Does anyone know where I can get new trans cooler lines from the transmission up to the heat exchanger tank or whatever that tank is on the side of the trans? Its leaking really bad out of that fitting.

  • If that fitting is bound that tight I don't think an easy out will work.  With the walls so thin It probably will just jam the threads of the fitting tighter into the case.      I would take

  • Such a relief!!! These are worth their weight in gold!!! Anyone know what this fitting is called and the called? Also this axe body wash is the best grease oil remover I've ever seen.  

  • Go buy a lottery ticket because you got lucky.   If you snapped the fitting taking it off I thought for sure that was seized in the case.

Trans cooler line part # 52028633 is available through rock auto, It’s the one that goes from heat exchanger to front of radiator, I just ordered one and in the process of installing as of now. It was just a little over 40 bucks with shipping. 

I think I should have got the rubber hose  also with a new quick connect  

for I may have destroyed mine taking it apart, what a royal PIA.. my only option now is to either order a new hose with quick connect or cut the quick connect off rubber hose and just slide it on the new cooler line , but just can’t bring myself to cut the flange off the new steel line 

I'm looking for the flexible rubber lines that come out of the bottom of the heat exchanger. The one that leaks on my truck is the rear one. Don't know if it's in or out and I'm afraid to crank much tighter on the fittings. I'm tempted to remove them and see if there is a replacable oring or if I can take it to the shop in town to rebuild them altogether. The exchanger worries me some too. The color of the 'fluid' coming out isn't quite red tranny oil and isn't quite antifreeze and isn't quite engine oil. It makes a mess and even more worrisome is if that exchanger totally fails and mixes tranny fluid with antifreeze, that would definitely leave you on the side of the road at some point. The reman exchangers on ebay are upwards of $410 used. PIA to get at too.

The one I just replaced is a hard line direct   To the heat exchanger going to the front transmission cooler on radiator. I have no rubber or quick connects at the heat exchanger. It is the foreword side of the heat exchanger. The one on the rear of heat exchanger is the line comming from transmission. I don’t know of a rubber hose with quick connect on that one either but didn’t pay to much attention either for I was doing it pretty much by feel. 

Is it possible some one may have modified yours. If your heat exchanger is leaking into the trans fluid I would defently replace it, sure beats replacing the transmission. I have heard of some bypassing it but it’s not anything I would recommend .

I'll get pics this weekend. I'm original owner. No one has done anything to her that I don't know about. It is a very early 24v (431 off the St Louis line and I've seen a couple oddities). I've also researched the bypassing of that heat exchanger in other forums and it's been done but with less then great results. Very much discouraged by others that know much more then I. It is my understanding that exchanger has more to do with reducing tranny temps then the air cooler on the front grill.  Like I said I'll get pics. There are definitely flexible lines coming out the bottom of the exchanger that connect to the solid lines.
