Finally got the head home and head gasket. The only thing I forgot was my lube for the ARP 425 studs. Then last night had a chat with another forum member that showed me a much better nut for ARP studs. Much bigger flange on the nut and thicker body.

Last night I got another friend Andrew to help me place the head back on the block. As soon as the ARP thread lube gets here I can start stuffing studs in.

Truck has been sitting for long time and need to get it running again.

I've heard of people running some Fastnall studs and nuts and they supposed to have more tensile strength then arp. I used some bolts from there for my SBC before with good results.

All I can say he got them at a Fasten-all store. Standard 6 side flange nut same 12mm x 1.50 thread. When comparing the 6 side is much bigger clamping force.

Will do if and when I have to pull the head. Thanks Mike!

Made my first haul with my RV. After a long few weeks and little time off I've hitched up my RV and hauled out to a camp spot on the Snake River. Engine did fine. Just need to rebuild mt heat shield for the transmission. Making that 17 mile run on dirt roads trans got marginally hot. Towing power was good.

Now time to fix all the other little things like door locks, etc.

Always so many "small things" I never seem to get too.
