably tackle the rubber of the fuel lines, gaskets, etc. This means injector cleaner additives are extremely weak and must be used long term for them to do anything. One test I did was putting an injector that I hadn't cleaned into a cup with injector cleaner additive in it. I waited 24 hours, pulled it out, and nothing had changed. I had dumped the injector cleaner straight into the cup so it was 100% co…

My headlights aren't quite cutting it for me anymore. I had a similar issue with my 2000 V10's headlights, they just don't put out much light. Our 05 Silverado low beams are equivilent to my trucks high beams, especially in the rain. I am planning on picking up some "smoked" housings to go along with my all black and white color scheme. I was wondering if the brightness problems lie solely on the bulbs used, or will an aftermarket light put out much better brightness? Link to kit I am looking at: http://www.ebay.com/itm/94-01-DODGE-RAM-SMOKED-LENS-HEADLIGHTS-LAMP-ASSEMBLY-96-/220806310939 If it is a bulb issue alone, I have no problem buying this kit and then swapping so…

I want to install a new draw straw and 1/2" fuel line from the tank. I'm torn between dropping the tank and lifting the bed. Understand that I work in gravel and don't have a lot of jacks/tools. I even saw a YouTube video where a guy cut a hole in his bed to gain access. That's even a consideration. Problem is that the tank unit sits right under a support bar of the bed. But a couple holes on each side of the cross member might be adequate. Having perminant access to the tank unit would be cool. But not sure I have the guts to go that way. So looking for opinions about bed tilting or tank dropping. I can invision a pully system to lower and raise the tank.

So here is what I have going on- I own a 2001 Dodge Cummins four-wheel-drive 2500 It came from the factory Without air-conditioning. What I want to do is install air conditioning on it. Does anyone have any experience with a project like this? For instance is all the wiring already there in the factory wiring harnesses So all I would have to do is get the components and switches installed And plug everything in it and once the system is charged of course it should work or is there more to it than that Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

i am a little confused by this. everything that i read says that my truck should have a 36 gallon tank as standard equipment. but i have never put more than 26 gallons into an empty tank. was there an option for a smaller tank? when the fuel light comes on surely there is not 10 gallons left? i am curious if my guage/sender is reading correctly.

So, I finally had time to spray in the Al's DIY bedliner kit today...prepped the bed, had everything taped and masked off. It was nice and warm out, no wind, sunny, everything was good-until I started mixing the first batch up. I got it mixed up, and realized I had forgotten to put an airline fitting on the spray gun....So, I'm running around the garage, trying to find a fitting, before the batch had a chance to set. I didn't end up having to worry about that. In my rush to get the fitting on, and get the material in the gun and sprayed, I didn't realize I had failed to mix the B bottle into the batch... Until I had started spraying it. It was coming out like crap,…
