Just recently my steering started to produce a clicking noise. It only seems to happen at slow speeds and maybe its just me but feels like its getting sloppier. I can also feel the clicking in the steering wheel. Any ideas?

The Mystery Knock... Written By Lance Drivon With a Bottle of Melrose Merlot 2006 :spend:It all started out in that nice May evening in 2010 installing my new plate, gauges and exaust. After installing them all and about to take off on her maiden voyage after startup I draw in a tip off a Snap-On pick that the previous owners mechanic had broke of in the inercooler boot that I wasnt aware of. BANG BANG BANG BANG.....I went cold. The riveting noise of that hollow clock clock clock noise.... SO I take it to a Mechanic who works on Big Rigs and light duty Diesel trucks. They pull the head, drop the pan. Head gets milled and magnufluxed. New genuine cummins parts gets …

Went away on holidays, no problems until I got about 3 miles from home, stopped to fill up and pushed clutch in after being in stop and go traffic and it went to the floor. Best place for it to happen though, was able to chug it home starting it in gear and creeping through stop signs. Of course happened during rush hour which made it more challenging. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/4226-Anyway-to-check-how-much-wear-a-clutch-has-left Had changed the slave cylinder a few months ago, parts guy recommended I replace both, but being a Scot i took the cheaper route, well should have taken his advice just replaced the Master and it got my clutch working again. …

Today, I am taking the P7100 off for no apparent reason. I will have to take it off later for the tappet cover gasket so I have nothing better to do today so I'm gonna pull it, take a million pics, etc. Then I can explain some of the harder things to get pics of on the pump. I did this once before at school on an 8.3 p7100 cummins so it shouldn't be too bad. They wouldn't let me dig into the pump there though. I'm gonna go start on it now before 7AM hits --- Update to the previous post... Here we go. I'd say it could be done in an hour. I had to make another gear puller since someone seemed to have taken the other one I made.

Hey guys i justed joined the site and just getting the fever for tweaking on my truck. I have a 96 12 valve with 308,000 miles on the original motor and tranny. I recently removed my fuel plate and not sure what the other thing is called that i removed but it fits in connection with the fuel plate and has a pin going through it that i had to unbolt to remove it. I afc star key all the way forward and adjusted the smoke screw in till one thread was showing. I also have a K&N air filter and its straight piped out. With that being said i was already having transmission problems, i would have to let off for it to shift and it shifts into overdrive to fast and kinda lugs i…

The early 12V's used a spin on filter and the later 24V's used a different filter altogether so this is only for the midrange. I don't know why I had so much trouble with this one, the video camera always makes me screw up but I left it all unedited because I don't want to edit it right now. So here is the unedited version, will make it better tomorrow, and add an article.

A while back there was some talk on getting some guides on doing the things we normally seem to take for granted, like the knowhow of changing your oil. Theres some things some people may not know so I figured I would go over them all. If anyone has anything else to add, by all means let us know. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=89CtGigAgfA Alright here is the writeup on how to do this. The first thing is to try and get as much oil as possible into the oil pan. An engine that has been running recently (within maybe 3 hours) still has a lot of oil all over the engine interior and you need to let as much of this residual oil drain to the oil pan as po…

Since my RPM gauge doesn't work right now and I never thought it was worth a crap before (under 1000 theres 2 lines and apparently they aren't 333 and 666, over 3000 theres 4 lines and yeah, PITA). I saw this thing by the people who make the EGT gauge and drooled over it for a while so I finally just got it. It's got more settings than I have sensors, just like the EGT gauge, so it's pretty interesting. Can go 0-999,999RPM and change all the ratios you can do it. I think I can set it to show XXXX.XX so it will be incredibly accurate. I got a proximity sensor with it so I can see RPM anywhere that I want. I didn't realize it was gonna be that big so I gotta do some t…

Hey all iv been searching all over the internet for a pin out for my 1995 ram 2500 12 valve. the problem im having is all the pin outs are for a 3 plug pcm, mine is only a 1 plug with 60 pins, im trying to diagnose why my pcm has no power or gorund, because the charging system, grid heaters, tach, overdrive, pretty much anything controlled thru that computer is dead, i already changed the ESS engine speed sensor, thats what i was told would cause the problem, and yet still have the same problem, iv traced it to the pcm plug, if i wiggle the plug with the key on, i can hear the grid heaters clicking on an off, if i wedge the plug in an up positon everything works just fin…

I had a fuel plate and pyrometer installed on my 94 yesturday. Ran great, they had to turn it down a pinch. Today its not running as well. I called the shop he suggested it was because I started running my veggie oil agian today and probably have plungers sticking in the fuel pump from the veggie. Is that a possibilty? . For the last week or so I have run on reg diesel with amsoil cleaner and was running great especially after fuel plate. Today began running veg again. Today another difference is I was climbing hills with a trailer (8K). Should it matter? The thing acts like it will not rev up, then once I get it up to speed it takes off again. Sometime fuel plat…

I decided to get rid of every single regular 6 point bolt and put stainless allenheads there instead, maybe regular 12.9 grade allenheads as well, I love allen bolts . Figured out it wouldn't cost me but $50 to do the whole engine. Some bolts have rusted and I want them out of there as well as getting some good antisieze to put on every single bolt. As a side effect, I will be making a list of every single bolt size on the truck. I still have to do some counting and I think the timing cover has 2 different sizes but I couldn't remember which one I needed to pull out that was the other size so I gotta go out and keep playing with it. Here is what I got so far. When y…

I am getting issue like not enough fuel I believe. How much pressure and volume do I need to supply my 94 high pressure pump? I bought a small electric diesel fuel pump but think it is not enough. I think this pump puts out 7lbs pressure, pretty sure its inadequate. The symptoms are: idles great but getting up to hwy speeds wants to cut out. It has similar symptoms to air in the fuel system. I have heard about FASS, air dog etc.. I want a simple pump that will put plenty of fuel/pressure to my big pump. Whats a good deal for the money? I want to install it in the engine compartment after the fuel filter. I know some of you don't like the idea of after the filter, bu…

Bigger injectors mean more fuel; more fuel means more heat, smoke, and power.... I'd expect that for an equal injection quantity and boost level, power should be the same and the shorter duration injection event would improve combustion, effectively advance timing, and lower EGTs. Can those who have swapped injectors around confirm this? I'm still running the stock ISB 205 injectors with my B5.9 215 P-pump and my EGTs are not well controlled. They don't drop at higher RPMs under load - possibly in part since my wastegate is shut. I can play with the wastegate and maybe help myself out a little, but grossing at 24k through the PA hills there were places that …

Had the rear pinion seal replaced in my Dana 80 2 weeks ago as it was leaking. Was going to do it my self but ran out of time and needed a tool to crank it to +500ft/lbs . Anyways sucker started leaking again tonight, haven't drove more than 500 miles.Haven't contacted the mechanic to see what it could be. I supplied the seal and he supplied the labour. Anyone have any experience with these and what could cause this? Are there better seals, as I paid around $25 with my parts jobber wholesale for the one I got. Thanks for any input on this guys.Rick
