leveling kit questions

ok guys i have a 2000 dodge cummins 4x4 and i hate rake to the frunt and am thinking if installing 2in leveling spacers on the frunt but some thing ive read say you just about have to unhook everthing on the frunt axel to get the clearence to get the spacers in is this true?:shrug: i live at an apartment and disassembling somuch there is a nono:banghead: and paying to have it done is out of the books:broke:any input would be greatly appreciated:thumb1: also i was wondering if a set of new modle 17in in wheels will fit my truck?:shrug: thanks in advance guys:thumbup2:

Yea i have adjustable ball joints, no problem with death wobble at all, to tell the truth my steering was loose before the rebuild but i never once had a problem with death wobble since Ive owned the truck.-Jordan-

i only had death wobble once, but it was due to the original steering components allowing so much slack that i could turn the wheel 10oclock to 2oclock with no reaction from the steering. I hit a pothole at 65 while in a turn and man did it shake like a paintshaker!since then i have never had deathwobble. balljoints are stock original still and still good.

ive not had any death wobble probs either but driving straight is a pain due to my steering box is gone plan on replacing soon but im:broke:right now

i run a 2"leveling kit, stock trackbar, stock ball joints. no issues.

from allthe replys on here i think ill stick with my plan of a leveling kit and new modle wheels :hyper:sadly i gota wait just a little while to get sme money cause im :broke:at the moment and i am having trouble locating the wheels locally oh and a new sterring box so i dont look drunk:lmao:

how do you go about doing that? also if i get under neath and watch i can watch the shaft comming out the bottom move from side to side when turning the sterring wheel back and forth its the stock box with 160k on it also the seal is starting to leak

mine did that too. $140 steering box brace fixed that.

if it is real bad jack truck off groun and have someone start the engine and steer the wheel carefully and while they do this go from under the truck you take a 18mm(iirc) boxend wrench and loosen the center nut on the top of the steering box and hold it. take a allen wrench and tighten it (righty tighty lefty loosy when looking at it from top) till the steering gets a touch of resistance then back off a bit. For me i did this by myself tonight in the driveway about 10 minutes, i did about 1 turn and it snugged it up a bit but the sector shaft still has a bunch of play on the housing and it leaks so i still need to replace the box and get the brace. http://dodgeram.org/tech/mods/steering/steering_gear/Adjust.htm it has pics...

if the sector shaft has side movement, the steering box brace will help that dramatically; mine was that way. And, it's not money wasted, once you replace your steering box. Using it on your new box will prolong it's life, as well.

ok so money isnt gona let me do the new model wheels right now but i am in need of new tires so im thinking of going ahead and doing the 2in leveling kit and bigger tires on stock wheels one of you guys said in a earlier post that you was running 295/75/r16 with out the kit and 315/75/r16 with the kit but he did a 3in level kit what can i run with the 2in it look like the 315 would be too tall for the 2in

My truck had 305/70/16 on it when I got it and they looked/fit good and I dont remember any rubbing with no levleing kit but it was on aftermarket wheels.
