Quadzilla Adrenaline V2 has started kicking on high idle when its past the set point of 160°. Engine temp on Quad and autometer both show 180+ and it will turn on. If i turn off high idle in settings it does stop it from turning on. This started out of nowhere about 3 days ago. I left it off overnight and it worked correctly for 1 drive then this morning started doing it again.

It has also started displaying the wrong gear. Driving with shifter in D it will show 1,2,3,4. As i come to a complete stop it shows 4,3,2,1,3,4,L. Shows L until i start moving again. In P,N,R it shows L. It was always pretty accurate before 1-1 1/2 weeks ago.

I reset the vehicle selected and reset all settings with no change.

I had made no changes to anything on the Quad before these issues came up. Would reflashing the Quad help? Can i do this myself?

  • Quadzilla high idle only worked on lvl 0 within the code.  Or if the power bar is green for being colder than warmup temp setup.

Ok I'm an idiot. Went to the truck at lunch and checked the Quad.  I turned power level to 0 this morning when i did my WOT run. Thought i put it back to 3 afterwards but it was still on 0.

Don't put too much thought into the gear selector.  It is a best guess based on math.  There is no trans sensor information to read in regards to gear on the engine bus.

Please datalog the high idle issue happening.

This is calculated not actual. Its based off RPM, gear ratio, etc. and some math to figure out what gear position.

What is the IAT and ECT temperatures at firs tkey on without starting. These two values should match. If there is aseveral degrees of skew then I would say replace the ECT sensor.

Are you on power level 0?

@Quadzilla Power power level 0,2 and 3

@Me78569 I'll have to hook it back up to my phone to datalog. Tried from my Fire tablet but couldn't get it to work.

@Mopar1973Man ill check on way home today.

 Thanks everyone.

It worked on 2 and 3 when power bar was green. Now it will kick on when its red.

Was it not supposed to work on pl other than 0?

the code only allows for lvl 0 warmup mode OR if the bar is green.

If it is happening on red then it isn't warmup mode causing the elevated idle.

Guess what im forgetting is it defauts to 0 when a warm up temp is selected.

If i turn off high idle in settings or tap gas pedal it drops to 800 idle. Not trying to argue, just understand. Started doing it out of the blue

I'll try to data log this. I am running the default tune also

Try and reflash because the code does not allow for high idle to be enabled when the power bar is red

Yeah I forgot the level 0 will start high idle regardless. I do that in the winter time when I was waiting for Mom to finish dialysis.

I did not know that on 0 it would kick on the high idle at any temp. That probably explains why it didn't do it the other day. Thanks for the help and sorry to waste everyones time but thanks a lot for the fast responses.

I have a lot to learn about the Quad and have not had enough time to do it yet.

My offer is open... If you want I can guide you on building tunes or you can give me call at 208-315-1470 and I'll school you over the phone the best I can.

@Mopar1973Man thank you. Sooner or later I'll have to make time and take you up on that. You have the best site I've found with a lot of helpful members. Thanks again everyone.

Hopefully sooner... I can get you going on a good tune that make some MPG for ya. I'm now getting my hands dirty with performance tunes and needless to say it not helping the life span of the tires. No coal smoke but I can tire smoke if I wish... I don't even have to hit WOT but just roll into the throttle and boost snaps to and the tires lose the battle of torque. I've done a bit of study on how my RV towed on the Quadzilla and have a good idea how to build a good tune that helps MPG's but add some towing power for grades if needed. 7 x 0.010 injectors seriously you can just play on CANBus fuel and when you need a ace up the sleeve you can turn up the level above 3 and whip a another truck. Kind of cool to roll around like near stock and get challenged and turn on the wire tap and whip a 4th gen... Now that's fun!
