  1. I had run an errand, backed hard left out of parking space... (no gas) car seemed to not back as fast as normal. I wasn't concerned as it was close parking so slow is fine. When I went forward, car did not want to up-shift (automatic). I checked shifter was correct & ebrake off (I don't use). Smelled like badly burning clutch... I was most concerned about transmission. Had smell with me for several miles, I rolled down window to get rid of it. I don't drive hard anyway... Car seemed to drive ok, but I was concerned. Drove it home at reduced speed. When I got home, I put max pressure on brake pedal... I think pedal is low though seems to take hold. I di…

1996 Town and Country- 3.3 litre- I have no voltage on my CCD Data Bus. There is supposed to be approximately 2.5 volts to ground from each of the Bus (+) and Bus (-) terminals. Does anyone know which module the bus bias is in and the bus termination is in. Thanks.

The vibration does not seem to be speed sensitive, no resonance. Doesn't seem to link to engine speed. Vibrates steering wheel, GPS. It's been going on for some time. Persistant... all the time. This has been making me crazy. Seemed like it ought to be simple enough... I've been working on this on & off for several months... meanwhile, I've put maybe 5000 on the car... just rolled 100,000.I had all tires rebalanced... twice. Nothing found. Problem remained. I wondered about CV joints... shop sold me new drive shafts... Vibration remains. The car needed brakes... I put all new disks, pads, drums & shoes... stops good. Still vibrates.I notice the s…

My Mom bought it brand new... I inherited it 5 years old with 8000 miles. I've run it up to 90k now. I wouldn't have picked it out but I'm more comfortable in it than most other cars.

As some of you know, I have been driving around in my brothers 2000 V6 3.7L 4x4 5spd dakota while I mess with my truck. Well today (and supposedly a week ago it happened to my dad) it just went nuts. Ran perfect then all of a sudden it would buck and backfire and the RPM gauge was going all over the place erratically. If you let off it will just get lower and lower on the RPM until it dies, sometimes it will catch itself though and rev up to 1200 (like something in the gassermatronics is sticking), it does that even when the engine is running fine and everything, but today it added all the insanity to it. On the way back home it ran fine, then I had to stop for a car …

  8. I got a friend that asked me about a power steering pump problem on the 04 Dodge Dakota's. I guess the pump has a screen built in and there is issues with the pump plugging up and wiping out the pump itself. Has anyone seen or heard anything about it?

I am looking at picking up a set of used factory chrome 17 inch rims for my 02 and was wondering if the center caps from second gen 16 inch wheels will fit on 3rd gen 17 inch rims? I could go out and check for myself but I am feeling lazy and am ready fro bed. --- Update to the previous post... Well to answer my own question................................... NO they are not interchangable, the center of the rims are shaped differently and the center caps are not interchangable either way.

mouse cage blower on the heater. (Cirus) The cage was full of mouse trash & heater core obstructed again. I never have figured out how to get the cowel up so I could screen the air inlet like I've done on others,I dropped the blower, cleaned it all out. MOstly fingers with a little shop vac (really could not get in there good). Same as lasat time but a son-of-a-female-dog as are most things which really require 2 fully functional hands. I ended up using a stick to jam the blower back into place so I could get the screws back in. My only defense is to switch the heater to recirculate when parking... but some damn fool (probably me) eventually forgets to.Russ

Well Gang... I got the Cummins out of the shop and pull the 96 Gasser in to look it over and check fluids and such. Pull the spark plugs and check the gap and condition. Surprisingly the plugs where in excellent condition and only a few needed a bit of tweaking on the gap. I found a coolant leak and the surprise of it was I knew there was one because of the constant loss of coolant but couldn't see it. Then as the truck warmed up everytime you'd smell the sweet smell of coolant... Found it! The leak was on the corner of the intake manifold and the last bolt of the row was not exactly torqued tight... I'm planing on doing much more with this truck very soon... I'm planing …

  15. Hey gang... Reference - http://forum.mopar1973man.com/showthread.php/2123-Mopar1973Man-1996-Dodge-Ram Ok Mom's 96 trans is acting rather goofy. ATF fluid is clean, don't smell burnt, and it full... But if I to set the cruise at 65 MPH and cruise home up the canyon hit a small hill and it shift out of 4th to 3rd pulls over the hill and then stay in 3rd. But if I give more throttle so it coast for just a second it lock up into 4th no problem. This is rather annoying and I would like to fix this little problem. Any help out there?

After lots of reading about my truck, I have decided I'm doing ok.I change my oil every 3000 miles, and the fuel filter at the same interval.I'm now running the two cycle oil in my fuel too.So! with my new vp44 I think it should last a while longer then it did the first time.My mileage was at 61,000 miles with the first failure. I'm thinking one of the reasons was because of the fact I have not been driving the truck much. In the last 6 years I usually only put around 400 miles a year on it.Winter time it just sits in the yard, and I plug in the block heater.I think I will be driving it more now to keep it exercised.Opinions are appreciated.

It seems that since the divorce of Mercedes and Chrysler and the new marriage to Fiat, MB has pulled the plug on Dodge Sprinter vans? Oh well we can still get the MB and the Freightliner versions I guess? http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/Mercedes-Benz_Sprinter/
