My neighbor that lives across the road from my family's ranch on the mountain, has a 2007.5 Cummins 6.7 2500 4x4 pickup that I just installed a brand new Clutch, flywheel and hydraulics in it.

 

A while back he had a different 07.5 2500 Cummins that had fog lights from the factory. He swapped the front bumper assemblies, and swapped in the headlight switch with the fog light function.

 

He can't get the fog lights to come on. I just went into his BCM and turned the fog light functionality on, but when I press the headlight knob in to turn on the fog lights, they still don't come on. The fog lights worked when the setup was on the other 07.5 pickup.

 

I looked in the fuse box (TIPM) but I don't see any fuses labeled for the fog lights, so I assume they run off a relay?

 

Does anyone know if there's a fog light relay or fuse in the TIPM and which spot it's in?

 

 

TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) this is what actually turns on the fog light. Double check the fuses. Beyond that the fog light are turned on by CANBus message not by a voltage switch we all know. Like the multifunction switch is a mere 5 wires on CANBus system. The headlight switch and fog light controls again are all CANBus message. If you have a second truck with TIPM you can swap it fast in a few minutes just need tools to pull the power lead from the stud. No relays in this system just the TIPM...

Where is the fog light fuse or relay located at in the TIPM? I didn't see a fuse spot labeled for the fog lights. Is there a specific fuse spot number or relay spot number for them in the TIPM?

Unknown, but the entire headlights and fog light are controlled by the TIPM. There is zero relays in this system. Then the only fuses are the ones you see. Nothing more. 

 

This is not like our old school 2nd gen with a fog lamp relay, fog lamp fuse, etc. This is not there in the 3rd gen up with TIPM. After fighting with a 2006 with a headlight malfunction that you could turn on the headlights with the switch but you pull the multifunction switch back for dimmers the wipers would come on and hi beams. Turn signal only worked to the right but no left. Again this is all based on a CANBus message getting back to the TIPM to turn on and off these functions but not working correctly. My only solution to you is call a module rebuilder like "Module Master" in Moscow ID and see. They will also test before they start to see what is actual wrong or not working correctly. 

 

 

Yeah, I went through this same issue with my 07.5 (factory no-fogs).  I added, and had to turn the signal on twice (on, save, off, save, on, save) before they started working. 

 

Sounds like best solution is to bypass all the garbage and go with a relay and a switch. 

I would bypass even the factory lighting being it low quality any ways.

 

Way too much options out in the LED world that product way more light for a fraction of the power required. When you taking the fuses for tail lights and marker light and changing to a 5A instead of 20A fuse. Yup. My PIAA LED driving light only draw barely 1.5A for two 18w LED light that happen to be brighter than my Morimoto HID's which is barely 3A draw. Just compare the factory headlight have a 15A fuse per side, then my old seal beam fog light required a 20A fuse for just two bulbs to be lit.

 

Between LED and HID lighting there is much better options for lighting. The biggest problem is the reflector of the factory light is typically poor pattern anyways. This on reason I switch to HID's because every good clear lens headlights with LED's with a poorly designed reflector the pattern of light still sucks big time. So people try for bright or better lighting on a poor reflector which is where the blinding people start to happen. Even if every thing is legal for street. Like I said the weakest link is the poor grade of reflectors or optics. I will have to give credit to a old member which I think has pass on @flagmanruss he was always after me about this and now I totally understand... You'll never find any quality lighting till your optics are quality. 

 

This why I'm a big fan of the Morimoto HID lighting because there is no reflectors and everything is cast out through a lens (H1 Mini or D2S lens). The pattern is perfect and light being cast is smooth and no hotspots. Even the Morimoto LED version was the same thing. Very clean pattern. Back to fog lamps I went with PIAA LED's again design with a very clean pattern and optics are very precise. There is two styles of lights there is the driving lights which is a narrow pattern but long length of cast. Where the fog lamp is very short length and wider pattern. Again I've tried both the driving light cast more light farther down road at highway speed where the fogs didn't quite cut the distance very well.
