Hey, guys.   I picked up an 07.5 dually.  I'm in need of a few items, so thought I'd pop it up here, too.
I need 2 17" dually wheels (steel), and an air filter assembly (they were missing when I got the truck)..

IIRC, @MnTom ran a BHAF on 3gen truck..  Can this also be an option for the 6.7L?  Anyone got info or pics on this?  THanks..

Also, if you know of some dually wheels laying around, LMK.    Like I said, I need 2.  I can't seem to find any on CL or forums (chevy or dodge..  i find a ton of ford crap.)

  • That’s only big on size, not on flow. That’s pretty dismal on flow, as most BHAF’s are.    An HX35 can flow nearly 600 CFM, and a HE351(5.9 and 6.7 OEM turbo) is over 800CFM.

  • I would look for a used OEM air box, it may not be that hard to find.    I'd even go the sealed S&B route over a BHAF.    The underhood temps are much higher than you want to i

When @Taz gets up here I'll verify his truck he's also got a BHAF but I don't think the temps are as high as you think. I can jack into a the OBDII and check the live data.

thanks, Michael.  I guess I'll order a Donadlson and give it a go.   Prolly easier than finding/buying/shipping a used airbox.

The underhood temps are much higher than you want to ingest on that body style.

I’ve ran thermometers on the outside of my air box on the 05. I don’t recall the specific temps, but it was eye opening for how well the OEM intake pulls outside air since I could compare it to the AAT on the MM3.

I'm sure there has to be quite a bit of temp difference from stock airbox vs bhaf, just given the design.

Next weekend he'll have new batteries so we can get it running soon. Still in all not as bad as most think. He's ran it for 2 years.

As mentioned, I don’t think the temps are much higher... I know they are.

Like I said we'll see. Not everyone's truck run exactly like your truck. Just saying...

Sure there will be minor differences, but thinking that airflow will be that different is pretty far fetched.

Consider that I had a blanket on my manifold and turbine, a water cooled turbo, and a wrapped down pipe and a stock truck will run hotter... especially a stock 3rd gen 6.7, deleted will be closer to stock 5.9 temps.

We all know how much you love your BHAF on a 2nd gen, but they are a waste of money and a decrease in performance on a 3rd gen. People have been there and done that, it’s history at this point.
