Anyone have any input on the exhaust manifold I should get? I'm undecided between the BD and ATS. While the BD has two ports driled and tapped and the ATS has one. The ATS also comes with a high temp black coating and won't look like crap after a few seasons. As far as quality between the two I have no idea. Currently the best price I have found shipped to my door is $425.00 total.

The bummer part is the guy thats interested told me "I'll take it along with the exhaust blanket " and i cant get a hold of him yet. I have to give him a chance. As far as a "sale" they have them 6 times a year.

I actually purchased the ATS 3 pc but decided not to upgrade. It is a very nice peice.

Has anyone really noticed lower EGTs after swapping to an aftermarket manifold?

most will see a drop up too a 100* in egt,s after the swap I RUN A HOUGE EQUAL LENGTH stainless hedder on my truck egts dropped 200*post-10029-138698181093_thumb.jpg

Wha I remember that pic header and also the cost lmao - nice tho !!

That header looks awesome! I have a couple stock manifolds. I will give gasket matching a try for now. Mucher cheaper. I need to start a thread on the best intake manifold now. Wilsons manifold looks sick!

You put the turbo gasket on the exhaust manifold run some bolts in,then look at the inside of it. There will be material under the gasket on the manifold that can be ground off.

The turbo example has the wrong gasket on just look at the edge. It was the only one i had. You also do the other end with the gasket. You can see the extra meat pointed out with the bic pen.

--- Update to the previous post...

You can take an awl and scratch a grind line. Then grind on a angle to get up to the gasket. Once you get up to the line work the inside part. You have to know when to stop so you dont end up with a boat anchor

I appreciate you explaining that one. What would you expect gain from doing this? it looks like alot of work.

It helps with airflow. Gives a nice smooth transition rather than the air having to hit ledges. I think it would be worth a little bit of work.

You know, not much to gain if this would be ALL anyone does.50 to 100 rpm spool gain ? Every little bit helps. If we all did 4 or 5 little freeish things to our trucks i am sure we would be happy with the combined results.

the little things can add quickly. it applies to every thing we do. we discuss this at work quite often. 27 supers aving a $100 a week for a year = $140,400 a year. works the same with our trucks. of course with that kinda of money i could just buy that pretty ss header.:lmao2:
