So a few of you know I've been dealing with smoke at idle on my truck.

Long story short every theory has been touched on.

Last action was redoing the exhaust valve seals for no change.

However I still have  a oil looking ride Comming outing #1 exhaust . It looks like oil .... but obviously could be fuel with soot.

99% this is cause of my smoke at idle.

I'm waiting to have a phone conversation with bill W&F.... but entertaining ideas of what I'm I'm for if I remove head.

Considering parting out otherwise.

If the oil wiper ring is stuck damaged carboned up ect it has nothing to do with compression, there are compression rings and oil rings. I would actually try a different oil for a few thousand mi

I take it you're getting out of the truck?

Still undecided.

I might try a regular exhaust ..... fix oil leaks and steering and go from there

As always

Fair enough.  I figured you were looking for parts to return to stock prior to sale.

I've never used that ebay exhaust.  Good luck!

Figure they are all just bent aluminium steel piping .......no point paying extra unless I want SS.

But obviously depends on bends and fitment being good.

Side note.

Oil leak looks like it's from behind the belt pulley to the right of the water pump somewhere.

  • 2 weeks later...

No new exhaust yet.

Oil leak looks like it's coming from top of timing case .....right under water pump.

Obviously have to pull water pump and maybe fan pulley ...... ideas on what I'm looking for ?

Loose timing case bolt ? Main seal ? Kdp ?

I had an oil leak 4 years ago about same place, I pulled my front head studs out, sprayed some good carb clean in the hole and cleaned oil out then squized some rtv in the hole and bunch on the stud and put it back in, let it seat over night so far no leaks. I belive there is an oil passage close to front stud.

Not sure why I can't post links from my phone.^^^

But pulled water pump .... no issues.

Think it's just seeping past the timing cover .... so cleaned up and put a bunch of rtv along seam of each side ..

Will see.

Truck is listed for sale.

Will see on that too.
