When my truck camper was built here locally  2O years ago the Honda gens had just been out for a bit so I had him make a bin left side rear to put it in .it ended up be a little high off the ground. But I was young and tall and it wasn’t a problem.  Sometimes when I’m just by myself I just put on the floor passenger side.  Or on the 4 wheeler trailer but when I have a passenger and no trailer I would like to have a hitch mounted  basket to put it in.  Basket on left side of hitch. I have folding stair that come down also.  So I’m looking for a ready made setup that can be shipped or any ideas.  Or I will have to go see a welder .pictures later of my camper rear.  If I can get then sent.  Thanks

Have one fabricated for the left side with an added vertical brace coming off the left side bumper mount for added support.  Another idea is a front mount hitch where you could put a full cargo rack.

 

True story:  A few years ago my wife and I were touring Yellowstone National Park.  We were heading south from the Mammoth area on US 89 which happened to be under road improvement at the time and a hard packed mess.   Well I'm going slow and navigating all the bumps and holes the road crew could put in front of me when a truck pulling a 5th wheel, with a cargo rack in back, passes me on the right and goes bouncing by.  About a mile down the road there's the truck and 5th wheel on the side of the road with the cargo rack sitting at a 45° angle in the dirt.  So, get a strong quality built rack, don't over load it, and go slow over rough roads. 

My pa would have beat me for driving down a rough road to fast and not checking the oil regularly.  But when I took all 

of his screwdrivers and drove them in the ground he thought  it was pretty funny.  He gave me a shovel and made me dig them all out

I have been wanting a diamond plate toolbox mounted on the rear of my truck camper to use as a deck when you walk out the door. The steps would then be attached to the toolbox so I could step off from there. I would make brackets that hold the toolbox to the jacks mounts on each corner of the camper. My camper has a gen compartment and the little Honda eu 1000 fits in there. I go to the mountains for my air conditioning and eat all IBMobile's food, it's great to see what he's got in there.

My Jayco is outfitted with 1,200 watt inverter. No sound or noise from the inverter and the solar panels keep the batteries charged up. Just flip two switches and the house has 120 VAC in all the outlets. No gasoline, no noise, just peace and quiet.

I've got solar, a 1500W inverter, and a I still carry my EU2200. I installed a MicroAir Easy Start so I can run the AC on the 2200w gen, and sometimes I have to augment the solar when it's cloudy, shady, or cold. I do prefer the trips where the gen never gets unpacked thou. 

Don't get me wrong I've got a small 2kw generator but I need a 100 foot cord and move the generator way out in the woods. Hence the small solar and inverter setup. 

 

Like my trip to Pittsburg Landing on Memorial Day I listened to all the generators all day long. Since I had Kayden (Jake's son) we fired up the TV and fell asleep with it running all night. Woke up and the TV was still playing that movie series. Turn the solar panels around it was charging still while the TV was still going.

 

No issues with charging tablets and cell phones too.

I’m thinking I will go with a 2 inch front receiver hitch and a fold up curt cargo carrier.  Honda and a couple gas cans  maybe a spare propane bottle .  And yes always bring lots of cord to put it away from you. Domestic Brisk 2  in the top roof hole and a easy start.  We want to go south Nevada Arizona New Mexico  like in the first part of October and November home by thanksgiving.   Both retired now  and we don’t have a problem driving the alaska hwy in the winter a bit to come home. We are trying to shorten up our long winters a bit   But we can’t leave Alaska in the summer June July August September maybe don’t need the ac but I really hate being to hot.

Sounds like fun.  May be you can join @JAG1 and me in October.   We're camp with 4-6 other people about an hour south of Carson City, NV and just west of Bridgeport, CA.  We're there the first or second week in October for about 7-8 days.

  

Not maybe this year but next I have relatives in Henderson NV  also. I have more Alaska story’s than you can shake a stick at. Do I really need a a/c for October November  .

You can go to https://www.wunderground.com/wundermap.  Find a weather reporting station near where you're going,  Left click on it; this will open a box with the current conditions in it,  At the bottom of this box left click on the "visit local weather page for (local area), find history and left click.  Here you can enter past dates to see what that day's temps were, what the average temps are, and what the past high and low temps were,   

 

 In southern NV during the first part of October temps can reach 100°F during the day and average night temp of 76°F. 

Heck, even north in Idaho we already seen 105*F here and night temps in the low 60's. Us out here just go up in elevation for camping so you won't need A/C or even power. I was just talking to a friend about camping and he said after May it all above 5,000 feet or better so you can get away from the heat and not need A/C. My last camping trip to Pittsburg Landing was hot and just listening to a campground full of generators running really not all that cool. I would just shut down for the day and go rest in the RV or shade of tree and talk with friends.
