I decided to rebuild my 2nd gen.  I'd bought a rust free box and set of doors 2 years ago to be installed.   That was all I planned on.

Then last Feb I was on the DOR site.  I ordered a few parts, extreme 3" lift, long arms, bolt in steering, steering brace, traction bars, Carli rear springs with axle flip and airbags, fox 2.5's coil overs up front, fox bump stops front and rear.

I'd already collected and installed a few fueling and air upgrades, EJWA hot unlock, fass 95, Crazy Carl's tunnel ram intake, 3.5" intercooler piping, air horn, BHAF, Magnaflow stacks etc.  Then I ordered a few more parts, II VP, Crazy Carl's twin kit with a 62/68/12 and a S475/96/1.10, a set of 7x10.5s and a set of Sac 7x13's with tip mode, Northern hi flow intercooler, fass 150, coolant bypass, billet freeze plugs, and a bunch of supporting parts that I haven't looked at in a year including a redhead steering box, Geno's ps lines and hi pressure pump, borgestein steering shaft, new rad, new hoses, new red top ultima's etc.

While I was waiting for my parts from DOR, which I ordered and paid for Feb 16, 2017.  They are supposed to be here next week.  I decided if I was going to spend the money I had so far I should upgrade the rest of the engine before bolting all the parts on.  So I ordered a reman long block from DFC in Edmonton Alberta Canada, with Wagler rods, Hamilton valve train, stage 3 cam, o ringed head etc.  I have a new fan hub and support, new water pump, new oil cooler, new engine mount inserts.  I know I have to do the 47re again as I had it rebuilt twice in the 18 months I drove the truck and is slipping again at nearly stock power, I've been in contact with a shop here in Nova Scotia Canada who builds tranny's for the pulling crowd, he is going to build me a billet 47re.  I have a bd billet flywheel.

Is there anything else I should replace while I'm building the truck?

I'm redoing the whole brake lines with a ss kit I got.

I think it will be a decent build when finished, it's a factory Sport DRW 4x4 ECLB with leather.  I have a ram air hood, front flares and a visor to go on when the body and paint is done, with all smoked lenses, truck is factory black. Have a new set of American Eagle 059 alloys and 315/75r16's

  • First off welcome. That is quite the list. The only thing that comes to mind is, with all you are adding you might want to look into the Quad versus the the Edge. There is alot more tuning you can do

Welcome, cool built. like mentioned above I would also say if money is not a problem buy a quad with v2 tuning if you're staying with vp, if you're going to p-pump it then @jlbayes is your guy for adv

Yes I do. I have seen very few 7 hole injectors do what 6 holes can. What you have now will work fine with the setup as well. Keep that in mind.

I realize I'll lose the electronic tuning, that's why I haven't bitten the bullet and bought a p pump and install kit yet.

Just remember a P-pump 24V will have less efficiency and the MPG's are typically lower. Hopefully you are not looking for a daily driver in this realm. As a track and racing they are awesome.

That is more due to the owners not tuning the pump properly.

I think for now I'll build it with the parts I have already purchased.  I'd like to get it back on the road.  I'm seriously considering a p pump and a supercharger feeding a big set of twins for a project next winter though.  I live out in the country, the nearest town is 60 miles away, I don't think driveability will be an issue, I hardly ever go anywhere there is a lot of traffic or stop lights.

My major hindrance to doing many mods to my truck (my wife) moved in with who I thought was my good friend a couple of years ago.  Now I seem to have access to more of my money to allow me to have some fun.  Her replacement seems to have no issue with me sending money on my toys.  ???

Not what I was talking about. I'm like you I live in the middle of nowhere and long ways from towns. That's not the issue. What I getting at is VP44 truck have been able to clear 20 MPG by most of the members here. Now P-pump trucks tend to get much lower MPG's. Bigger the HP/TQ number the lower average MPG number typically.

Like myself local fuel is $3.329 vs when I get to Payette, ID at $2.999 a gallon. I can drive 125 miles on 1/16 of a tank. Done it more than once.

So I'm one of the efficiency nuts that can really squeeze the MPG's out of these truck being my all-time high record is 27.2 MPG. Rather impossible for a P-pump 24V to do.

I have a new 2017 3500 that I'm getting 15mpg with fully deleted and tuned, but on 35's.

My 2nd gen stock would give 25 hand calculated with stock 215 tires.  I've never worried much about mileage, I had an F350 V-10 and a 3500 Chevy with a 454.  Anything above 10 looks good now.

I bought the exe a new 2016 Power Wagon with the 6.4 hemi in Dec I only drove it a few times before she decided she was leaving in March, it only gave 12-14 light and 8 towing 13k

All my trucks run through my company so fuel and parts are a write off.  If I don't spend it It'll only go to the governent or her, so I figure why not have some fun.

I'm paying $1.35 a litre locally here in Nova Scotia Canada for diesel.

I'm sorry to hear that about your other half Tom, I'm afraid most of us are in same boat, (or at least me lol) they all gone nuts for the most part, brainwashed by tell-lie-vision, thinking they need a new house, car, image, and everything else all at the same time, and who cares if it's all bought with borrowed money. Life is not what it seems that's for sure. But I believe our creator has a plan for it all.
